Now that the PL 18/19 seasons has ended, how do you think the team had fared? Which player do you think did well or poorly (did not live up to expectation) or has improved the most this season?

(Will not rate players who did not appear a single game for Liverpool or have played too little games)
    Team Ratings
    Out of 10
    Allison – 8.5
    Mignolet – Did not appear
    Van Dijk – 9
    Gomez – 7
    Lovren – 6.5
    Matip – 7.5
    TAA – 8.5
    Robertson – 8
Moreno – played too little to rate
    Fabinho – 7.5
    Keita – 6.5
    Wijnaldum – 7
Oxlade – played too little to rate
    Henderson – 7
    Milner – 7
    Lallana – 6
    Mane – 8.5
    Salah – 8.5
    Shaqiri – 7
    Firmino – 8
    Sturridge – 6
    Origi – 7

    Best player: Van Dijk
This category is a tough one as there is too much outstanding player that deserved this but if I have to choose one, it will be based on his influence for the team. Van Dijk brought leadership and calmness to the team which attributed to the improvement of our defence. Hard to say that he is the sole reason our defence has improved as I will be doing no justice to players like Fabinho and Alisson who I believed also contributed to the improvement but he has brought so much more to the team other than his ability.

    Signing of our season: Allison
Another tough one as most of our 18/19 season signings has been good: Fabinho, Allison and even Shaqiri (for a brief amount of time). But arguably it has to be Allison, some of his saves literally saved us.

Flop/Disappointment signing of our season: Naby Keita
Not trying to start some witch hunt here but I felt he simply did not live up to his expectation this season. Even this is his first season and there were signs of brilliance in some matches that he have played, his performance was at times lacklustre. I just hoped he will come good for us soon if we want to win the league

    Most improved: TAA
What a season it has been for this bloke. Only 21 years old and has double figured (12) assists to his name as a fullback, a massive upgrade from previous 2017/2018 season of only 2. If he can maintain and improve his defensive abilities, we might be seeing a legend in the making.

I thought Keita’s performance in the later part of the season was pretty good. I think it was 3 goals in the final few games he played.

Wijnaldum has quite easily been our best midfielder this season.

Keita struggled early on but improved a lot up to his injury against Barcelona. Agree with Ginger, Gini is outstanding in his contribution as is Fabinho. I’m glad Alisson won the golden gloves. Was immense this season. Ynwa

Too early to rate… I’d give everyone a 9, it’s been a real team effort, if we secure old big ears again I’d bump up my rating to a 9.5 for everyone there.

Allison – Biggest difference between this season and last is that we had a world class goalkeeper. 10/10

Mignolet – Not his fault that he’s still here. Contributed nothing when he was given a game. 0/10

Van Dijk – After waiting a decade to replace Carragher’s presence, what a replacement he has been. Player of the season. 10/10

Gomez – Truly world class alongside VVD before his injury. Disappointing 2nd half of the season. Still a lot to come from him. 8/10

Lovren – He’s finally where he should be. On the bench as cover for injuries. Solid when he’s played but wouldn’t trust him with more the amount of games he’s played. 6/10

Matip – Underrated season. Has been an absolute rock at the back and hasn’t gotten enough credit for it. 8.5/10

TAA – Arguably the best RB in the world. Didn’t think he had it in him to get to this level especially defensively. His presence is felt when he isn’t here. 10/10

Clyne – The more TAA plays the more you’ll realise how bad he really is. Rightfully moved out. 2/10

Robertson – Arguably the best LB in the world. 10/10

Moreno – Was supposed to be cover but he couldn’t even do that. His departure this summer is long overdue. 0/10

Fabinho – Took a while to get up to speed but he’s been an absolute beast in 2019. The #6 we’ve been crying out for. Still feel there’s more in him than what he’s shown so far. 7.5/10

Keita – Everyone was waxing lyrical about him when we got him but he’s been a huge disappointment. His late season run added a couple points on here. Will undoubtedly show his best next season. 5.5/10

Wijnaldum – Our best midfielder this season and not just because of his goals in the semis. He’s been what Keita was supposed to be and about time too. 9/10

