Thanks Mac. Good points made especially how we see American sports teams.

jm, fair comment but a few more Seville debacles and even I won’t be watching us for much longer!
Mac, I’ll hand it to you, you certainly know more about the Asian mentality than I do!!!

A copy of Page 9 of this topic should be sent to the Board of Directors, and Messrs. Woodward and Mourhino as soon as possible.

I feel absolutely hopeless about this season, everything seems to discombobulated. It’s disgusting that Jones, Smalling, Young, Valencia and Fellaini still play week in week out for this club.

@theMartial Art. Great to see you back posting mate. I am especially impressed with your apt use of the word “discombobulated” which I condescendingly thought would surely be beyond you.

Cheer up fella. Let’s wait for the actual performances and results before losing hope. We have played zero minutes of 2018/19 thus far.

@hatters –Unfortunately with players like Young, Smalling, Jones etc we are gonna have another poor season. City, Liverpool and Chelsea I think will be above us unless something drastic happens in terms of incomings and outgoings. The only thing that remain unchanged is Mourinhos ugly negative football style and his terrible treatment of players.

@theMartial Art. Fair enough then mate, your prediction is made. I hope you are incorrect again (even you can’t deny you are usually incorrect).

I want more goals and more ruthlessness against the smaller sides. If that happens I bet we will beat our 81 point tally from last season because our players are of a very high standard compared to the rest of the league. Another reason why I am confident is Sanchez looks fit as a fiddle and ready to prove all detractors wrong. Lastly, I think Fred will completely transform our midfield threat. He has quick feet and is a strong runner – him and Pogba in front of Matic is a seriously good looking midfield.

On the flip side, we have failed to strengthen our full back positions and we have had a completely useless preseason, the blame for this lies squarely at Ed Woodward’s feet. We have an unhappy manager who is sharing too much sensitive information (true as it may be) with the media which is causing a cycle of negativity which in turn is feeding into the fans, the blame for this lies squarely at Mourinho’s feet.

I am not so sure how the actual mood is in the camp because none of us are there, journos writing “reports” included.

I expect we will get more than last season’s 81 points but I agree with you that it might not be enough because Liverpool and City look worryingly strong. Chelsea not so much, they still don’t have a proper goal scorer and are still at risk of losing Hazard and Courtious.

Manchester United stories sell papers and get clicks. Moaning Mou has created his own beast during the summer with his overly candid remarks to the media. I’m not convinced that all is lost because we still have the same first team plus Fred and Dalot.

If we win our first two games the narrative will change very quickly and the same journos and pundits will change their tune with no consequence because everyone in the Twitter age has the memory of a goldfish.

Like I said before. Let’s wait for the season to actually kick off.

@hatters – I have got a strong feeling we are going to win the league… Hope i am correct this time around 🙂

But, I am not going to delude myself here, we cant compete for the EPL title. Doesnt matter which players we would want to be starters or whats the formation, it’s obvious this style of football is outdated and isnt taking us anywhere, we need change.

The style, tactics and identity are the most important thing 1st, more aggressive quicker movement of the ball and press. Sandro on the left Trippier on the right back 3 of Bailly Lindeloff and Jose Gimenez Pogba Pereira and Fred midfield, Sanchez and Lukaku up top. We need Sandro and Trippier as our wingbacks to give us the speed width and quality crosses in the box. If Jose won’t change his mentality this won’t happen.

There’s 6 days left in the market, I don’t see us signing any top players from now on. Liverpool have improved their weak areas, City are still ahead of us, Jose seems uninterested. I don’t even see us finishing 2nd. (I’m not being negative, I’m being realistic).

Hatter – Totally agree with the first part of your post. There really are lots of positives, like Fred completing the midfield but also Pereira being like a new signing. Sanchez could have a great season. As for Mourinho being negative and moody – i’m pretty sure it’s a very well constructed act designed to create a siege mentality within the club. I just have a feeling he’s playing an absolute blinder – we’ll see!

@hatters … what did you do to TMA. One moment he has us in 4th place then you sing from the choirsheet and suddenly he has a strong feeling we’ll win the title. I’d love to hear your patter with the girls down the pub.

@happyhurling … my problem with your glass full theories is they invariably rely on the unexpected happening, a reversal of trend.

If it rains all week, you predict it’ll be sunny at the weekend just because that’s what you hope. If the rain clouds were moving away I’d believe it, but if there’s no indication whatsoever I just don’t buy it. I think its more likely the weather tommorow will be the same as it was today.

What makes you think Fred will be a roaring success in his first season? Was Pogba, was Herrera, was Schneiderlin, was Fellaini. How many new signings the past 10 years have hit the ground running?

Pereira is not an established first team player let alone an established star. Even if he develops well what grounds is there to think he’ll make a significant difference. How many youth players have become stars since Scholes 20 years ago?

Yes Sanchez could have a good season and he could have a stinker. How many signings have turned out to be stars after disappointing in their first season. If Sanchez ended the season on fire we could say the trend was he was improving. But he didn’t. Looking “sharp” preseason when he hasn’t had a world cup and is playing on summer pitches in friendlies is meaningless.

And Mourinho’s moods are just a clever ploy. Yeah sure. As the good Dr. Spooner would say ….

Is Mourinho doing a cunning stunt OR happyhurling being a stunning **** ?

Well Lindelof’s having a decent first half against Bayern. Why the fuck we’d want another CB is beyond me. Maybe Mourinho’s got OCD. Use the money and buy a creative midfielder or a decent full back ffs.

Agree jm,or a right winger. Looking at Mata against Bayern and he is easily brushed away,no surprise really. We are pulled back by Bayern and cant get hold of the ball.
Havent seen much of Fred yet,Lindelof and Bailly are the best players so far.

Can’t get out of our own half as usual Zico, fucking awful. Herrera and Pereira non fuckng existent. Absolutely nothing in front of the back four. Same old story, nobody with the technical ability or composure to keep the ball. I actually feel sorry for Sanchez, runs his billocks off every game and for what? Rashford fucking nowhere. It’s players who play in the middle of the park or wide up front wrig pace and technical ability we need. Yes, we’ve got players to come back in but there’s really on Pogba and Matic who are comfortable with the ball.

just back from Liverpool due to business I couldn’t help but notice the place is buzzing with optimism and the scousers were out in force with their replica tops! You drive around you can sense it believe me. If only we could have something to be optimistic about.

I hear the Bayern game is going according to script complete borefest!

Fucking embarrassing as usual. Fuck me, Bayern are jogging and don’t start their season for another theee weeks. United look like they’re at the end of the season, fucking knackers. It’s like a lower league team trying to get a replay in a cup game. The front six are absolutely fucking pants, although I do have sympathy for Sanchez. Why any cunt would want to spend what’s left in the kitty on a CB is totally fucking astonishing. Nothing at full back, nothing in midfield and nothing up front.
