Just to prevent an Aindro thread.😊
Team selection for this one will be interesting.
It’s a game we need to win A) to progress in a competition which with some luck of the draw etc we’ve got a chance of potentially winning and B) because we need to get this home form monkey of our backs.

I think this game will be an opportunity for our fringe players after a packed holiday period? This FA Cup is probably our only hope to win a trophy this season though. But I still think we need to rest the regular players like Abraham, Willian, Mount, Kanté, Rudiger and Azpi and we should play the likes of Pulisic, Batshuayi, Alonso or Emerson, Reece James, Tomori and even Barkley.January 4, 2020 at 8:11 am #1813220Predicted team from the Express:
Caballero; Lamptey, Christensen, Zouma, Emerson; Kovacic, Gilmour, Barkley; Pedro, Hudson-Odoi, Batshuayi
????
I do think we need to make changes and give some players a rest hopefully whoever is chosen is good enough to take us into the 4th round especially wearing that special kit celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the 1970 FA Cup win.
January 4, 2020 at 10:32 am #1813265I was going to say give youth a go but these days we need to rest some of them. Its the old blokes we may have to use such as Pedro and Giroud. Still expect a win but may not be routine.
January 5, 2020 at 2:54 pm #1813600A good 1st half from us. CHO played well, Reece James was my MoM 1st half. Jorginho & Kovacic commanded the midfield. Happy that Barkley scored but besides that I don’t think he played that well. A bit disappointed that Gilmour did not start, it would have been an opportunity for him. But Christensen, Michy, Barkley, CHO, Pedro: they are getting an opportunity on this match, hopefully they will play well and give FL selection headache for the next match in the League.
Michy was unlucky not to score IMO, hopefully 2nd half he will get his goal.
January 5, 2020 at 2:59 pm #1813603Batshuayi a major liability. Three clear heading chances off target from peach Reece James crosses and got in the road of a Pedro shot at goal. 2-0 up at half time and doing it in a canter however a borderline VAR penalty decision for offside taken from Forest which may have put more pressure on us than there is. Goals Hudson-Odoi and Barkley. Expecting more in the 2nd half.
January 5, 2020 at 5:56 pm #1813679Disappointing performance not many players enhanced their chances to compete with the more regular starters, at least we through to the next round, if it wasn’t for var it could have we been 2-2 draw which could then end anyway. We definitely need a couple of new players.
January 5, 2020 at 7:28 pm #1813705Did not see the 2nd half. But agreed that Michy was disappointing. If we buy in January, a striker is a priority. Spurs lost Kane and they have no one now. If we lose Abraham (due to injury for example), both Giroud and Batshuayi cannot provide an adequate cover.
At least we kept a clean sheet (thanks to VAR of course, but the penalty: he was offside, we could see it clearly with VAR).
January 5, 2020 at 8:25 pm #1813723You won’t get great performances from scratch teams that rarely play together main thing is that we’re in the hat for the 4th Round draw.
Frank frustrated that we didn’t kick on and score more goals and that’s been our Achilles heel this season and beyond.
Michy has a goal or two in him but he’s not a top 4 Club striker imo which is what Chelsea are looking to achieve on a regular basis and moving him on for a half decent fee I suspect isn’t going to be easy.
At the end of the day we have to do what’s best for the Club above everything else and that isn’t another loan move, we need to try and move Michy on for the best possible fee we can get.
I can’t see it happening in January even if we sign another striker if Giroud moves on as he might we will still need 3 strikers to cover injuries/ the number of games we have to play.
Frank on Giroud leaving “There’s no update on Oli. I have spoken with him. If the conditions are it’s something Oli really wants to do, and it works for the club, and it works for me and the squad, then it’s something that could happen, but only when all three of those bases are covered.”
That’s the right attitude sympathetic to the player but the Club’s requirements have to come first.
January 7, 2020 at 3:14 pm #1814242We have a reasonable draw against Hull away next round. It’s not bad.
