Watched bits of last nights game against club America . Mata to the rescue. Greenwood and Chong were good. It’s pre season I know but it kinda had the same slow build up we’ve for the last 6 months. Pereira needed to play further up.
His post match comments again were bogus “Chong is physically weak” this infatuation with 6ft players who are built like trucks is bizarre.
Valencia for captain sigh ! confirmed last night that’ll be 10 translators then. I’m sorry guys but this managers body language demeanour is sapping my enthusiasm big time!
July 20, 2018 at 1:32 pm #1657818What enthusiasm?
July 20, 2018 at 1:51 pm #1657836You can’t pick a negative sentence out of a quote which is otherwise positive, to support your view of the manager. I share your view and am already pessimistic about the season. However I have been surprised before so it will be a case of wait and see. Chong looks the real deal and will undoubtedly get stronger with age.
It will be interesting to see where Lingard and Rashford and to a lesser extent Jones, will fit into the plan. More importantly will the pace of attack be increased, to promote excitement and lift the crowd from the induced torpor of last season.
July 20, 2018 at 2:01 pm #1657846These tours are about money NOT fitness & preparation. I bet inbetween games, they won’t be visiting kids in hospitals. They’ll have a packed schedule of photoshoots for sponsors. I’m not moaning. If we want to sign big money players and fill the Glazers big pockets then the team has to prostitute itself to big money markets.
And I don’t think we can draw any conclusions from how well or badly we play, or who we beat or not. My god, we have Liverpool, Real, Bayern all within a couple of days of each other.
One thing I’m a little saddened by ….. in bygone days the team would always have a couple of games against lower league (often local) clubs. It waked and warmed them up for the crunching tackles to come once the league started AND helped out a small club (normally managed by Fergie’s pal) by giving them a full house.
July 20, 2018 at 2:03 pm #1657848Big K, hopefully Jones can be fit into a first class carriage heading to Liverpool (everton)
July 20, 2018 at 2:05 pm #1657849PS I wonder how long it will be until some bright spark at the club comes up with the idea of splitting the big names in the squad into 2 teams and filling up the remaining places with youngsters then having a United A team tour USA while United B tours the Far East and the manager bounces between continents.
July 20, 2018 at 3:11 pm #1657871Are yes HH of course it’s no where near you’re “good to go“ guff! but there is a desire and ambition to see the club challenge but that depends on the next three weeks! enthusiastic to see the younger ones esp chong and pereira.
I know what your saying big k but as a manager in general he should show more fight desire and why has he not considered Pogba for captaincy?
July 20, 2018 at 3:40 pm #1657879I suspect Pogba might well be sold. Or it might be a ploy on the part of Mourhino to hasten his departure.
July 20, 2018 at 3:53 pm #1657880In that case I hope Jose is the first to get the chop!
July 20, 2018 at 3:54 pm #1657881I think Mourinho is testing Pogba’s mettle and loyalty to him. 7 games at the world cup do not a captain make. Follow instruction and deliver this season and he’ll be nailed on for captaincy. If he shows the inconsistency of last season and the dips in attitude he won’t be captain.
The success or otherwise of Pogba is now entirely dependent on whether he sees following instruction and working for the team as the way or whether he believes as a world champion he is above that and still does as he pleases.
I’m hoping from the speeches he’s delivered during the WC and the performances he gave that he’s finally maturing. Hopefully he’ll be the player we hope he is for the whole season. Do the defensive work as required and unleash his skills with purpose the rest of the time. No more stupid flicks and tricks and ambling back when the ball’s lost.July 20, 2018 at 4:23 pm #1657890JM is just not a guy that gets the juices flowing as a supporter – he is regimental, moaning and nit picking to a ridiculous degree, and the manifestation of this HAS BEEN 2 years of relatively joyless football and very poor entertainment for the fans. For Woodward and the Glazers, he is ticking all the right boxes (commercially) but its hard to look forward to this season with any great hope of attacking, spontaneous and entertaining football…
To be frank JM depresses me no matter what the topic.July 20, 2018 at 5:02 pm #1657902Torpor. Nice word.
July 21, 2018 at 3:36 pm #1658067JM has to show that he is willing to change some of his philosophy and start giving more game-time to you players, play more attractive football, improve his man-management and stop playing players out of position. Some notes from the World Cup:
1. Sweden making it to the quarter finals is further proof that Ibrahimovic was really holding the team back. Just like with United. This is something I have been arguing since a few months after he signed for United. Ibra is a very good individual player who won loads of Serie A titles but that’s it. Football is a team sport.
2. Marcos Rojo proved yet again with that goal against Nigeria that he has that fighting spirit whis makes him a very valuable United player.
3. Lukaku has the odd good game like against Brazil, but on the whole he’s simply not quite good enough to be the regular number 9 for Manchester Untied. His technique is too poor. 16 PL goals last season? Nowhere near good enough when you consider Kane got 30 in a team that finished below us in the table.
July 21, 2018 at 5:14 pm #1658084Rojo’s goal didn’t prove a thing. Have you actually watched him play for United?.With his constant fouling and lack of positional sense he’s more of a liability then a help to the team. Not good enough and never will be. Simple as that.
July 21, 2018 at 7:08 pm #1658091I’m not saying he should necessarily be an automatic first choice in every match. But he does have some very important qualities and is a valuable squad player IMO.
July 21, 2018 at 7:21 pm #1658092Fuck me @cr you are so continually deluded about Rojo that I can only presume that you are either bumming him or pulling your wire at the very thought of it on a regular basis sunshine!.
I’ll tell you what moment encapsulated Rojo and the 4 years he has spent stinking out our shirt matey, it wasn’t the flukey once in a career strike against Nigeria it was the mind numbing, oafish penalty he gave away against France when Mbappe completely destroyed him, much like his fellow clumsy oaf Phil Jones was destroyed by Hazard in the FA Cup final.
The guy is a complete and utter liability and the very fact that after 4 years at OT he still can’t get past Phil fucking Jones tells its own sorry tale pal, simple as that.July 21, 2018 at 9:41 pm #1658102I don’t like bashing our players but fact of the matter is Jones, Rojo, Smalling are all on big money and have had years to prove their worth. I could probably stomach one of the three (Smalling would be my choice) being at the club after this transfer window but will be upset if we don’t manage to sell at least two of them. One quality CB signed to partner would allow us to replace all three of them and we’d still have Lindelof, Tuanzebe and Fosu Mensah as backup
July 22, 2018 at 11:30 am #1658176Mbappé could get the better of most if not all defenders, Blacky. Argentina wouldn’t even have made it to the last 16 if it wasn’t for Rojo. He’s been at the club a lot shorter time than Jones and Smalling.
And fuck off with your disgusting language. Maybe you watch gay pornography and are a closet gay or something which I why you talk like that. Nothing wrong with being gay though. But I suppose it must be hard with people judging you all the time.
July 22, 2018 at 11:48 am #1658181Pre-season bummings.
July 22, 2018 at 11:58 am #1658191CR I beg to differ on one of you’re points! I won’t elaborate further.
