I guess all good things must come to an end. 6 great seasons where we consecutively reached top 4 with 6 trophies to add. Thank You Sadio Mane

We definitely got our moneys worth here. His most memorable goal for me was against his new employers, actually.

Best of luck to him. I can’t knock him for wanting more money, as he was under-paid here for years. he’s still a very wealthy guy with many more million ahead for him in his career but ya, we could have paid him more. I still don’t think he was ever in Salah territory and we’ll be losing him soon enough too.
All good things come to an end and Mane really represents the first out of quite a few over the next 2 seasons.

One of the most exciting players we’ve had at least I can remember. Favorite goal was ironically the one against München, although his first against Arsenal was pretty good too!

There is something happening in football though. I wonder if maybe it’s financially peaked, at least until the next round of TV deals are to be negotiated.

Have to admit I was underwhelmed when the signing of Mane was first announced. Thought it didn’t send any signals of ambition at all. That was before trusting FSG and Klopp fully on their signings.

Couldn’t have been more wrong. What a player he has been for us!
I am forever a Mane fan (and trust our transfers blindly).

I will admit that I knew little of him, except what he did to us. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw him play for us but I think i remember getting swept away min a bit of the hype befoprehand… long time ago though.

I tell you what, I mwasn’t impressed with us signing Salah. Now that I do remember. I thought we over-paid and I rememebr going on about how his goals wouldnt work against PL defences etc! ha!

As you say, there was a time when FSG weren’t whole-sale trusted when it came to signings. We really have been spoiled with this group. Just makes you all the sadder, knowing that times’s kinda up, or getting there.

We’ve got to keep adding to this team, or they won’t get the legacy that they deserve.

Mane is basically earning approx an xtra million pound a month by going to Bayern.

Hi Ginger, from my understanding (could be way off), he was on 200k a week at Liverpool and he’ll be earning 250k a week at Bayern giving him a 200k a month pay-rise.

My understanding was that he was on much less than that at Liverpool albeit that’s not taking into consideration bonuses.

Ya, he was on closer 100k/week. All I’ve seen of these apparent massive bonuses has been talk on here.

It’s really not at all normal for the bonuses to be an equal or main part of a salary. If someone wants to give me something that shows why Mane’s deal went against pretty much all professional contracts, then fine. Until then, I’m going to assume that he was under-paid.

Nobody knows what he was earning, except him and the club. There are two fairly reputable sites that claim to know players contracts….one says he was on 100k and the other says he was on 200k since last renewal. We dont know. We do know that our wage bill is not a small one. And we do know that Klopp and liverpool did appreciate Mane and would not have treated him like a mug.
Hell of a player, loved having him at the club. Sometimes you just want a change of scene. If it comes with a bit of extra cash, no harm done.
Diaz is a worthy successor although so far doesnt look as sharp in front of goal. But let’s not forget that Mane could often do all the hard work and then blaze over the bar. He scored a lot of goals for us….but his finishing wasnt always sharp….he could have scored a lot more! I think I’ll always remember that Arsenal goal of his….it was suarezesque! I remember thinking Damn this guy can really play! But if Nunez ability to finish chances translates to the premier league, then him and Diaz are going to be an incredible combo.

Fulcrum… those basic wage reports only account for 200 million of 300 million the club pays in salaries

Really enjoyed Mane in the PL except when he played against Chelsea brilliant player and a big loss for Liverpool and the PL.

Think my favourite was first one ever for us, against Arsenal, as it had everything you could want from a forward and made me realise how good a player we had just bought. It also raises the interesting topic of how he may have performed for us if we hadn’t then acquired Salah and whether Sadio would have continued to have played on the right flank instead of the left (ignoring this season when he started operating more centrally after Diaz arrived). He clearly had a great left foot, but as he spent most of his Liverpool career cutting in from the left, then it promotes the favouring for right-footed shots, Also, loved Jurgen’s reaction to the goal where he sort of slapped himself on the face to bring himself into the reality of what a stunning purchase they’d just made.

Anyone else remember the utd fans including on these forums bragging how they got Mkhitaryan and we had to settle for the worse and more expensive Mane. Dont think anyone needs reminding how that one turned out 🤣
