Thought I’d start a thread (boredom mostly) on possible forecasts for this summer – ins/outs and shake it all abouts:
Likely Outs
Lallana
Shaqiri
Adrian
Lovren
ClynePossible Outs
Wijnaldum
KeitaLikely Positions Filled/Targets
Left and Right Back? Larouci coming along nicely and Milner can fill in there but will Klopp want a good, natural back up for Robbo and also for Trent (Clyne will be moved on)?
Forward – Werner. Think Klopp will definitely buy a forward especially with the likelihood of losing Mane and Salah to the ACN during peak Winter season. That could affect our dynamics and season targets considerably and he’ll want someone in early to ‘learn the Liverpool Way.’ I’ve been an advocate of signing a true number 9 anyhow for a while. I know it’s not how play but it’s essential for formation and tactical changes over 60 games.
Goalkeeper – with Adrian possibly moving on we will need an experienced back-up (Joe Hart?). He’s not Allison but he could fill in like Adrian did.
Centre Half? If we sell Lovren will we go for a new, experienced CB especially with Matip’s injury record? The young lads not ready yet. Phillips recall?
Midfielder? If we lose Shaq and/or Lallana or both (likely) that leaves us short. Naby is injury prone and the club could cash in on him whilst he’s still young and stock relatively high. Milner’s cracking on and if we do sell a mid then I think we may venture into this market. This is not considering if we sell Gini too (I think unlikely tho). Jones and Elliott also progressing nicely.
All of the above does not include brining any loaners back (Grujic, Wilson etc). I think we will recall one or two and flog the rest (Karius first on the list!).
I am sure I’ve missed one or two but would welcome your thoughts and ideas.
February 8, 2020 at 6:53 pm #1825148I don’t see Gini or Kieta going unless they force their way out.
I’m now starting to think we won’t buy any back up fullbacks either. We’ll stick with Williams, Larouci and Lewis.
Rumours that Adrian will move back to Spain, possibly Betis to become first choice. Not sure if Kelleher is ready to be first choice back up yet do might have to do something there.I think we’ll go for a centreback, rumours are a youngish English centreback. There were also the mentions of that centreback playing in Spain. Was he Argentinian? Name escapes me.
I can see us going for Werner a
or another forward. I don’t see us buying many first teamers but we’ve spent less the £20mil in 3 windows while recouping plenty. Plus there’s the xtra money coming in from winning comps.
It’s very hard to find the players to improve this team. It’s not like championship manager, they have to be the right “fit” not just a quality player.February 8, 2020 at 7:00 pm #1825149Just bring in Mbappe and we’ll be happy.
Highly unlikely to happen though, so possibly Werner instead
February 8, 2020 at 7:24 pm #1825154If Mbappe moves. We could quite well be his destination. Nike would certainly pressure him in that direction given our new deal with them. It’s his wages that would be the true sticking point.
As said above, players that actually improve us are going to be either a rare gem, or have a huge fee. A back up fullback would be great, and a keeper and centre half. If we don’t lose anyone in the middle, I would say we are good there for another season. Keita still owes us a gear or two.February 8, 2020 at 9:58 pm #1825156Salah and mane be gone in jan for a bit so the rumour is we are in for Werner???
Would Werner come to play 2nd fiddle for a good billy of the season though? Can he play out wide?
Adrian has been great I have to say. Be a season to remember for him as he’s played a lot more then he would have thought
He’s to good to be a number two.
February 8, 2020 at 10:00 pm #1825157Keith’s problem is he can’t stay fit. I really like him. He gets a run of 5/6 games and looks really good then gets injured. It’s a huge pity as he gives us something different in midfield with regards goals and creativity
Winji needs a new contract.
February 9, 2020 at 2:52 am #18251591) Top quality forward who can put away the chances we don’t take and to cover what we already have.
2) LB cover. (RB looks like it will sort itself out with Williams)
3) CB to replace Lovren.
