Ok Guys, so here are my thoughts on the sudden burst of activity in the transfer market.
I think that this will be Zaha’s last season with us, he didn’t sign the extension, so i think this spending spree is based on us recouping the money next summer with the sale of Zaha.. it’s inevitable, unless we spring a surprise and get a european cup spot next year.
The Max Meyer deal at 170k a week seems impossible but he is a free transfer and he’s worth 20mil plus easy.. also he will have a resell value so it’s a great investement.Almost a no brainer really.
If we can get a few of the targets over the line that we appear to be looking to sign, I think we will have a really awesome squad capable of having a fantastic season and quite frightening on the counter….
Here’s hoping it’s a great window and a great seaason…August 3, 2018 at 10:10 am #1661381
Sorry Jabbs cant agree at all. If Meyer is going to get 170k a week then thats it for Zaha .. and me. What an absolute joke!! Zaha is a proven class act and is the reason why we are still in the premiership.. no argument. If we are willing to pay someone without premiership experience or even a club , 170k a week then why should he stay!! Parrish has lost the plot completely and the club will get what it deserves. I said when we bought that useless CF Benteke that is was the beginning of the end ( 120k a week for what!!) Palace were a club of fighters with passion and determination, not a club of primma donnas getting overpaid week in week out whatever their performance. Sorry but its time after 40 years to find another club to go and support.. this is a sad day for me !!!!!August 3, 2018 at 10:19 am #1661387
I think Zaha may be leaving in this window, I hope not but I feel it may happen. If he does I hope it is not on deadline day as it would be good to reinvest the vast transfer fee into the squad and a late transfer limits our chances of this. With regards to Max Meyer….don’t believe everything you read. He is not earning 170k a week. It is more in the 80-90k bracket and with the quality of player he is that is really a no brainer and a massive injection of quality into the squad. If we could get deals for Ayew and Ings over the line our team would be vastly improved on last season. The only question then would be if Zaha does leave who do we bring in to replace him with as he is so difficult to replace. Jeano your comments really get me down which is why I try to stay off this board. For 1 no real Palace fan would put bets on his teams relegation every season and 2 no matter how the club is run etc a real fan sticks through them through thick and thin, looking for a new club to support? Fine see ya later thenAugust 3, 2018 at 2:16 pm #1661474
Jeano – I don’t want Zaha to leave, but let’s be brutally honest, every season he say’s is a blessing for us as we know he is destined for bigger and better things. Max Mayer, whatever he gets paid is a no brainer… he’s on a free.. if we sell in 2 years for an average fee then he will cancel out what he’s been paid… so it’s highly unlikely that over his time he will have actually cost a penny… not a bad bit of business in my mind.
The wages that players get paid is a direct reflection of the market.. look at that half average striker from Watford heading to Everton for 40-50mil… it’s all relative when you look at the income.. The days of Damien Delaney, cheap and all effort are now behind us, they have to be if we want to stay in the prem… Every season teams are adding more and more quality, stay behind and suddenly your a championship team bringing in a rag tag of cast off’s desperate to get back to where we already are… If this Bus is heading in the wrong direction, there is always Burton Albion for you.
Eagles1979 if Zaha was going to be sold it would have been done by now, allowing us time to acquire quality replacements… I reckon we have this season and if we are not in Europe then he will be off to hunt for silverware because he’s that good and I will miss him but wish him well…August 3, 2018 at 5:53 pm #1661536
As you might remember som months ago I to found an awful lot of pesimism vented on this site. Even now that most rival fans think we have made fantastic signings som CP fans are negative. I completely follow you Palace1979! Ja biter, your analysis are well founded and I enjoy your posts.
Lets have a fantastic season and support whoever put on the red and ble strip.August 4, 2018 at 11:00 am #1661684
Hi guys (edited version)
As you might remember some months ago I too found an awful lot of pesimism vented on this site and therfore did not vist it that often. Even now that most rival fans think we have made fantastic signings som CP fans focus on the negatives. I completely follow you Eagles1979! Jabbiter, your analysis are well founded and I enjoy your posts.

Yes Jabbs agree about Wilf’s last year with us. He will want to leave us on a high and it looks like with the new signings and no real losses we could be heading for our best season since Pardew’s first one with us. Wilf will be missed but we need to stand up without him. Can’t wait for the Fulham game as this will hopefully be the springboard of things to come.August 6, 2018 at 2:12 pm #1662288
Three things. I think that Zaha will stay, the VAR will help him and lastly we are going to have a fantastic season and surprise the pundits. Looking for 6th place. On the Holmsdale football forecast I have put in 0-3 and even played my joker. Palace fan for 70+ years. What do I know. Nah this it lads we are in for a cracker.August 7, 2018 at 11:28 am #1662569
It looks like Loftus is coming back for another year. Palace player on Sky said it was great to have him again. Things are looking like a frightening attacking squad with stability at the back and midfield. Time for Jabbsto hang his boots up.August 7, 2018 at 10:20 pm #1662826
Perth… Yes, we need to build a team long term and unless we get into Europe that team will be without Wilf.
Punch – I really hope that’s true, because if it is, I think we will surprise a lot of teams, the midfield with him and the two new players will be really strong, we have a strong defense, perhaps another winger and striker and we could have ourselves a very exciting season…
Norwegian Eagle… stick with us….
Jeano1… Get on the positive bandwagon and enjoy the ride..August 8, 2018 at 10:10 am #1662957
