Behemoth, you didn’t notice Lovren pulling back Pelle after he beat him for pace, in the penalty area no less. You’re very selective in your criticism.

It’s not as simple as just blaming one player, and getting rid of him then everything will be rosy.

Having seen the highlights, I think Southampton scored 3 very good goals. It was only earlier on in the build-up (having an extra man in midfield would have helped there) that we could have stopped those goals.

Songman, probably would have done, and we needed to be able to be prepared to interchange a running formation

If we wanted to remain with a 4-4-2, then the subs have to be spot on – considering Allen was run ragged.

I’ve never had to criticise JK, but I felt he made his own blooper here.

Finally emerging from the shell-shocked state since Sunday and I remembered that this was not the first time this has happened against Southampton. Does anyone remember the game at the Dell in August 2000? It was a good old-fashioned Saturday 3:00 game but I had to get to the supermarket for beers and barbecue shopping whilst it was on – this was back in the days when I could only follow the score updates on BBC 5Live. I sat listening in the car in Sainsbury’s carpark and we went 3::0 up on 65 mins, so thought “3 points in the bag, safe to vacate the radio and get the shopping done”. Got back in the car just in time for the 5:00 classified check wondering whether final score would be 4 or 5 :: nil and nearly choked when a 3::3 score was read out. In fact, with James Alexander Gordon on the mike, you didn’t even have to hear the score, his intonation of “Southampton” was enough to know that the points had been shared.

I thought that was a memorable match for the wrong reasons. A certain Djimi Traore was playing. Was hanging out at a buddy’s place and we were cursing like hell.
