The Europa league holds a lot of interest for me (even if the away games can be dull). I don’t think this fixture should be underestimated.

This is our best chance of champions league next season, and winning a trophy. It gives us an opportunity to keep looking at squad members, who wants to play for Ole, and which young players are starting to take a step up and should be in our rebuilding plans for the first team next season.

We’ve got lots of options in defence to rotate, but in midfield I can only see Matic available to come in. Fred, Perreira and McTominay will all be knackered after the Liverpool effort, and I think they deserve to start the game against Norwich.

It’s an away game against the group leaders, and I think with the effort put into the Liverpool game and the number of injuries, not losing would be a decent result.

    1-0 would be fantastic.

I’m hoping to see James Garner get some meaningful minutes and a bit more of Gomes and Greenwood.

I agree bout the EL it is worth going for as a win gets us back in the champions league and may provide more incentive for better signings

Even though the EL is perhaps our best chance of CL qualification we surely have to rest pretty much everyone that are expected to start against Norwich. We cannot keep starting the likes of Rashford every game. We are already in a good position in the EL group and need to focus on the PL just now.

    Martial Greenwood
    Mata
    Lingard Matic Garner
    Williams Rojo Jones Dalot
    Romero

It is a good opportunity to get the likes of Martial up to speeding to give more minutes to the Academy players. Garner in particular, as we are short in numbers in midfield. Bring on the likes of Gomes and Chong as substitutes as well.

@cr Agree, although not sure we’re in a good position in the group yet. If we lose this game we could be in 3rd, having to rely on breaking down teams that will come to Old Trafford and defend for their lives (our worst types of game). I think we need at least a point from this game.

Very interested to see Garner, but suspect there’s a reason he’s not got any game time yet this season. He might not be ready for it.

Agreed with pretty much everything above. The team will be picked based on injuries/fatigue and match fitness. Hard for us to predict the starting XI as we don’t know were the likes of Pogba is in his recovery. What we do know is that Shaw and Matic are over in Dubai for the week so they’ll definitely be out. I reckon Martial will be given about 60 minutes maybe being replaced by Rashford for the final half hour. I have a feeling de Gea was rushed back a little early against Liverpool so shouldn’t even travel to Serbia
I’d go for a team along the lines of:
    Romero
    Young, Maguire, Rojo, Williams
    Garner, McTominay
    Greenwood, Mata, Chong
    Martial

Only player I want to see start is Garner I’m hearing so much about him and I’m desperate to see him play at least 60 mins..Chong and Greenwood will likely start and we are starting to see more and more of Williams..maybe shaws time is up 😂
    My line up would be;
    Romero
    Awb Maguire Rojo Williams
    Garner Matic
    Mata
    Chong Martial Greenwood

Probably 1-0…I just can’t seem to predict more than 1-0 this season 😭 we need an in form Martial back

Can see another boring 0-0 draw like against AZ.

Another match I won’t bother to watch.

Just to get a win would be huge, we do need a good mix of experience and youth though.
    Romero
    AWB Tuanzebe Maguire Williams
    Garner McT Mata
    Chong Greenwood Rashford

@redblood – I wouldn’t go watch a game in Eastern Europe to be honest: hoping not too sound too uptight, your average football fan in that area of Europe are brain-dead racist hooligans who are just there to ruin the experience for everyone.

If I was UEFA and/or FIFA I’d straight up ban the club/country for a number of months if ever such abuse comes out from the terraces.

    Cheers

Back three again. Garner starts in midfield. Williams, Martial and Lingard also start.

Pleased to see Martial getting some time on the pitch, looking forwards Rashford seems a better player coming off the wing.
Jones and Rojo starting is terrifying, they’ll almost certainly cock some basic aspect of the game up to gift the opposition a chance!
Think we’ll win this – first win for Maguire as captain!

Good win, first home loss in 12 games in Europe for Partizan, they’ve won or drawn the previous 11, I think won 8 and drawn 3. Garner played well by all accounts, didn’t see it though tbh. A win is a win is a win

They were all shite bar Williams killy. Not one shot on target other than the penalty. All Partizan second half. Agree a win is a win mate but it was fucking horrible.

I don’t think anyone in their right mind, or a rival supporter who wishes us nothing but intense pain could look at that team beforehand and declare it as being anything other than embarrassing, and that was mirrored in the performance.

Can’t beat a man, can’t pass, can’t tackle, can’t shoot, can’t retain possession, and the likes of Martial who can’t be arsed to give even 80% effort most weeks either. As @jm1502 says, the only highlight was Brandon Williams. I would pick him to start every day of the week ahead of lardy arse Shaw, who does more disappearing acts these days than Lord Lucan ever did, simple as that.
