Nine, you are mixing up profit (non cash) and cash flow (cash). The two are not the same.
You are also assuming that Fordstams loss was the only expenditure they had and than Fordstam had no income that year. Not sure that turned out to be the case.
Fordstam funded Chelsea to the tune of £34m that year. Plenty of articles around stating so.
Sorry that you are too sensitive to see that.
June 1, 2018 at 7:32 pm #1643622Gas, Chelsea struggle with matching transfer expenditure v both City and United now.
Last season Chelsea spent just over £250m but that reduced to £75m net.
Tbh I can’t see Chelsea spending too much more than £75m net this Summer either.
June 1, 2018 at 7:38 pm #1643623Gas, ha ha no you weren’t seeing things I deleted the reference to Christmas Day sorry!😊
June 1, 2018 at 9:04 pm #16436311.1 bn interest free loan? This does have a very familiar ring to it, and I’m not sure why it’s still allowed to happen. I’ve got no problem with ridiculously wealthy people buying a football club and even buying success for it, while basking in the warm glow of fan adulation.
But, they should not be able to demand it back when they decide to leave. If you don’t want to spend your cash on a football club, then don’t. If you do want to, then do, but don’t ask for it back, otherwise it begins to look a bit like a money laundering exercise.June 1, 2018 at 11:22 pm #1643636Well me, the Pagans and Oliver Cromwell are all very upset with you and your deletions nine. Have a good weekend mate.
June 2, 2018 at 12:12 am #1643637Ha,ha, you too Gas.😊
June 2, 2018 at 10:47 am #1643685There is this UK hypocrisy. One hand they are refusing the Russian Money. And on the other hand they are accepting the Saudi money. And selling weapons to Saudi Arabia that they use to kill innocent Yemeni civillians.😩
June 2, 2018 at 12:04 pm #1643712there is no evidence of a direct link between Saudi monies brought into the UK for football related transactions and moneys provided for the purposes described above and such suggestions are insulting and immediate removal of such a comment should be imminent so as to not cause further offence to other Brits on here.
June 2, 2018 at 5:15 pm #1643791Haha. It seems nothing gets Alfie’s juices flowing as rampantly as a bit of Chelsea arse-kicking.
No surprise that a topic questioning Chelsea’s future has him resurfacing, armed with a barrage of ‘facts’ (must be true if you read it in the Guardian right alf?!)
To everyone else: Chelsea’s immediate future (ie next season at least) looks to be full of uncertainty, what with big players at the end of contracts, Roman the exile, Conte etc., so all in all I am expecting another difficult season, and would be happy with a top four finish at best.
In the longer term I don’t have any concerns. The club is mature enough now to continue with or without Abramovich, depwndong who he sold to if indeed his time is coming to an end.
One issue that for me is crucial is installing a competent director of football. Chelsea’s model has always been to have a high turnover of managers, so that to me means that we need someone who truly understands football to provide continuity throughout the frequent managerial changeovers.
Emanalo was much derided by many a Chelsea fan during his long tenure, but for me he fulfilled a crucial role that is now being poorly covered by non-football execs.
I was hoping Frank would be coming on board, but Derby’s gain is our loss.
June 2, 2018 at 5:50 pm #1643797You’re a brave man Wisefan making such accusations on a British footy site. Best have some serious proof to back it up.
June 2, 2018 at 5:56 pm #1643799As I said Stuilise, that is a statement that they best remove as it has the potential to be inflammatory and I am not targeting the poster as he most likely will suggest. Simply not an appropriate post at all.
June 2, 2018 at 6:23 pm #1643807No need for your usual nonsense Ash.
I genuinely didn’t expect the over-sensitivities of nine and yourself to be troubled by a matter of fact, which is easily verified by a quick google search. Which, no doubt, is the reason you both offer nothing but cheap jibes by way of reply.

All good points above Ash. Not sure the postponement of the new Stadium signals Roman exiting he’s as much a fan now as he is an owner imo but if that’s what happens I don’t think we would be short of takers. Cheers 999
June 9, 2018 at 5:45 am #1645980Jim Ratcliffe Britain’s richest man worth over 20 £ billion has allegedly had a bid to buy Chelsea FC rejected by Roman Abramovich as have other recent bidders as Abramovich has no intention to sell the club.
June 9, 2018 at 7:14 am #1645984Jim Ratcliffe? 999 I wouldn’t mind at all but Roman want sell. Every billionaire wants an EPL team as we say the EPL is the playground of billionaires. Even the world cup cannot match it for world wide enthusiasm.
June 9, 2018 at 7:22 am #1645985Actually there is truth to what Wiseman says. Politicians are constantly hypocritical on one hand punishing a government or group for one thing whilst having relationships with other countries or groups who commit far worst atrocities. Its not a good world we living in.
June 9, 2018 at 9:23 am #1646018There is a different section to discuss political issues. Football finances are not used to finance the arming of another country to commit atrocities against their people and therefore there should be no correlation here. Poor form to interrelate in an attempt to make some sort of political statement against the English government.
June 12, 2018 at 11:39 pm #1647204Real Madrid have lost their boss 10 days ago. But they moved quickly and found a new boss. On the other hand Mr boring is still in charge at Chelsea. And no sign of a new boss in place almost a month after the season is finished. No sign of new players. Because we don’t know who will be in charge and players are reluctant to sign for us. If this situation doesn’t worry you. Then i don’t know what will worry you.
June 13, 2018 at 6:17 am #1647218WM don’t think Conte is at the grounds or even interested any longer but his not going to let the club get away with the massive payout. Don’t think anyone would.
June 14, 2018 at 10:54 am #1647688There is a World Cup to overdose on starting in 5 hours that will have my full attention whether England go all the way or go out early. All the worrying in the world won’t change things at Chelsea so we may as well relax and enjoy the World Cup and see where we are at upon it’s conclusion. There would be no doubt that things are happening in the background so let’s just wait and see what the end result is with that and then panic 🙂
