Ole or the board to blame?

I know Ole has been getting some stick on the match day threads. But how much blame can he take? Without the money can he really compete with the current crop?

Look at how much LVG and Jose were given to spend compared to him, if he was given them figures then maybe we can look at his signings and say they weren’t good enough. I just feel he deserves less stick in my opinion.

Ed Woodward is to blame. Which manager of the right mind would like to manage this club with owners like Glazers with a net spend of relegationside and a CEO like Woodward Who block managers transfer targets.

Of course the gimps and Woodturd take the lions share of the blame for this fiasco, their stewardship of the club since Ferguson and Gill retired has been farcical and completely without any sort of a plan.
BUT I’m afraid Ole’s judgement on what players are good enough to play regularly in the team is completely out of touch with reality, Quite frankly, it is that bad it reminds me of one or two of the more clueless airheads on this forum!
Unfortunately, this is what will cost him his job in the end, simple as that.

Blacky do you think Ole is in a trial and error phase still? By the next window he’ll know who isn’t good enough?

    #1779656

Blacky has got it right – whilst the Glazers and Woodward do (and should) take the brunt of the criticism, Ole has not helped himself with some of his baffling decisions. Why sell both Lukaku and Sanchez and leave yourself so brutally short up front? Why play Periera in a RW role (or any role for that matter) when he looks so unprepared to play in that position and at this level? Why keep relying on Lingard when Mata showed more in the 60 minutes yesterday than Lingard has done in all of 2019? Why rely on a 17 year old for goals and not plan ahead for injuries and lack of form of either Rashford or Martial?

A lot of questions which are obvious to the average fan but not to people who are paid a bucket load of money to manage this club. Whilst he has improved the atmosphere and also the way we play (considering how Mourinho ended it’s not that great of an achievement either) he’s making mistakes in each match and needs to learn now before tomorrow and get it sorted.

How I see it is Ole is a driver and has been given a Ford Escort to drive in a Rally Championship so if he wants to be successful he needs to be on his game and drive perfectly but unfortunately he’s only driving in 3rd gear and not using the car to it’s obvious potential and only he can be blamed for that for he is “at the wheel”.

The Glazers and Woodward are the main culprits but our current state is a domino effect from 2008, when we last one the Champions League. That’s when we had our strongest team ever but instead of strengthening it further to establish dominance in Europe, the squad was allowed to age and deteriorate while the likes of City slowly caught up with us and Barca, Real, Bayern and others surpassed us.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s uncanny ability to squeeze the absolute best out his team only served as blinkers and while he left on a high, his over performing squad was on the verge of crumbling and David Moyes was completely the wrong man at the wrong time. So was LVG and so was Mourinho. Ole WAS the right man to take over from Jose – but ONLY as an interim manager until the end of last season.

The squad is virtually the same; slightly better in defense but worse in midfield. Ole’s 3 signings look like they could turn out well for us – especially compared to the signings made by his predecessors but at this point we simply find ourselves so far behind due to gross negligence over the last decade overseen by the Glazers. The signs were there when Woodward was brought in and since that the situation has only gone from bad to worse.

Sorry mate, he had 6 months last season and a full pre season to judge these guys and still couldn’t see how shite most of them are. It’s bad enough that they are even at the club in the first place, but to have them playing in the team week in week out is just plain criminal I’m afraid.

His tactical nous and substitutions make little sense either. As was clearly indicated yesterday, when it took him 10 minutes after the red card to bring Mason Greenwood on, giving him just 8 minutes to score us a goal. Not only that, he had already brought that useless wankstain Lingard on 15 minutes before him, quite what that was going to achieve god only knows. That was just piss poor decision making all round mate, simple as that.

