What a mad end to the transfer window. Charlie Austin bought (good if he stays fit) plus Diangana, Pereira, Willock on loan and Leko and Field out on loan. We’ll be alright for wingers as the three loanees are right wingers although Willock can play as a striker. Last season we had no attacking midfielders apart from Barnes and now we’re overloaded. Could be an interesting season!

Great eleventh-hour business. Charlie Austen is the really interesting one as he’s a prolific goalscorer at this level. He could be the one that makes all the difference in a promotion bid. And I’m sure our midfield will create chances for him. The only area where we are pretty light is central defence but that should be rectified when Hegazi is fit. And maybe Furlong can fill in there. I am pretty excited. We’ve retained Philips, Gibbs, and Hegazi and I expect Edwards to continue to fulfil his potential. The most positive thing is that we have a good, young, energetic well-balanced midfield. I expect Livermore’s place to be under threat when things have settled down.

Sorry to see young Field cast off for the season but we seem to have made some promising acquisitions. We shall have a much younger team with an emphasis on attack by the look of things which I’m sure most of us will enjoy but Austin is probably the key to our success. If he can stay fit and pop in 20+ we’ll have a decent season and maybe another play off chance and anything better would be a real bonus. Looking forward to tomorrow despite what promises to be a long and very wet journey!
