Gary Lineker recently tweeted that Pogba was the most over rated player in world football. He got a telling off from Pogba’s agent but, can anyone see a reason why he is a £100m pound player? I might be wrong but he has never impressed when I have seen him play.
If someone brought him in for 20m, you would think it’s a good deal, he could develop into a decent footballer, but for 100m? I don’t get it.
July 7, 2016 at 1:43 pm #1097985Big call from Jose I doubt SAF would have made it but credit to Ed Woodward and the United Board for backing the Managers judgement.
July 7, 2016 at 1:44 pm #1097991Well if Gary Linekar said so…
July 7, 2016 at 1:49 pm #1098009i think pogba is one of those players that does something remarkable every 4 or 5 games and people go nuts but does nothing the rest of the time. ive never watched him and thought hes brilliant.
July 7, 2016 at 1:51 pm #1098015Have we even signed him yet?! Nothing on the BBC. In football terms, there’s probably only Messi or Neymar who would be “worth” that. Suarez probably not far behind. Would he improve Utd’s midfield? Undoubtedly. Are my finances affected by Utd overspending on a player? No! Hence I only really concern myself with the first point. Utd are due to be named the richest club in world football. What’s the point of all that hard work to get there if you’re not going to spend it on football players!
July 7, 2016 at 1:54 pm #1098030As far as just how good he is, I really don’t watch enough Serie A to properly judge him but it looks like he’s made the last 2 or 3 Serie A teams of the season so he can’t be that bad…
July 7, 2016 at 2:14 pm #1098069He wants to go to Madrid and Madrid want to buy him, are they not favourites to get him then?
Looks like everyone but MT seems to agree with me and Gary lol
July 7, 2016 at 2:16 pm #1098072Mad, no one thinks he is terrible but what does he do to justify a 100m price tag?
July 7, 2016 at 2:17 pm #1098078he has everything in his locker to be a much better player then ya ya toure. Hes much better on the ball then people give him credit. No way in this world worth 100m but then who is. He will be a rgeat signing. The deal is done
like Chris says, utd have the money. It doesnt even put a tent in their funds when pogba signs
July 7, 2016 at 2:22 pm #1098093Madrid vs Manchester
CL vs Europa
Zidane vs Mourinho (bearing in mind he probably idolises Zidane as a fellow French central midfielder)We’ve no chance if they’re in for him…
July 7, 2016 at 2:24 pm #1098099Sorry number7, not sure why auto correct changed your name to mad lol
July 7, 2016 at 2:31 pm #1098129Haha! Well I said in my post Johnny that he’s not one of those I would put in that tiny bracket of players worth 100mil (if indeed anyone). Hopefully that answers your question. If you were the Man Utd CEO (haha!) and given 100mil to spend on a midfielder, assuming they’d be gettable, who would you buy instead? Be serious please!
July 7, 2016 at 2:35 pm #1098144James Milner.
July 7, 2016 at 2:52 pm #1098195Kroos for far less. Or David Batty. Sanches for 30m. Bale (wrong position but for that money?). Aaron Ramsey, what a tournament he has had.
July 7, 2016 at 3:01 pm #1098219Kroos: I’d love to get him but why would he come to us from Madrid. If Madrid want rid, then fair enough. I think we’d have alresdy bid for him if they gave us any encouragement though.
Sanches: 18yrs old. Looks a top, top talent but less experience of big games than Pogba. Regardless, that ship has sailed. Either he snubbed us or we dallied too much dep3nding on who you believe.
Ramsey: I’m a fan but even Arsenal fans are unsure about him if you read their page. He seems to be the one they’re happy to see go.
Batty: Fair point. Nothing to say on that one.
Of course it’s only my opinion but even with the above list, there’s very little to choose from in terms of realistic targets who would definitely improve our midfield. We’ll have to wait and see if we are in for him or not…
July 7, 2016 at 3:17 pm #1098273The all knowing Gary Lineker lol. Pogba is a powerhouse in midfield, has pace, is just as adept offensively as he his defensively, can shoot from anywhere, has a first touch akin to Berbatov, Bergkamp, and Zizzou, has already won a good handful of trophies in his few years with Juve, and he’s only 22. Gary Lineker haha what a laugh, Brits still think they know it all about football yet so many nations are leaving them behind in terms of progress in the footballing world. I wonder if Zinedine Zidane, someone who Lineker ain’t fit to lace his boots, would agree with Gary’s sentiments.
July 7, 2016 at 3:19 pm #1098279‘has a first touch akin to Berbatov, Bergkamp, and Zizzou, ‘. You are hilarious, old bean
July 7, 2016 at 3:21 pm #1098285All true no7, the fee just makes the deal crazier than normal. Kronos is hinting he is leaving Madrid though….
July 7, 2016 at 3:24 pm #1098294Listen Girlfriends! You’re speaking to someone who has watched Pogba throughout his entire career on a weekly basis since United snatched him from Le Havre. I’d like to imagine you not being a United or Pogba fan haven’t watched him nearly as much, unless you are one of those secretly obsessed with United but to afraid to openly admit it types.
July 7, 2016 at 3:31 pm #1098303An American telling Brits they know nothing about football. Is this a world first?!