February 9, 2020 at 5:01 am #1825161I prefer Adrian…HART pass his best and error prone. We should try our best to keep Adrian, in such a short time he has won us the SUPER CUP. I rate him highly.
February 9, 2020 at 9:31 am #1825177Adrian is living the life at Liverpool, playing a decent amount of games and winning the biggest trophies that most players can only dream of.
Can’t see him going elsewhere for a while
February 9, 2020 at 10:17 am #1825183Adrian is 33 and his boyhood club wants him apparently.
If he wants first team football, which is a distinct possibility st his age, then this move could make sense for him.
The only reason he got so many games this year is because Allison had that injury at the start of the season. Adrian isn’t stupid, he knows how rare it is for keepers to get injured. Chances of him getting that many league games again are very slim. He didn’t even get to play in all the domestic cup comps. Not saying it’s defo gonna happen, but wouldn’t be surprised if it did.
He’ll walk away with a great experience and a pocket full of medals.
Personally I’d like him to stay. He’s the best no2 I ever remember us having and can play the style we want.February 9, 2020 at 12:13 pm #1825200He should stay for another year at least, he would play in all the FA and League cup games, and maybe even a few CL or PL games.
Anyway, only Adrian himself knows what matters most to him
February 9, 2020 at 12:54 pm #1825214I agree with ginger. He wants to be playing. He’s too good to be a number two and I’d love him to stay but will be suprised if he does
February 9, 2020 at 1:24 pm #1825220We have the best #1 and #2 in the league. It’s remarkable considering that not long ago, we had 2 of the worst. The thing that I like most about Adrian is how he’s improved tremendously over the course of the season which a lot of players stop doing at that stage in their careers. Some don’t even bother and then whine incessantly when they can’t displace a world class keeper and then keep whining when they’re shipped out to a club more their speed when literally no one else wanted them. While I can see Adrian leaving for regular football, he doesn’t have a lot of career left to rack up the medals either so the argument could be made that he’d want to stay with us a bit longer at least.
February 9, 2020 at 2:11 pm #1825236Let’s hope that’s the case Razor.
I’d really want him to stay. Can’t anyone remember the name of the centreback playing in Spain we were linked with?
Costing about £50/60mil?February 9, 2020 at 2:14 pm #1825237Remembered…..Diego Carlos from Sevilla.
I’m not sure we’ll spend that kinda money on a centreback. The only possibility that we might do that is if they still have doubts over Gomez fitness/injuries. Certainly won’t be over his ability.February 9, 2020 at 2:40 pm #1825246It’s not impossible we bring in mbappe but the reality is if we do then it means we’ve lost Mane or Salah, I for one would be much happier to keep what we’ve got. Cant see anyone taking over the Firmino role, he’s a one of a kind type of forward. So any forward that comes in will be very aware that hes starting from a position of 4th choice
February 9, 2020 at 5:04 pm #1825279I do not want Adrian to leave but we can not keep him despite his will.
Henderson from blades is a very good and young GK but I do noy know if he wants to be No 2 in Liverpool.
Werner and Pellegrini are my favorites players.
Harvetz and Sancho cost a lot!!February 9, 2020 at 5:18 pm #1825282There are CBs good and cheaper than Diego Carlos.
We need 4 good CBs and since Lovren will leave in summer.February 9, 2020 at 6:00 pm #1825287Henderson is indeed a good young goalkeeper. However, he’s only on loan at Sheffield United. He is a ManU player. We don’t do business with them, as I’m sure you know.
February 9, 2020 at 6:17 pm #1825292Henderson is a bang average, overhyped goalkeeper, just like Pickford. He’s only been made to look good by the level of shielding provided to him by the defensive unit in front of him. If he went back to United now, he’d be a huge downgrade on the off form De Gea. Sheffield’s distinct lack of quality will catch up with them next season once they’ve been figured out. I for one don’t believe the hype.
