Fellaini is playing as well as he probably can at the moment but he can’t be the long term solution to play with Pogba. He just isn’t mobile enough and lacks basic ability. On paper you would think Morgan would be the best option but he’s been as poor as any signings we’ve made in the last 3 years. He’s been ponderous and seems to lack ambition but I’m stil hopeful Jose can turn him around like he’s done with Fellaini. As for Herrera, its been proven many times that he can’t play in a midfield 2. He just isn’t strong enough but I hope to see him playing more in a 433 formation when we play the stronger teams.
I’m a bit worried about Rashford not getting game time. I don’t really understand why he’s not been brought for the last 15 when games are won. Lets face it, Ibra won’t last a full season playing 90 mins every week.

yorkshireman200 – probably the first time I’ve been almost in 100% agreement with you. I would disagree about Morgan. I’d like to see him partner Pogba for a game to see if he does actually offer more than Fellaini.

Manthistle you are a funny guy. blocks and clearances are made if your up against it, against soton we were comfortable, it’s like saying degea is crap because he didn’t make any saves against soton.

Won 4 out of 5 aerial duels is pretty good, he can only wins duels in his area. Comparing fellainis passing rate to pogba is just silly and isn’t even worth arguing about. We wouldn’t have paid 90 million for him if fellaini was a better passer.

If you watch the game you will realise soton were not breaking away through the middle. This was down to fellaini being in his position and stopping the breakaways. You need to get over your love for carrick and schneidelin. Morgan hasn’t done anything to say he would do a better job than fellaini. I’ve not been a fan of fellaini but failing to recognize how well he has done in he defensive midfield role is just daft.

Schneiderlin for me too, but I think Jose likes Blind at the moment and wants a tall fella elsewhere to make up for his lack of height. If Smalling comes back into the team than maybe Fellaini could be dropped.

Fellaini has done nothing wrong, but he does seem to have a mistake in him.

@alfie07 Which player has no mistake in him? Even De Gea can have a howler but does it mean he should be dropped even if he improves his performances.

It is obvious that in the short term, the fight will be to see who will partner Pogba in the midfield 2. My hope, as mentioned before, is that Mourinho moves to a 4-3-3 with the a midfield 3 of Pogba, Schneiderlin/Fellaini, and Herrera; topped off with a front 3 of Martial, Ibrahimovic/Rashford, and Mkhitaryan.

Pogba6 – whilst all players have a mistake in them, it’s the frequency of the mistakes and the size of the mistakes that matter.

He also seems most likely to get red carded – he is a marked man by referees and opponents know he reacts to them winding him up.

Hatters – that’s the sort of lineup that I thought Mourinho would play here, he could well revert to that in the traditionally bigger matches.
