I am a Liverpool fan and a Rafa Benitez fan too. I think he would be a breath of fresh air for your club. He worked wonders at our club with players who were sub-standard. The likes of Djimi Traore, Djibril Cisse, Josemi, Sinama Pongolle and Igor Biscan all played a part in helping the club win a Champions League and perform well in the league too. When you look back at his dismissal and then the likes of Hodgson and Rodgers following him you realise how lucky you were to have him at the helm. He’s got a great eye for talent and unearthed players like Reina, Arbeloa, Luis Garcia, Xabi Alonso, Mascherano, Kuyt and Torres etc. Along with bringing the absolute best out of the likes of Carragher, Gerrard, Hyppia etc. Your club is in a bit of trouble and he would be the ideal candidate to come in and save you. You have a few talented individuals, but on the whole your squad is weak. He would help sort out your frailties to a degree, until he could splash the cash. His pulling power will ensure that you would no longer have to splash out £12m a pop on ‘average’ English/French players.

I think, the one thing he would bring that Newcastle badly need at the moment,is defensive stability. It won’t be the prettiest football to watch, but balls to looking pretty,Newcastle need to win ugly, and Rafa can do that,as well as win in style. The only problem would be (if he only joined till the end of the season)that he would have to work with the players already at the club, similar to what Klopp is doing at Liverpool until the summer, and whether he could improve the likes of Collocini is debatable (sorry lads, but he’s crap isn’t he?). As Kieran says above,we had a lot of substandard dross at Liverpool when he won the CL,but the players got to grips with the system, and all knew their jobs. If he can do the same with the Newcastle lads,he may just keep you up. Fingers crossed for you that he is interested. Forget Moyes,he’s shite. Rafa is a winner. It’s like choosing between a Ferrari and a pushbike. No contest. Benitez all the way. Good luck to you. You are fantastic, passionate fans, and you deserve better

Truly hope he has enough time to turn things around and that you win 9 of your last 10 games!!
He’ll try to shore up defensively first of all but I would worry that Leicester is too soon for him. Not many have stopped Vardy , Mahrez & co.
if he keeps you up you have a real chance of getting some decent players in and starting to build.
He could do a Kergan if he gets the support.
remember the saying ” the impossible we can do immediately but miracles take a little longer ” !!

A great coup for Newcastle to get a manager of Rafa’s stature and a real of sign of intent from the board. I really hope he can bring you some stability and in the long term a trophy. I have much love and respect for the man and some of the best moments of my life were thanks to him and for that I will always be grateful. It was sad to see him treated the way he was by our board and then later the Chelsea fans but in the toon army I hope he can enjoy the special relationship he did with us Liverpool fans. If you guys can get united and behind him and the team I’m sure you’ll have a recipe for success.

All the best to both Rafa and Newcastle.
