another cracking shout mufc…never been a fan of these real footage films and thought the blair witch project was laughably shite. but rec gave me the collywobbles big time. didnt know there was a sequel, plenty of time on my hands these days so will look that up.

sympathy…is it you who made their fortune importing tinned tomatoes? somebody did on this site and by fuck i had some rows with them back in the day, if it was you my apologies.

remember lloyd? he was a funny one. got introduced to him on email by the old editor and in fairness he did seem fairly well connected and even offered to take me to a game and meet the glazers. was working out ways of getting a hatchet or hammer, stanley knife or spanner into the ground.

weirdly, he knew some stuff about sporting lisbon which suggested he was well switched on in football and business circles.

Lloyd…fuck that is a blast from the past. There have been so many posters lost to the forum over the years. Lloyd, Burge, Evratime and Baz1902 (who i always thought might be JM but dont think so anymore) and others who it looks like have sadly passed. The best debates on here were definitely in the early days of the Glazers take over and Moyes taking over. Pity the quality of the debate isn’t there anymore. Far too much keyboard warrior antics which we’ve all been guilty of at times. Probably all a consequence of the frustrations witnessed on the pitch since Fergie retired.

But Lloyd he was a mysterious one. Could have been one of the Glazers himself the way he used to go on.

    I detested Blair witch.

Were there ever any meltdowns on here back in the day?

    Well said N1xer.
I think the site actually is worse off without the MacGuffin. As much as i thought he was a provocative bell-end at times (I’m sure i’ve come across as worse!) he did stir debate pretty well. He had a great memory too, annoyingly. And particularly during these international breaks he would usually come up with something to stir the nest – if you had the time to read through his essays that is!!
Shame he never got to see us get back to the top – hopefully some of us will!!!
    🙁

Am surprised this thread got responses lol. I thought because of the non-football section it’ll be similar. I think because it’s started on our forum it’s done OK as we all kind of speak on a daily basis.

    Is Teamtalk your secret?

@mufc-Hard to believe how much they made of that Blair Witch. Exploited the internet well. I guess fair play to them in a way but the film was pure dirt.

The debates back then were really passionate as you would expect. The Glazer take over and Fergie retiring are probably some of the biggest things to happen to the club in its history. The chat was proper intense but i enjoyed it. Now it seems to have gone in to a rut and is a bit like groundhog day. Still amazes me how the Glazers got away with it. And they’ve never had the courtesy to give an interview all these years. Proper cunts.

@Happy-Some of the back and forwards you had with Mac were intense. He knocked out some serious essays over the years. I was with him during the Moyes debates but lost him after that a bit. Still, good banter all the same

@Wonderfuel Gas – made their fortune importing tinned tomatoes?? That’s a new one! Haha no that’s not me; unfortunately I’m not rich mate, though I can’t complain about my current state =)

@n1xer – some major names in there! Evratime sticks out as a very pleasant poster, hopefully he and all others who are no longer around are all doing well.

think it says everything that the people behind blair witch have done fuck all since. chancers. if it had been made made a group of kids who showed it at their local film society then you might say well done but an international phenomenon? do me a favour.

sympathy…daft as it may sound, there was one fella on here who i antagonised and patronised to the point where he gave up his life story as a successful importer/exporter of tinned tomatoes. teased him endlessly after that. your old united till i die nickname rang a bell but it was certainly something like that. you are one of our famous malta reds, right?

Blacky and Zico on this thread would be interesting.

    PS, Where are they?

    #1936611

@Wonderfuel Gas – hahaha brilliant! There was someone who had copied my username towards the end (one of the reasons I had dropped my username to be honest) so I think I know the character you’re referring to.

And yes I am indeed a Malteser born and bred =) Not like there’s any decent football to watch / follow over here so English football is the natural next option! With that said, I’ve had the pleasure of watching United quite a number of times live in the glory years:

1-0 home to Roma in 2008 when Rooney scored
2-0 away to Roma when Ronaldo scored that superb header from Scholes’ cross
1-0 away to City in 2010 when Scholes scored a header in injury time (thought the City fans were gonna kill me lol)

And a number of others… I was a bit of a good luck charm until we lost 0-1 at home to Cluj in the 2013 Champions League… the last time I watched them live that one.

What’s your favorite dialogue in a movie? One of mine is the cabin scene in True Romance. The guys father and the Sicilian gangsters, so so epic and funny. Check it below,

Yeah that’s a great scene. Pulp fiction had a few good ones as well.
Actually one of my favourites is Once Upon a Time in America. Probably De Niro’s best performance. Scorsese and De Niro at their finest – the music, everything about the movie is epic!
