Nothing more to say about that deal, we might as well have given him away!!! Its terrible. Leno is an excellent Keeper. I Can not see why there would be no other alternative interest? I just cant see why no one fancied him? Surely it cant just be he wants to stay in London thing ?
The sensible and thing that makes most financial sense was to not buy another keeper and keep him until we got a decent offer. If that did not happen keep him as No2 then buy another keeper next year and let him go for free. I am sorry Matt Turner does not look like an opportunity to good to miss, I am sure we could have got him next year. Unless any of this is wrong then Edu needs to have a much better strategy for sales as this is a prime example where we should do better.
As much as I applaud the club for spending money up front and not making us wait for sales, this is the one position they should have applied that to.

Yeah this Leno deal stinks. I guess that the plan for Edu is get rid of as many squad players as possible to make room for two more signings. Who knows maybe the owners have actually said get rid or else? Anyone on the payroll who is not part of the squad at a certain age has to go – otherwise it’s the bullet for you?!
I doubt it as that would suggest a plan so I thinks it’s just Edu being shit at selling players.
    STILL WELL EXCITED ABOUT FRIDAY!!

I don’t think people have quite understood Arsenal’s transfer model yet.
When you Overpay for players and keep them on excessive wages,it makes it that much more difficult to get rid of them.Because no club would be willing to pay what he was never worth.
This has been happening to over 90% of our players. When we’re desperate to get rid of them,it’s because we want to free up their wages which is why we end up selling them for peanuts.

You cannot justify spending 45m on a player with one year reamining on his contract and then sell your own player who you invested 20m in for about 3m+addons.
You cannot justify spending 25m on torreira and getting just 5m for him.
You cannot justify spending 32m on zinchenko. He’s a good player but he’s not worth more than 15-18m.He’s hardly of any value to city which is why they were happy to get rid.
What is this club thinking,In 3-4 years we sell him for 50-60?
Come out of cuckooland,we will get peanuts for him.

The season is starting in two days, unlike many fans I’m not as excited.I think our fans are living in a bubble. It’s going to burst this season. But again,I’m not really sure if they genuinely believe what they let out.

Our squad is light, unless we get 2-3 new players in,we have no chance of top 4.

As I said Bellerin is next on Edus list of give aways. Im quite surprised that this level of deals are acceptable to Kroenke. I mean If they are that to me means two things. First they are acting as a bank and the club needs to pay back the investments the club does on new players, so they are not loosing any money. Secondly since they do get their money back it means they do not care how the club does it. That means Edu can do whatever he wants in getting players out which means that he will accept just about anything to get players out. I think we will see at least 3 players more going this route, Bellerin, Torreira and possible Pepe. Add to that some loans like Mari and more. The problem is the club will need money in and If its not through sales it will be through the fans.

Cautiosly looking forward to Friday though.

Muff the third option is they are spending there own money? As we have said they own the club 100% so any money borrowed by bank or if refinanced its there own money and may never get it back unless they sell. Surely This will only be an issue for the club if they become bankrupt themselves and then they can’t sell the club. I don’t see either happening so maybe we should all stop being accountants and worrying about balancing the books. Then we can focus on Friday which I am really looking forward to.

Kroenke spending their own money haha good one I said they are loaning them to the club and then the club has to pay it back to the Kroenke. Which is fine but at some point they will need to get the money back to them. Since Edu cant sell the money will come from tickets or from other commercial deals. Do you want to pay even higher ticket prices to watch the games? If so I understand your view.

At some point the spending will stop If they are not prepared to push more money in because the club is wasteful with the money. So far though they seem fine by loosing 100m so whats another 100m which Edu is soon going to hit. Please dont go and complain then when money is dried up.

stev – Where you and many other fans are wrong in praising the kronkes is you think they’ve done their job in making the money available. You’re right none of us know whether it’s their own money or just that they’re loaning it to the club.Judging by their history it would seem they are investing the money for now and expect it to be paid back which is a distinct possibility.I’ll tell you why.

Firstly, the amount of money we’ve spent,we’ve massively overpaid on players.Hence,it is that much more difficult to get rid of them.So they were never really assets, when you’ve made a loss on them.
By this season,we would have spent more than 300m.

The only way to justify this kind of spending is it has to be correspondent to the results. And the results at the least should be a top 4 place this season.I emphasize,at the least. And I use the example of Liverpool again,Look at how much they spent,at what barrier was their success achieved. It is much much much better than ours.

So in short,it’s not just they have to make money available. It’s about appointing the right personel to run the club.If we don’t make top 4,all this “trust the process” nonsense would surely be deemed as a failure correct?

If you see the kind of sales we’ve made on our assets.25m on torreiera and getting 20% of that?Leno for 20m and getting 3m upfront?Guendozi for a mere 8m?These are all nonsensical transactions that can never be justified in any galaxy. The other investments are not even worth mentioning as we’ve gotten nothing for them Like auba and lacazette.

I know you try to remain positive, but it’s better to accept the reality of the situation rather than turn a blind eye.
There is a glaring problem at the club and it’s not in the form of Arteta.
It hasn’t been fixed this season, and I’m afraid that hasn’t even been realised by the owners it might never be.
