So Salah is a serial cheat after only one incident? God knows how many serial cheaters you have in Pogba and Herrera then.

Well young_blue that can only be either 0, 1 or 2, so God’s probably not the only one who knows

From Pogba to Vanistel Rooy, to Cristiano Ronaldo to Ashley Young, no team has more divers than your team in the Premeir League era.

Mo Salah. Players player of the year, football writers player of the year and possibly golden boot winner. Got his country to their first World Cup since football wasn’t about money and could end up a European Champion and Balon D’Or winner all in one crazy season. Could also help us to El Sexto. All spoiled by one alleged dive? Probably not.

Diving is wrong regardless of who does it. The new laws bought in to try and stamp this out have not had the impact that was expected or desired and possibly will not until VAR is introduced and even then I am not so sure

That’s why I am more in favour of a panel reviewing incidents after the game and administering a minimum of a 3 match ban for anyone deemed guilty of diving. For serial offenders the match ban has to increase. The fact that they will miss games during a season seems to me to be the only real deterrent that we have…? KTBFFH

CFC1905 – I have to agree with you, this law of only banning players if they gain an advantage ie. the ref gives a penalty is rubbish, why should it be a worse offence if the ref falls for it than if he doesn’t, same offence for me, should be the same punishment.

Totally agree with CFC, the only way is a retrospective 3 game ban. That means Young, Fellaini, Pogba, Lukaku et al would play about 10 games a season.

Not sure how Sterling avoids getting mentioned. He seems to have been given about 37 penalties without ever being fouled. And no suggestion of ever being “looked at”, not even for that last one where he launched himself about 18 inches before he even arrived at the opponent’s leg.

No point in naming names as all teams have players who do this as well as those that possibly give it a go as they are desperate or see a potential opportunity during a game

Bottom line is that if it is intentional with a view to gain an unfair advantage then they should be banned. The only benefit I see of how the rule is now is that the punishment is real time, i.e. they cannot do any more damage to a team if they are red carded. What if a player dives for a penalty or free kick that wins the game. The team that is offended against still loses the 3 points and other teams will benefit from the retrospective ban..?

Unfortunately I do not see an easy way around that…? KTBFFH

You have to credit the honesty that Klopp have shown in talking out to Salah about the diving incident. some manager would have defended their player. fair play to him.

CFC – You are right in other teams getting the benefit, but that is the same with other offences that are dealt with retrospectively, and you could even extend that to red cards towards the end of a game. The opposition player could make a season ending foul in the last few minutes, you lose a player for the last few games, and the other team could lose possibly their best player against a team you are fighting with for the title, but how do you get round this? You could say that, the player in question misses the next three games against the team he committed the offence, but imagine the complications in policing that, especially once you take transfer into the equation.

No point in naming names, CFC, except that it does answer mufc’s point in starting this thread as to whether this would be applied universally, or only to smaller clubs.
