Surely we can’t end an entire month without a league win? Of course we can. We just broke all kinds of records with our fourth straight home loss. So much so the NorrisMcWhirter.com server crashed!

Our host’s form this month is only marginally better than ours with one win from their four league games which was doing something we couldn’t do and that’s beat West Brom at home.

Sheff U went 18 games before recording their first of the season but have recorded two more wins than us this calendar year (if that doesn’t speak how bad we are atm then nothing will).

Everything is set up for a banker home win but Klopp and co. will have had 7 whole days to sort stuff out and can only imagine the mental and physical workload this week working on a solution.

    My solution? As previously mentioned:

    Alisson
    Trent, Phillips, Davies, Robbo,
    Gini, Thiago,
    Shaqiri, Keita, Mane
    Mo….in a 4231.

Time to say ‘eff it’ something has to change and something as to give. We have 11 players who can play in their natural positions so let’s do that because what we have done previously hasn’t worked.

Since January 1 we’ve only had 5 scorers. Mo (obviously), Gini, Mane, Bobby and Trent. Take Mo out of that equation (is it one?) and we have just 4 individual contributing goals from the rest of the squad. One goal each in 2021 from Bobby, Mane, Gini and Trent and absolutely buggar all from the rest of the squad. That’s why we’re sixth (other than playing shite of course!).

You’d think then why throw Naby and Shaq in (a combined three league goals in 15 months) but why the hell not? We have to change something and Keita might give us that drive further up the field that Bobby hasn’t been doing and Shaq for that quality pass in the final third (something that has been alien to us recently) and also for his dead ball attributes (other than Trent who, for me, is overrated in the free kick dept.).

On Sunday I expect to see (wouldn’t surprise if I didn’t) a change in formation & 2-3 changes in the starting XI.

No doubt Sheff U will give us a game and cause problems as they did with their win at Old Trafford, their narrow defeats away at City and at home to Chelsea but they haven’t scored in the league since that win over West Brom at the beginning of the month (own goal v Chelsea).

Players like Billy Sharp, McGoldrick and Norwood will create issues for us but I expect a response and we will see one.

    2-0 for us.

We gotta take 3 points here to stop the rot.
We also have Chelsea later in the week where we could drop points so even more important we take full points here. And on top of that City play West Ham and Utd play Chelsea so if our 4th place rivals drop points we need the 3 points to gain ground.

My team as mentioned on the other thread is…
    Allison
    TAA, Philips, Davies, Robbo
    Thiago, Gini
    Shaq, Firmino, Mané
    Salah

    Subs…
    Kelleher
    Fabinho/Gini
    Ox
    Kabak
    Kieta
    Tsimikas
    Milner??

If Fabinho is ready he comes in for Gini.
If Firmino isn’t cutting it by halftime he’s off for Kieta/Ox.

I fully expect Sheff Utd to sit back to try to frustrate us, hitting us on the break or with a set piece. This is why we have Fabinho/Gini and Thiago there. I want to see us being horrible cunts. If there’s a break on take their man out. If there’s a dodgy tackle get in around the ref. Penalty shout…get all over the ref.
I wanna see fight and I wanna see intensity.

My fear is that we have all our leaders missing…Hendo, Milner, VVD etc.
Others need to step up and grab this by the throat.

Agree Ginger especially the ‘horrible c’s’ bit!

Just want to see us roll our sleeves up and go at them and act like current champions instead of the pussyfooting, passive spares like we have been recently.

Couldn’t believe we were so placid against the blue shite especially after what they done in the first game.

Time to get the backs up and get angry.
Get a good lead, subs early, and get outta there.
    First goal is vital!

Fabhino is going to start at C&b once he is fit. I just can’t see him pasting in midfield which really pisses me off

I’ve no problem with either team mentioned above as it’s something different and just give Davis a go.

It’s a big pitch which will suit but we have to be up for a real battle

I dunno if Klopp will change it up that much.

The good thing is that Jota is nearly back. At best he’ll maybe make the bench but I mean, do you want to put a player on the bench after only a few days of full training? I’d leave him off til the next match personally.

If I could influence Klopp, I’d ask him to go with your team there Rob. Firmino is just not good enough to start for us anymore and until that changes and we’ve got other players fit, he’s got to learn that he needs to work harder in training, or whatever it takes to get him back to some level of form because he’s so far below the standard now… but I assure you, Klopp will start him.

I am still looking forward to this match but I am even more looking forward to the one where Jota comes back into the starting line-up.

I think we’ve got to look forward to the summer though, with FSG buying us a top forward.

Jota back in full training today.
Hopefully see him on the bench this Sunday and maybe a start for him v Chelsea.

Let’s just hope Jota gets back now with no further problems. If he is fully fit for Chelsea that’ll be an absolutely massive boost just when we need it.

I’m less concerned about Fabinho, of course as long as it’s only a slight hiccup.

Obviously there are things that are more important than football and this is certainly one but regarding the match on Sunday it remains to be seen if Alisson will be available to play.

Threeps, I think it’s got to be up to the player. Some would want time off to be alone, or with their families. Others would cherish the distraction, the time away from their thoughts. It’s got to respected whatever the man wants.

My guess is he will want to be with his family, as I think most are wired this way.

57 may seem old to a teenager, but it’s too damn young to be dying.

If we are to get Top 4 this season, we have to win this game, even a draw will not suffice as time is running out.

I expect a few changes as Keita and Jota have been in training, and both could play some part in this match, even the formation might change, though it’s most likely to be 433. And finally, at long last, we’ll get to play actual CBs in defence, hope they’re up to the job, so that we never see a midfielder play there again – I’d start with Kabak and Phillips

Klopp confirms Fabinho and Milner don’t return to full training until tomorrow so I doubt they’ll be involved on Sunday.

After Klopps presser now I think I’m still sticking with my team for Sunday…

    Allison/Kelleher
    TAA, Philips, Davies, Robbo
    Thiago, Gini
    Mane, Firmino, Shaq
    Salah

I guess it’s up to Allison what he wants to do.
Looking like Klopps hand is gonna be forced with the centreback situation…there’s gonna be no Hendo/Fabinho available.
Having Jota on the bench will be great to see. In fact it should be quite a strong bench….
Kelleher, Kabak, Kieta, Ox, Jota, Tsimikas, Origi, Jones

Won’t be far off that Ginger. You just know Wilder will stick Jagielka in front of the back four and try and lock up shop for 90 mins. I want big performances from our attacking unit tomorrow (bar Mo who’s been doing the biz).

Let’s get stuck in and get three bastard points. Kin ‘ell.
