MM I don’t think it’s a good idea that an owner interferes in team selections as much as the intentions are good. I also don’t believe Boehly will do that, his obviously stating his admiration for certain players and its been taken out of context as it usually is. However new owners do normally have a preference for different managers so we will see how all this pans out.

MightyMoose: I can see your frustration with the manager, with the team and with the current result. Personnally I am also frustrated, but only with the result. We should have clinched the top 4 certainty long ago, yet here we are still fighting tooth and nail as we dropped so many points.

But I think it’s unfair to blame anybody for this situation. Imagine yourself working for a company that’s not going very well and is looking to get acquired by another company to be able to still exist. You won’t be able to concentrate at 100%.

Tuchel made some bad decisions, yes. The players blew our chances in Champions League, yes. But it’s football, that happens. And we just need to improve next season. The new owner isn’t blind, he must have already seen the gap between us and the top two. I just read this morning that he’s already ready to invest, ready to prepare his chequebook.

And no, he must NOT interfere with the team selection. It’s not his right

For me Tuchel will only lose his job if he fails to deliver top 4. Otherwise, with the current situation, I think what we’ve achieved is reasonable. Not spectacular as we failed to compete for the title and we fell short in QF UCL, but nonetheless if we finish in the top 4 and probably win the FA Cup (though I can’t see how, Liverpool are waaaayyy superior than us with our dodgy form): I would consider this season a success.

And probably the new owner too. Winning trophy is important in North America and our new owner is a Yank. There’s no ‘league’ here, all have to have play-offs and then FINAL. And we are in the FA Cup final. If we win the FA Cup, surely he will be satisfied and he will retain Tuchel

Of more serious concern is the news filtering through that the government and Roman are not in agreement regarding how or where or why re the money to be paid for the club. It’s too complicated to explain on here but the club can still go under and cease to exist if it’s not resolved quickly. Can’t get much worse. There’s only 2 weeks left to sort the mess out.

Anyone know if all the shareholders have a vote in this agreement., Reason I’m asking is that Boehly as the controlling director has less than 50% of shares but not all shareholders are entitled to vote.

Nothing is confirmed yet, but I read an article that the resolution between UK govt & Abramovich: https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/news/chelsea-sale-roman-abramovich-deal-23989671

Not sure about anything though, I think I will stop commenting on this subject until there’s something official from the club.

I hope there will be a great goodbye to Roman on Sunday, he deserves it after all his done for the club, the fans, London and football and at a great loss and pressure to himself. It’s not nice they way his been treated, his not in the slightest responsible or never wanted all these horrible things that’s happening right now. He must be honoured.

Luckydestiny: if I understand correctly, the UK govt is set to approve. There’s nothing official yet though. But I just read that it wouldn’t be enough as the sale needs an approval of the EU as Abramovich is a EU citizen (Portugal).

I think we’re racing against time here, Chelsea’s license expires in 7 days and there are still steps to be done for this takeover to materialize

Well I guess the club’s execs are more confident than its supporters about the future based on this latest announcement.

chelsea1967, I read about our scheduled pre-season too last week. However I think the takeover will need to be completed for the club to move forward. I just think that it seems to me that there’s a new hurdle every time. Last week it was UK govt. Now EU (Portugal). After what else.

To be honest, I am really impatient for this takeover to be done, but there’s nothing supporters can do but to wait and to hope for the best.

    67,

I’m not lying mate, ever since the sanctions started I have been on the edge. We hear conflicting reports every week. This is not in the hands of the club, the decision lies with the U.K government and how satisfied they are with the money not ending up in Roman’s pockets. Without the completion of this process, we are still in limbo, and that is what is putting many fans on the edge. Because we love and adore this club, and we can’t imagine it ceasing to exist.

I would be delighted to see this process completed ASAP. I was reading that Roman’s Portuguese passport is the only issue that is the only remaining stumbling block to the U.K government’s approval of the deal. And there is a high expectation that the deal could be completed within the next 24 hours. Again this keeps me on the edge. Hopefully, this deal will be concluded without any issues this time.

young_blue: a bit of good news. One official approval done, from Premier League. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/12620654/chelsea-takeover-todd-boehlys-bid-satisfies-premier-league-purchase-subject-to-government-green-light

So the takeover is officially one step closer. We would need the official approval from UK govt. And then from Portuguese govt.

But the less good news (dunno if that word exists :D) is that it may still be going down to the wire:

A Government source has now said: “We now believe everyone will be ready to issue the necessary licences. The last remaining hurdle boils down to a number of final technical details . It’s going to go down to the wire.”

This comes after a spokesman for Boris Johnson provided an update on Tuesday, saying: “We are working closely with Chelsea to progress the sale. We are holding intense discussions with the relevant international partners to get the necessary approvals and we will set out further details as soon as we can.

” but there’s nothing supporters can do but to wait and to hope for the best.” You nailed it right there with that comment. This has gone too far to fall over now. Too much involvement from too many people and departments. The real issue for me was finding a purchaser and the government’s sign off. Anything else is just a nuisance. The season is over so time to find something else to do and await the news. This reminds me of when I was a kid and I’d stay secretly awake waiting for mum and dad to put the christmas stocking and a few goodies at the foot of my bed for me to open first thing in the morning. We’ll be fine, just be patient. They will extend the date in need. I doubt it will come to that.
