Can I venture that this time around it will be an interesting transfer window? From the point of view that we don’t have anyone that someone would desperately want and by the looks of things we might have a mad splurge as we did in the Summer and bring in another boat load of untested bargain basement players to add to the deadwood pile, retain all of the misfits that can’t and should not ever get a game in our first team and keep fingers crossed that we land a bit of wheat in all of the chaff.

We certainly do the best business in getting the worst Italian defenders, Brazilian midfielders that can’t pass, French strikers that would not know the back of the net if it hit them on the backside, Dutchmen who have no idea of forward, back or total and loanees that are scraped from the bottom of the barrel.

My only wish is that we bring in quality not quantity but what do
    I know?

Well, if it was a case of Stick or Twist I guess we can go with the former. We did a bit of business in buying some likely lads that will feature for the Academy, a midfielder and a left back. So, we didn’t go mad to have a punt to try to make the Play-Offs. Perhaps there is an acceptance that we are too far behind what is needed to get there?

The interesting point for me is that the philosophy of the Academy is changing it seems. Rather than grow our own the idea seems to be that we will take a chance on youngsters that are showing promise with the hope that they will flower and make the First Team or at least bring in a decent return on our investment.

It was interesting that the team sheet for the game against Hull City included for a couple of youngsters. Whether this was by design or because there was no other choice because of suspensions I don’t know but we might as well let them dip their toe in and see how that works out. Just needs the erstwhile Head Coach to see the deadwood before his eyes.

For the performance against Hull City where we were yet again second best what can you say other than Same old, Same old? There is nothing more to be said.

One more point and I will not think about “R” this season! We should be thankful for small mercies.

    Keep the Faith. WAL
