O’Boyle in as a deputy DOF sounds like a very smart appointment.
May 31, 2022 at 11:24 am #2101164City and Liverpool after Kalvin Phillips?
May 31, 2022 at 11:41 am #2101173He definitely won’t come to us anyway, I’d say Liverpool most likely. I’d even the thought of playing for a Manchester club as a Leeds boy would be hard. Although, at the end of the day, you’re a professional athlete, you go where you get paid and to maximise your career.
May 31, 2022 at 12:57 pm #2101211Must say I dont rate him and never have. Bad injury record of late too.
Wouldn’t lace Rice or Kantes boots.May 31, 2022 at 1:06 pm #2101216De Jong rumours gathering a bit of traction in the media here in Barcelona. Most of it is coming from Sport which makes the Metro look like serious investigative journalism. Mundo Deportivo which is the Barca mouthpiece seem to be a bit more cautious. Reading between the lines on what they are saying it seems Barca would sell for the right fee but the player doesn’t want the move and Utd don’t want to pay the fee. Hopefully a call is made either way and it won’t run all summer.
May 31, 2022 at 1:17 pm #2101218He has come out and said Barca is his dream club and thats where he wants to play. Nothing wrong with that. He is also forcing Barca to shit or get off the pot – tell me I’m staying or tell me you want to sell me to raise funds.
Where United are concerned, we are not going to compete for big prizes in the next 3 years. The club is upside down, a host of players are leaving and there are some very poor players and very bad apples remaining on the books. We dont have champions league and we have a new coaching team who have it all to prove in England.
Question, what decent player would be attracted to that situation this summer?
May 31, 2022 at 2:10 pm #2101242Talk also of Anto and Andy coming back this summer. I’d prefer we rip up their contracts rather than give them another go.
May 31, 2022 at 2:28 pm #2101249Moral – Players who want to write a new chapter in Manchester United’s history. Players who want to come and get the club back to where it belongs. Between 6 & 10th 🙂
May 31, 2022 at 2:28 pm #2101251Everyone out of contract let go – 12 this summer and next.
Anyone who there is a modicum of interest in, such as a club willing to pay a nominal fee, then sell. I’m thinking Henderson (not comfortable with ball at his feet or Bailly for example).
Anyone else who a club would be out of their mind to pay a fee for, loan them until their contracts expire (Anto, Andy, Jones, VDB, insert name here). If it means part paying loan wages, so be it.
We dont rip up contracts – Greenwoods will be contractually void should he be charged and found guilty. The above will be costly but necessary – the price of ineptitude in recruitment and contract management.
Andy is not going to develop speed.
Martial is not going to get a heart.
Bailly is not going to get a brain.
And on and on…..May 31, 2022 at 2:42 pm #2101258Moral, are you sure you haven’t been watching the Wizard of Oz? Bailly is the scarecrow, Martial is the tin man, although Andy sure as shit isn’t a lion
May 31, 2022 at 3:59 pm #2101307De Jong doesn’t want to come, so we should move on from him. Phillips is decent but not great and, as already stated, has started picking up injuries. Fortunately, his sheep shagging mentality means he won’t come anyway. As for the O’Boyle appointment, only time will tell, but him and Murtough as effectively DoF and assistant doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence.
May 31, 2022 at 5:07 pm #2101344Murtough, O’Boyle and Fletch are all learning on the job.
They all have plenty experience in Football but its been in different roles.A square pegs in round holes culture together with a jobs for the boys epidemic courtesy of Ferguson needs to be completely cut out. Is Mike Phelan still on the books?
I think United has lost its allure for attracting players – even young, talented and hungry ones. Far too much uncertainty, ineptitude and negativity around the club.
Going to be a long road back…..
May 31, 2022 at 6:12 pm #2101385It happened to Liverpool too, the only cure for them was to change owners, only when FSG took over did things change.
May 31, 2022 at 6:38 pm #2101394City and Leeds don’t really have much of a rivalry do they?
Would be great if Phillips moved to one of them or Chelsea, leaving Rice on the market next yearThis de Jong shit can’t be going on all summer… or more than another week if you ask me. The club needs to be (and probably is) working on alternative targets in the meantime
That said, if ten Hag is absolutely determined to sign de Jong, one way to buy some time would be to sign a top quality CB, DM and CF while also shipping out deadwood
May 31, 2022 at 7:00 pm #2101404Barcelona are absolutely in the shit financially. At this point we could offer €50m and they’d have to seriously consider it cos it’s a good offer AND they get his wages off their books.
May 31, 2022 at 8:15 pm #2101427Barcelona are going for Lewandowski and Raphinha 😂😂
May 31, 2022 at 9:51 pm #2101457They’ll need our €50m so….
June 9, 2022 at 6:39 pm #2103954June 10, 2022 at 12:57 pm #2104152Zidane to PSG?
June 10, 2022 at 1:17 pm #2104159Woudln’t surprise me at all @mufc – think they’ve wanted him for a long, long time and want to get a French manager in to give them more of a local vibe to the club.
Also think that it might see Pogba join them this summer.
