OUT! That’s it. I don’t think I can stand this anymore. Slow football. Bad result. Unmotivated players. What happens to our beautiful team? Bring whoever. Even Jose. 2 wasted hours on my Sunday morning. I can’t imagine fans who travel to Cardiff. We won’t play UCL. We won’t win Europa like this. Sarri has been a wrong appointment. I hope every party realizes that now. It’s not the way we should move forward.April 1, 2019 at 8:50 pm #1739246
Dave is right but I’m not sure the match going fans and in particular the away attending Chelsea fans will hold back on their criticism of Sarri if we don’t begin to see better performances and CHO beginning to start in the PL.April 2, 2019 at 7:45 am #1739292
I am far from his greatest fan but I have to say that I do think that Sarri in a weird way is trying to protect CHO and keep him grounded. However, the obvious issue with that is that our performances are poor and the injection of youthful promise and freedom could make such a difference
I have also mentioned before about Zola and he looks totally bored and frustrated sitting on the bench and I never see him and Sarri speak but that is probably because from the first minute Sarri is writing notes rather than watching what is actually going on (or not) on the pitch
Chelsea fans will always back the team but they do expect the manager to work with the team and basically put out a team capable of winning. Sarri appears to be draining the team of any confidence and does not seem capable of changing anything during a game to influence the outcome
I know that he is under great pressure to deliver CL football and that cannot be easy but great managers will adapt and try something different if the situation calls for it and playing someone like CHO seems like an obvious answer which appeases the fans. If it does not work out then CHO could always be taken off
Really struggling with Sarri and his style of football currently….!! KTBFFHApril 2, 2019 at 8:10 am #1739300
Putting aside his non selection of CHO v Cardiff even off the bench what Sarri said about CHO and his performance for England was just plain unacceptable.April 2, 2019 at 2:04 pm #1739434
999 don’t take into account ex-Lpool pundit. Whatever we do, they won’t like it. They still cannot let go Gerrard’s slip and Ba scored ;). They won UCL, we did too. They haven’t won EPL in the contrary.
But agree, CHO has to start tomorrow. Pedro was useless. We just started playing when Hazard was introduced. 60 min we were inept. I like bold managers, like Mou, who have courage to bring 3 players in at the start of 2nd half !! Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. But Sarri waited and waited. Hoping Jorginho to do his magic, which he won’t as he does not have any magic but short and sideways passings.April 2, 2019 at 5:36 pm #1739505
Aindro, do you honestly think I don’t know that Liverpool pundits generally look to talk down Chelsea?
But Carragher’s is spot on here and his view reflects my own view as well as I think as the majority on this site, the majority of match going fans, the majority of pundits and the majority of the media.
So it’s much much wider than just Carragher’s view!!!!!April 2, 2019 at 9:06 pm #1739581
He’s got to go. He came and we started the season well. Since then, his football has been nullified countless times, and we’re on the brink of missing out the CL. We have the best defensive mf in the PL, and possibly the world. But that wasn’t good enough for Sarri. He chose to bring in the flimsy Jorginho, who has been a major disappointment to most. He persist with Kovacic in mf, in stead of using Barkley or Loftus-Cheek, who are both capable of beating opponents, and score goals. I’d have Willian, and even Drinkwater there before Kovacic. And the constant omission of CHO, is a disgrace. What a TWAT. The sooner he goes the betterApril 3, 2019 at 7:52 am #1739668
Last nights results means that Chelsea, and Sarri, are still very much in the hunt for CL football which I am certain has always been the prime target for the Club this year
Could he have achieved this in a better way than what we are witnessing – for me the answer is emphatically YES. But I have to give credit where it is due and we are still fighting on 2 fronts for the CL football
I do believe that Sarri has found adapting to the EPL quite difficult and probably did not realise how big a gulf and difference there is between the Italian and English leagues, however, he is paid to make those adjustments and adapt accordingly
Some big decisions to be made at the end of the season and the decision regarding our appeal next week will be a significant factor in that thinking so first and foremost the manager and the squad must focus on the results for the remaining games. Won’t be popular with everyone but it makes sense to me. But would he come back given the previous abuse.April 14, 2019 at 12:56 am #1742392
No thanks. He led us to Europa glory. But no thanks. I would prefer giving Ancelotti 2nd chance than Benitez. But again we may not have many choices considering transfer ban. Sarri is not safe yet. He has to qualify us to UCL, either through top 4 or through Europa. We’re not in a bad position but we have the most difficult schedule with Pool and Utd away still to come. I believe we won’t get 6 points from those 2 matches. Max 3 points or even 1 or 0.April 14, 2019 at 6:23 am #1742400
If Sarri or should say Chelsea win the Europa and finish in the top 4 then the club can give him more time to see if there is any progress. The team has been a bit better since RLC and Hudson are playing more and of course Hazard and the only reason they playing more is cause the instruction came from the top. So majority of fans still don’t trust Sarri. However it could change with some decent success.April 14, 2019 at 2:41 pm #1742475
I wouldn’t say no to Ancelotti Aindro if Sarri goes but Ancelotti still has two years to run on his contract from the Summer of 2019 and even if he wants to come think how difficult it was to get Sarri out of Napoli whilst Benitez will be available in the Summer.