    Oxlade – Injured

Henderson – Moved back to his best position late in the season and made an impact. The difference in class between him and Fabinho in the #6 role is evident though. Should be played as a box-to-box midfielder from here on. Solid if unspectacular for most of the season. 7/10

    Milner – Still defying everyone’s expectations. 8/10

Lallana – 2 1/2 years now that he’s done absolutely nothing. Looks like Klopp has finally wised up to golden boy Lallana. It’s an absolute joke that he came on in the final last season. We don’t need him. 1/10

Mane – Stepped up when we needed him to. He’s been massive for us this season. 9/10

Salah – Hasn’t has as bad a season as people make out. If he had kept scoring at his regular rate he would have had well over 30 goals this season along with his 10 assists. 8.5/10

Shaqiri – Fantastic first 1/2 of the season. Not sure if something has gone wrong off the pitch or if injuries have been the main issue for him as Klopp has said. Exactly what we’ve needed him to be. 7.5/10

Firmino – His positional changes this season hasn’t helped his personal output. Still a massive player for us though and his presence is missed when he’s not on the pitch. 7.5/10

Sturridge – Scored a couple of goals but is well past his expiry date. 4/10

Origi – Admittedly hasn’t been great when he’s been on the pitch but he scored some absolutely massive goals. Points given just for those goals. Should be allowed to see out his contract at least. 7/10

    Players out:
Lallana – 30mil(If Edwards can work his magic we might be able to get in excess of 30mil for him)
Lovren – 15mil (Only if we are getting a CB. He’s fine as cover.)
    Moreno – Free (Already gone)
    Sturridge – Free (Already gone)
Harry Wilson – 50mil (Don’t think Klopp rates him and he could fetch a huge fee right now)
Grujic – 40mil (Another one Klopp apparently doesn’t rate and from what I’ve seen of him in Germany he doesn’t fit in with what we do)
Clyne – 10-12mil (In the last year of his contract. Bang average and typical of Rodgers’ tenure. Good riddance.)
Woodburn – Loan (He needs to start playing or he’s going to miss out)
Camacho – 10-15mil (On his way out by the sound of it)
Mignolet – 5mil (Been here far too long. We should be paying someone to take him)

    What we need:
De Ligt. This level of player doesn’t come by too often and with his move to Barca on the verge of collapse we should go all out for him if he’s available.
Full-backs for each side to cover what we have.
    A DM to cover Fabinho.
A FWD to operate with the front 3. Sancho would be a dream signing. Given Dybala’s current situation he might be available as well. This is the one we should go all out on.
Shaqiri to move to the #10 role that we’ve supposedly been crying out for when we need him.

Overall it’s been a fantastic season and for once the players left absolutely nothing out there. There’s no sense of being hard done by or that we didn’t give enough. Klopp and FSG deserve all the credit for what we’re doing.

Ok, based on the outcome of the final, I’d improve the rating for the following:
    Matip from 7.5 to 8
    Henderson from 7 to 7.5
    Origi from 6 to 7

    Great season!!

Gomez 8.5 and Wijnaldum 8 for me.

I know Gini had a few bad/tired games but the majority were really good performances. He’s a bit of an unsung hero I think. As for Gomez, I don’t think we can let the injury take away from such a high standard of play. Our defence was best when he was in the side.

Credit to Matip, my most improved player. He not only filled the gap but put in some amazing performances to help us win the CL. Lovren is last choice now for me.

Although I think Hendo was poor when back in DM, his impact on our performances/results shot up since Fabinho allowed him to be more adventurous. He was very important for us, so I’ll give him a 7.5.

Alisson created some doubters at times but without him, he don’t win that CL. That could be said for others sure but look back at that late save against Napoli. He doesn’t make it, none of this happens. Then made more saves than any keeper in years in a CL final (same regards clean sheet). Like Van Dijk, he was worth every penny.

I cant be arsed to give everyone a number because I often feel that oh, I should increase it for X cause of Y.. etc etc.

    Players we need to sign?

    Nobody.

I hope there are some good opportunities but we could go into next season with the exact same side. I wouldn’t mind.