Man utd problem is both board and manager.
Your board like ours had made poor decisions in respect to recruitment over the years which partly you can’t entirely blame them because changing managers involves changing playing style and personals but recruitment was poor. Chelsea have the same problem our saving grace is that we have some good players in the youth setup.
Second issue is manager, Ole is not the answer. His style is counter attacking, earlier in his United coaching career he was unknown entity and teams played into his hands but once United became a threat teams started playing with caution and no space to counter anymore. You guys don’t have a style that breaks down teams. You can either persevere or cut your losses with Ole and find a manager with actual identity( Tuchel,Brendan Rogers,Martinez etc) they may not be fancy but they have a style and if you give them money will build teams similar to Pep and Klopp.
Chelsea we have our issues but one isn’t manager because we have an attacking manager that isn’t afraid to make bold decisions, he’s just young but watching Chelsea you can see he has a style of playing just need time for injured players to come into the squad and buy his players.

Ole should carry the can for the signings he made but cannot be held responsible for the squad he inherited. Its should be obvious to all by now the Glazers are keeping a tight grip on the purse strings. I think fans assume Ole has more control over signings, exits and contract extensions than he actually does.

Fans blame him for some selections but does it really matter which sow’s ear you select. If just tinkering with selections and formations made that much difference we wouldn’t need to replace players.

PS – Its hard for Ole to keep Lukaku when the player is desperate for a move. The fault was we should have done our business early in the transfer window thereby giving time to replace Lukaku if needs be.

Solskjær seems a better fit as a coach than a manager. He isn’t covering himself in glory when it comes to tactics, line-ups and substitutions but he’s not helped by the lack of quality and depth in the squad. Does he mean everything he says about his players or is he genuinely frustrated behind the scenes when assessing this shower of shit? If he isn’t, he is just as deluded as his employers and will fall on his sword before too long. Or maybe he’s just hanging in there in hope of reinforcements next summer. Will he still be here at that time, though?

Pocchettino is getting increasingly stroppy at Spurs so maybe he will eventually succeed Ole. Ralph Nagelsmann is a very young and upcoming manager who just took over at RB Leipzig and I’m sure his name will crop up more often in the future. As will Erik ten Hag’s and Thomas Tuchels although I don’t see the latter having much patience with Woodward at the helm.

It depends on who sanctioned Herrera (contract expired), Lukaku, Sanchez and Smalling leaving with no replacements coming in. If it’s Ole when he knows the squad is down to it’s bearbones then it’s him.

Ok they are not great but the players coming on could be argued are a level below them.

Blacky at 8:06 am: BUT I’m afraid Ole’s judgement on what players are good enough to play regularly in the team is completely out of touch with reality, Quite frankly, it is that bad it reminds me of one or two of the more clueless airheads on this forum!

This comment is without a shred of a doubt the most retarded thing i’ve ever read on this forum. Tell us which players should play regularly, genius? Or give your head a wobble clueless fruitcake.

How can anyone blame Ole for the current mess at United? He is rebuilding and has a monumental job clearing out that squad. He’s letting the right players go and his 3 signings so far are solid. He got rid of 7 deadwoods in one window for god sake; SEVEN (Lukaku, Sanchez, Darmian, Smalling, Valencia, Fellaini and Herrera). Ole tried to keep Herrera but the club refused to meet his wage demands. Not Ole’s fault. Ole tried to sign Dyabala in player exchange with Lukaku. Ole even tried to sign Manduzic as a short-term fix. It has been reported Ole was interested in Longstaff, Bruno Fernandes and SMS. None of them signed by the club. All down to hands of those American pricks Glazers and Woodward. My only issue with Ole is he’s got to give Fred a chance.

Everything wrong with Utd is the Glazers and Woodward. The transfer kit for this summer was £150m. Say Glazers out LOUD AND CLEAR. It’s the Glazers who need to be pushed, not Ole. All we can do is give Ole time, sure we have had a bad start to the season but Rome wasn’t built in a day, give him time to drill in his philosophy to the squad.

