First time after 34 matches???
May 9, 2021 at 10:59 am #1951434Yes 1st time in 34 matches in the league.
May 9, 2021 at 11:04 am #1951435The problem was not the defence but the attack and the front 3!!
This means that changes must be done!!May 9, 2021 at 1:00 pm #1951455Leicester have Man Utd, Chelsea and Spurs as their last 3 games. Top 4 is still perfectly doable
May 9, 2021 at 4:40 pm #1951569razor I´m not saying he is worth 20-30 million, I´m saying the lot here would be begging to buy him for 20-30 million if he was playing for another club, the ones that want him sold…
May 9, 2021 at 8:35 pm #1951668Can’t speak for the others but I know I wouldn’t. Like I said I won’t go on too much about it but I haven’t been a fan since that Lincoln game for various reasons. Mostly I think it was his resemblance to VVD in terms of his physical appearance that led to the widespread assumption that he was the same kind of player. He isn’t. VVD is a Rolls’ Royce, Williams is a Geely GE.
May 9, 2021 at 8:44 pm #1951670Of course he has his short comings, he is 20 year old and just stopped growing… he is miles behind the level we are used to be he is also miles ahead of anyone else in the same age category…
Stating that a prospect like that should be sold is dumb as fuck!
May 9, 2021 at 9:08 pm #1951684No he isn’t. I don’t know who you think he’s miles ahead of and TBH I don’t really care. Bournemouth can have him for the 20-30mil you’re going on about. If he can’t displace Fabinho, Phillips and Kabak, and he rightfully shouldn’t, he’s not going to displace VVD, Gomez and Matip nor will he displace a potential 35mil signing in Konate.
Kabak is in the same age group and is clearly a far superior player and that’s just 1 player in the same team. Players like Upamecano and Konate are also in the same age group just to name a couple. Fofana is another one. We have a good 6 players ahead of him in the pecking order when all are fit and with good reason. Maybe you should take off the rose tinted lenses.
May 10, 2021 at 2:22 am #1951712“I think Kopite mentioned a few weeks ago that 5th place wouldn’t be afforded a CL place. I assumed it would be the case but apparently not.”
4th will definitely qualify for the CL now. You would need to have both the Europa League and CL winners to fail to finish in the top 4. Now that Arsenal are out of the Europa League, with Utd definitely finishing in the top 4 and Chelsea looking very likely also…
May 10, 2021 at 3:24 pm #1951877Upemecano is born in 99, Konate is born in 99, they are all players that had their debut a couple of seasons ago and they are older and more experienced… Every player you mention is further down the production line than Williams who is in his debut season and actually having a cracking debut season…
The only thing Williams has to do to get to their level is work on his strength and considering he is at least two years behind every player you mentioned I would give him some time as he is one excellent prospect… A prospect that could become better than any of the players you mentioned
May 10, 2021 at 4:04 pm #1951886Williams is far to slow. It will never work with how high we play
May 10, 2021 at 4:58 pm #1951894Agree Sean.
Similar with Philips.
They much more suited to traditional centre backs roles rather than the high line and press we play.
Still think we should loan Williams out for a season and see where he goes from there. Should also help his value if we come to sell. We now have several home grown centre backs which may come in useful for either our quota or selling on.May 10, 2021 at 5:13 pm #1951896May 10, 2021 at 6:14 pm #1951913Lol. Williams is not having a “cracking debut season”. He’s been rightly dropped after being hopelessly exposed and will be dropped again when other players become available. He can’t displace any of the players ahead of him when he was afforded the chance first. Nat was treated like he was going to leave the club since the start of the season, first by not even being registered for the CL, of which we had a spot available and then in January when he wasn’t played under the assumption that he would be leaving. We would arguably been in a better situation right now if he wasn’t alienated like this. Now Klopp trusts him enough to play Fab in midfield and even took off Kabak ahead of him in a few games. Why doesn’t Williams have this same trust? Because Klopp doesn’t see anything there that suggests that he’s some world beater. I can also name several other players in that age group who are already playing top level football so I still don’t know who you’re comparing him to when you talk about players in his age group. Those were just the ones off the top of my head.
May 11, 2021 at 12:02 pm #1952111We should offer Carra the chance to fill in against Utd, he’s rubbish at his current job anyway.
May 11, 2021 at 12:11 pm #1952114MrM: We won’t get CL by finishing 5th.
May 12, 2021 at 11:03 am #1952438Ya, with Leicester beating Utd, it does seem like 5th is our best bet 🙁
As I think it was razor who said it though, finish the season with some momentum, to carry into next season.
