Banjo – Not really interested in this thread, but your last comment isn’t entirely accurate. Salah put his arm across Ramos as many attacking players do, to defend the ball from opposition players, never in a million years is that ever a foul. Ramos locking Salahs arm and throwing him to the ground is a foul. so VAR i think you’ll find would have backed up the claims of many on here, and not in Ramos’ favour. Like do you legit think it was a foul on Ramos? what the actual fuck.

Personally I think it was a foul by Ramos and a yellow card and there was no intention to cause injury to Salah but whatever it was it’s over now and we’re nearly a week on now and no amount of discussing the rights and wrongs of what happened a week ago is going to change anything. Time to move on now folks.

Watch the bit about 2:16 in a couple of times, ref’s positioning doesn’t help, but you’ll see what I’m getting at…. Salah reaches for Ramos’s arm and hooks on to it.

Like I said, not defending Ramos… potty mouth! 🙂

Banjo, I hear what you’re saying. Nobody excusing Ramos, and not that Salah did anything particularly wrong – they were two players at that point who were tussling together. What Ramos did which was very clever, was that he dived from the slight nudge by Salah, decided to go down, and then used the opportunity of their close tussling, to lock him arm around Salah and lock him down to the ground. To have deduced all that quickly in VAR would have taken some time during an actual match.

Exactly Mikus, the ref (who obviously had a brilliant view) put it down to a bit of hand-bags, 6 of one, half dozen of the other….

The actual key sign for me of Ramos’s guilt did was how quickly he sprung back up to the ground as soon as he had done the deed.

If you watch the full speed view before all the slow motion bits, you can see he is twists hard as he’s landing, onto the arm. This is after locking and pulling his arm under him. He’s so good at it that half of ye think it’s either nothing or only a yellow.

Even if Salah had fouled him in the build up (he didn’t), it wouldn’t change the fact that this should have been a red card, for dangerous play.

Like, if this weren’t something that I am personally so disgusted with, I’d have to give him credit for getting away with it.

But ya, it’s done to death now. Just as a matter of interest, has anyone changed their opinion either way on this, since the match? My guess is maybe no.

This says it all really. Ramos holds the record for the most red cards shown to a Real Madrid player (24 at the end of 2017);[77][78] upon reaching 19 dismissals in the Spanish league, he overtook a record held jointly with Xavier Aguado and Pablo Alfaro.

We’ve been saying on here for years that our players were too soft. That’s one of the main criticisms levelled at our defensive players especially. They’re all softys. We need more players who will leave a leg in or wind up an opponent. I don’t condone cheating in the game but this kind of roughhousing is an inevitable part of it. It’s about time that Klopp smelled the coffee and brought in some steel to deal with this.

When all is said & done, I don’t think we benefited from good refereeing in the final. The same can be said for when we played at home in the premiership. They seemed to go awol when the big decisions were needed. No penalties, Spurs got more than us at Anfield. Ramos won’t feel upset at not adding to his red card collection in the cl final for sure. That’s football, time to move on from this thread & swallow any lingering disappointment for the sake of good sportsmanship. Congratulations Real Madrid on winning a 3rd consecutive Champions League. A historic achievement any club would feel proud of. I hope we will be back again next season to go all the way this time. Ynwa

Karius has been seen by doctors in USA and they say he suffered a concussion in the cup final.

Didn’t someone elbow him in the match?

As Alfie says confirmation from doctors that Karius suffered concussion in the final after an elbow to the head by…….that’s right, cheating scumbag Ramos. Two players taken out by the low life bastard. I just hope someone severs both his cruciates and ends this dirty cunt’s playing career.

If Karius was feeling ill effects after the contact as the report from the hospital says, why the hell did he not come off. We can’t blame Ramos for that. I’m not fully buying into this one!

Yes Alfie, Ramos took a swing at him and connected with his elbow while the ball was nowhere near. Next thing that happens was that Karius gave the ball away to Benzema.

Again, poor refereeing. Karius told the ref he had been elbowed. The ref looked straight into his eyes & should have seen dilated pupils associated with concussion & stopped the game for a head injury & called on the physio.

Two doctors confirmed it, bofa which is good enough for me and Karius would have been in no position to make a call re coming off. I’ve been unfortunate enough to have suffered concussion and you haven’t a clue what’s going on.

Agree with Sanj, the ref and assistants would have been aware and didn’t follow protocol for head injuries. The ref was a cock.