If Sarri goes it will depend on the transfer ban who is prepared to come either way and who is gettable. We’ll see but Rafa despite his baggage is a good fit imo.
Will Sarri go? And if he did would Rafa come back probably not but there aren’t many options now.April 15, 2019 at 2:43 pm #1742813
999 indeed. Let’s see what will happen in the summer. For now, we are in a tight race for Europa and for top 4 (even though we are in a less favorite position after our loss yesterday). If Sarri is able to qualify us for the CL: I think I will be ready that he stays. But if not, for me he must go. Managers at Chelsea have been fired for less than that. Sarri has the full seasonApril 15, 2019 at 4:25 pm #1742838
We have seen a few blips but must admit that Sarri seems to have got over them. He has been instrumental in bring the likes of RLC and Barkley into the squad, giving them regular games and basically see them improve and grow over the season
Not so sure he was instrumental when it comes to CHO but regardless he has integrated him as well and between CHO and RLC I feel we look a lot more balanced team. There are always going to be bad games where sometimes these 2 have little to no impact but unless they get the games they are not going to improve
Of course Sarri is bound to say we are improving and heading in the right direction but if Hazard comes out and says he like the style and philosophy then maybe we should be looking to retain Sarri and look to expect a lot more from next season…? KTBFFHApril 15, 2019 at 5:16 pm #1742847
Big call 1905 for Roman and the Board as Bort has suggested elsewhere we can’t afford any more poor transfer windows if we get to buy in this Summer’s windows we have to get those buys right and both Higuain and Jorginho haven’t been great buys/ loans.
I don’t think qualifying or not for the CL or winning the EL will come into it if Roman and the Board think they’ve made a mistake appointing Sarri he will be gone otherwise he will get next season.
Be tough though to get a decent Manager in with a transfer ban and we’re running out of credible options now too.April 16, 2019 at 8:04 am #1742943
I actually do not think Jorginho has been as bad as people make out. Poor in terms of creating chances but he certainly is working hard in the middle to break things up and get the ball moving quickly
Agreed a big call but if we do change the manager again then we start from scratch again, so by retaining Sarri there would be a degree of continuity and you would expect Sarri to buy a couple more players that he feels would benefit the squad in his way/style
Defensively we are poor this season and so changes need to be made but I still think a lot is down to them not getting the same kind of cover that Kante provides. However, what Chelsea need most and have done for a couple of seasons now is an out and out goal scorer who will get us 25+ goals per season but that is going to be the main requirement regardless of who the manager is
As always, only time will tell but I do worry about some of the names being bandied about as potential replacements though…KTBFFHApril 16, 2019 at 8:22 am #1742949
We need a young courageous manager who also knows how to win games and if you add our resources it should be easier than current other teams they may be managing.April 16, 2019 at 8:48 am #1742961
An chance of Didier Deschamps?April 16, 2019 at 9:07 am #1742968
There’s truth in that 1905 re continuity and the names currently in the frame don’t inspire and are perhaps a reflection of where we now find ourselves.
Giving a new Manager just a season doesn’t reflect well on the Club and it’s decision making but I still wouldn’t rule out Sarri going even if he achieve a CL place.
