RESPONSE TO MARK .. APRIL 8th 10.58 and 11.07 .. thankyou for your consideration , but please see comments below.
RESPONSE TO YNWA March 27 2016 … agreed
Response to Mattant 79 ..Looks like it
    Response to Milton-Nunez73 agreed
Response to use-baggies … was gonna respond but forgot what your post was about
Response to Punch Metz .. feb 24 12.00 also forgot what your post was about , but i did want to respond.

YOURSAY TEAM / BLOGGY… Look at the above… the only way to comment on others’ posts! …can you not simply accept and admit that it is far better to encourage replies DIRECT to a post. And Mark , who cares if they dont ‘move up the page .. they are still easily readable and accessible on old format , and the ‘time’ of response is key , not the page position

ALSO , time to accept that posters are not going to come back due to minor changes and ‘improvements’ to the site you are doing now, or success/failures of their team … they are gradually leaving BECAUSE OF THE FORMAT!!

SO WHAT .. if your new format is the same as all the other forums… does not mean it is right! When you closed down for a month , i looked at many other forums , and didn’t sign up exactly because they were like this.. not a patch on the YOURSAY i so enjoyed. It was not broke.. why did admin try to fix it!!???

I am glad thumbs up may be returning .. please make then NOT anonymous , so we know who is agreeing with us , and so multiple thumbs from same posters cannot be possible (in any case .. 1 i dont believe that ever happened .. 2 maybe just very rarely by bored , or resentful people 3 they are only an issue when ‘down’ as they are designed to hurt/ belittle by those same people). If simple thumbs up were still in play , at least 3 of my responses above were unnecessary.

As regards BLOGGY’S post about missing all the old contributors (even Beast), i agree .. its the variety and numbers of posters, and the ‘nowt so strange as folk..’ phenomenon that defines a great site.

EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES .. true courage is shown, and admiration earned, in admitting them , and rectifying them. You should have seen some of Bloggy’s golf courses ..!! Dear Lord , one 18 holer was designed on sandy ground and collapsed into a 6 hole pitch and putt with the most bunkers in the world!! Poor old Bloggy!! (only kidding!!)

Riddler I too liked the direct reply option on the old page, and agree that they allowed a more personal exchange between posters. That was a good thing when the exchange was good natured and polite, but it often encouraged insults and arguments which would run and run, boring everyone else to death…not that you and I ever became embroiled in such nonsense of course!

As to your referral to my wonderful pitch and putt course built in your part of North London…well, as you say…everyone makes mistakes!?

    Cheers mate.

Riddler, this is getting tiresome. You’re wasting your breath, a) because the way this forum looks is not down to me, and b) because I’ve told you several times there is zero chance of us reverting back to the old forum, for reasons which I have explained.

I don’t know what else I can possibly say on the matter, but I’ll say this again: You may long for a return to the old-style forum, but there are plenty that would be against it. You do not speak for everyone on this site.

Yes Mark , i know i am flogging a dead horse , and i don’t speak for everyone. On the other hand, it deserves a good flogging , and there seems to be more dissent than praise. Ill keep shtum on it for a while , and watch with interest whether the site flourishes or flounders.

Hi there – is there any way to remove the crazy amount of NEW! symbols showing before the General Football and Non-Football options? One will suffice if there are multiple updates.

    Thanks!

Sympathy, frankly there are much bigger problems that need resolving before that. It looks daft but doesn’t really impinge on anything.

    #963371

@mark Holmes – Fair enough, never really noted any other stuff myself, although like many on here I think I preferred the old format, but I can’t really say I’ve noticed actual bugs or major issues from my end.

I’ve just tried to post but it immediately logged me out. When I logged in again the post had disappeared. CBA to do it again! It’s no surprise that this new version of TeamTalk forum isn’t attracting fans!

I don’t know anything about posting from Phone, but if it is a computer if you are using Firefox as your browser, you should be able to save your password details so that you are automatically logged in each time you visit the site/forum.

And with this browser, say if you were typing a post and you have a power cut half way through, it would automatically take you back to that point after re-connecting and clicking restore when hitting the Firefox browser button.

I’m not sure about Internet Explorer or Google Chrome, but Firefox works for me.

    Hope this helps.

It’s not really a problem so much as a suggestion. Good job on making the “New” indicator more visible, but even better would be to just use one tag and have a number count of how many articles have new posts in them on the top left corner.

Just so that there isn’t the stream of New New New New New… when you enter the forums. It just seems a little bit unsightly, especially now that the New tag is more visible.

I honestly didn’t think it was a problem worth worrying about, but as we’ve received a few e-mails about it we’ve now got rid of the ‘new’ buttons.

This is the first time I have logged in since the Teamtalk site was changed. I don’t know which genius decided it needed to change but I think it is dreadful…..and not
    a patch on the original.

I’ve just written a lengthy diatribe only to be ‘logged out’ when I posted it. Needless to say when I logged back in the post had gone! Two matches left this season and I don’t think that I’ll be posting after that. The old site had its problems but this was is far worse!

Can I ask, phone or computer Northwich Baggie?

Once logged in, you should automatically be logged in everytime you visit the site.

Using the Firefox browser will allow this and not only that, if say you were to have a powercut half way through typing a post, on reboot, the browser will automatically take you back to that point and you would not lose your text.

    Hope this helps.

It was on computer using Chrome. Firefox has had its day except maybe on Linux. This is not the first time this has happened to me and from what I’ve seen I’m by no means the only victim. It’s got to the point where if it happens again then that’s me finished.

    Northwich,

I’ve gone back to Firefox after restoring my comp to it’s original factory settings (from repair).

I was using Chrome not so long ago, and I didn’t experience your problem.

Once you have logged in, you should remain logged in on every visit to the site.

And, in an event of say power failure, on reboot, when clicking the browser, you usually get a prompt to ‘restore’ meaning taking you back to everything as you left it.

You wouldn’t or shouldn’t lose your text and should stay permanently logged.

When you are typing something lengthy, just to ensure you don’t lose any text, open up another window to check if you are not logged out.

You can always copy-paste if needbe thereafter.