Anyone saying United should have kept Sanchez for the sake of numbers are totally clueless about football. This guy was rotten to the core and needed moving on ASAP. He scored the same numbers of goals as James for god sake. YES 1 win, 1 lost and 2 draws is the worst start for Utd season, the reality of the work that has yet to be done in this “work in progress” is obvious. Keep working at it Ole there is obviously better to come and I am sure it will improve.

Again, anyone saying United should have kept Lukaku for the sake of numbers are totally clueless about football. Lukaku refuses to fight for his place, turns up the last two pre-seasons overweight, claims he’s a scapegoat when he’s clearly underperforming, shares private club data with the world, says he wants to go to Inter for months and says Conte’s his dream manager but doesn’t think he’s unprofessional. Haha whatever…..

As a player, his speed and strength were the only assets masking his poor ball control and lack of awareness. You judge big money strikers by the goals they score against rivals. How many goals he scored against the top 6 teams again? yeps, he has the turning circle of an ocean liner, not good enough for the prem, should have gone on loan to leeds, but Champ might be too much for him. It’s a miracle we got 74m for this buffoon. first Lukaku then Sanchez. christmas came early.

In order of responsibility for this mess:

    1. GLAZERS
    2. WUDTURD
    3. VAN GAAL
    4. J.M.
    5. EVERTON WANKER
    6. FERGUSON
    7. OLE

Never in the history of football has an owner taken so much out of a club and put so little in and called it legal!!!
Ole needs to be given 2 years to be judged fairly and I just hope he’s also got rid of Lindelof and Lingard in that time as well as Rojo!

    #1779828

@TheMartialArt – I don’t think many (if any at all) will debate that Lukaku and Sanchez should have been shown the door however some (including me) think that keeping Sanchez as a senior back-up until we can get in a replacement in January (or next summer) would have been more beneficial than just reducing his wages slightly for him to be at no benefit at all to us at Inter.

If we had sold him and taken him completely off the wage bill than sure but as it stands, we’re still paying him wages, we still have the same problem with him next summer and we gain nothing from now till then.

    Cheers

On a side note, watching how important Eriksen and Son are for Spurs, Mane, Salah and Firmino are for Liverpool and the Silvas, Sterling and De Bruyne are for City, it’s clear that you need creative and smart players who have quick feet and can play in tight places in order to break down stubborn defences.

Pogba can do that but plays too far back and Martial can too but he is too on and off.

We need to find two players (one for the Number 10 role and another for RW) who can play that kind of game and not just the speedy, counter-attacking style.

@Sympathy for the Devils – Who cares we have to pay some of the wages it’s best to get him out even on loan. End of last season everyone was screaming to get these players out. Ole is doing just that. He’s not part of Oles plans so it’s bad for the atmosphere to have him around the dressing room. He’s also been the worst player for United in recent memory so why any United fan would want to keep him over youth is beyond me. Fellaini was a much much better player for us and that says it all. Cycle of Sanchez come back disappoint get injured come back go on international duty score goals gets injured and repeat repeat repeat. Right to clear him out even if it means that we play the youth like Gomes Greenwood and Chong. Better than Sanchez I suppose. Better we bring Zlatan back… 6mil for half a season 15 goals? Sounds good.

That number 7 shirt should be kept in storage until a worthy player can fill that honor. if Sancho sign next summer i would give it to him.

Good luck to Sanchez. He was a quality player who for whatever reasons failed to click at Utd. Fresh start in a new league should do him good. I’m rooting for Sanchez to win Serie A for inter and hope they take him away permanently. In any case, I don’t see him or Smalling wear Utd shirt ever again.

Not getting Bruno or any other players in, criminal by Woodward. It seems the club is in a full reset mode we couldn’t get some of the players we needed this summer because United are not an attractive option at present… High wage earners OFF the books Deadwood slowly being let go.. I honestly think the board / club are not expecting anything from Ole and this team this season or the next maybe.. Its going to take time before we can even consider Trophies.. Anything in that time is a bonus.

You can see a rebuild happening with youth. But need to be patient. It will happen. Patience people.
