Red I like Grealish too, I still kinda hope he stays at Villa, they could really build a team around him. They got some money behind them and potential as a franchise but if he leaves Villa I would love him at Anfield. He could take a year to settle but over time he would be excellent, he got everything going for him and I think he could be a crowd fav at Anfield.February 26, 2020 at 7:52 am #1829811
If there is a release clause of 45 mil for Grealish then it is a good price. We need a creative midefielder and Grealish is much cheaper than Maddison…
I would like to see Pellegrini coming to Anfield since Hendo and Gini are almost 30 and Milner 30++. He is a box to box player something we miss.February 26, 2020 at 8:33 am #1829820
Curtis Jones needs to be in the 1st team squad next season the boy is way too good for the level he is currently playing at.February 26, 2020 at 9:30 am #1829830
“He is a box to box player something we miss”
Yeah coz we don’t have any of them.

Do we have??? who?? SG???February 26, 2020 at 10:10 pm #1830119
I reckon Bobby will drop down into midfield next season, half the time he is dropping down there anyways so why not make the move permanent, especially if we indeed do get Werner. Who got the pace and workrate to be our frontman…February 27, 2020 at 10:48 am #1830210
If we brought in Werner we could easily utilise the 4-2-3-1 formation much more particularly at home against those teams we completely dominate.
So we could easily line up up front with Salah, Firmino, Mane behind Werner.
Keep in mind next season also that Mane and Salah will be away to Afcon for several weeks at the start of 2021 plus there’s the possibility of Salah missing the start of the season due to the Olympics. So this provides plenty of opportunity for Werner to get games without having to offload any of our current front 3.
It’s also interesting that we could probably offset the cost of Werner with the sales of Origi and Shaq. That still frees up more money for investment.
That would mean Werner and Minamino in with Shaq and Origi out for very little outlay. A significant upgrade in the squad.February 27, 2020 at 11:16 am #1830215
With the rumours going around that we are looking to bring in 2 forwards and with Wijnaldum’s contract situation yet to be resolved, it might well be the case that Firmino may drop into the midfield 3.February 27, 2020 at 1:44 pm #1830254
I don’t see Wijnaldum going anywhere.February 27, 2020 at 3:14 pm #1830279
Razor I think Klopp would love to drop Bobby down into midfield, he got all the attributes for it and I dare say that Werner is faster than Bobby so in theory he should get into the box more often on the counter and like you say we could utilise the 4231 more often.
I don’t think we will see more than one forward coming in but all that depends on us keeping the front three at the club for another season.
Same goes for the midfield, I doubt we will go out and buy more than one midfielder, its more likely that Grujic will come back into the team than we will buy another central midfielder.
And for the defense, we will get a backup for Robertson, other than that we only need to buy if we sell.
We are still talking about a investment of 100-120 million, which would be our profit for last season…March 2, 2020 at 12:06 pm #1831436
Even though its only one league defeat, I’m sure that Klopp and Edwards are working on plans to improve the team.
With the likes of Clyne, Lallana, Shaqiri and maybe more departing, that should free up some funds to bring in one or more top players who are hungry and can compete for places in the starting lineup, preferably in midfield and attack.
Basically evey top squad needs improving and refreshing, to keep winning consistently.
As for Minamino, we might see the best of him next season, but he needs to break his scoring duck soon, hopefully tomorrowMarch 6, 2020 at 5:30 pm #1832760
I would like to see both Werner and Jimenez in summer. Shaq, Origi can go and Firmino can play like Coutinhio as no 10. Jimenez will give us great strength in the box (eomething we miis and an altenative way of play), Werner can play at wings as Minamino and Wilson who must take a chance from Klopp.
Lovren, Lallana can leave and 2 players to rpealce them. I do not see that Grujic can but Klopp will decide.March 7, 2020 at 2:38 pm #1832947
Time to start planning for next season, and strengthen the team in one or two areas.
The more I see Firmino struggle at Anfield, the more likely I can see Werner (or a similar attacker) at Liverpool next seasonMarch 8, 2020 at 5:20 pm #1833263
De Bryne is 50% or more of City. I wish we could have him is summer…March 8, 2020 at 5:46 pm #1833279
We definitely need more in the midfield. Never rated Fabinho I’m afraid, even when he was earning plaudits earlier in the season. Milner has been very handy indeed, but is getting on. We’ve obviously missed Henderson from a galvanising point of view, but we ideally need a couple of Kante type players – fast, nimble, but strong, good passer, good tackler, etc.March 8, 2020 at 5:51 pm #1833281
Keita has lot of injuries as well.March 11, 2020 at 11:03 pm #1834363
There’s one trophy that we Liverpool fans wanted above all else, and that’s the Premier League, and we waited 30 long years for it.
Who can forget the agony of missing out right at the end in 2014, or letting a 7 point lead slip away last season?
No mistakes this time, we are going to be the league champions this season, and it feels so good.
Only one thing left this season, and that’s to start intensive work on strengthening the team so that we can win both the league and CL again as soon as possible. And we must not be complacent, there are many areas we have to improve on if we are to win these two big trophies againMarch 11, 2020 at 11:30 pm #1834377
Disagree that Adrian should be sold because of this performance like some were suggesting in the other thread. He’s been a decent #2 although his performances have been riddled with schoolboy errors like this. He still has my respect because of the improvement he’s shown since he came in. That said, I’d rather see us bring in and start developing the next Alisson for the next 4-5 years. If his mind is still in the right place, Adrian should stick around as a solid back-up instead of Lonergan or Kelleher.
Agree that we can’t rest on our laurels though. There’s a lot this squad can improve on. Having watched the Leipzig/Spuds game, Upamecano looked like a real beast and IMO is the ideal partner to VVD. Not sure if the Werner thing is going to happen as we tend not to drag out these things and this kind of looks dead in the water. Still need a proper finisher though and a back-up LB.March 12, 2020 at 6:58 pm #1834662
So basically our season could be wrapped up in 9 days time when we play Palace next Sat evening.
I can’t help looking towards the summer and what business we’ll be doing.
For the last 3 windows we’ve spent approx £20mil overall, bringing in more than that. Add in our CL runs/success and winning the title, Super Cup and Club World Cup our coffers should be looking quite healthy.
There are certain players that look likely or very likely to leave…
Plus other youngsters
With the help of Michael Edwards magic we should be able to bring in quite a bit of money from them.
Who we bring in will be the interesting part.
Werner? Seems to tick a lot of boxes. His cost could be offset from the sales of Shaq and Origi.
If Lovren goes we’ll need a replacement but we also know how much Klopp loves to promote from within.
An attacking midfielder will be on the cards IMO. Large question marks hang over Kieta and his future and with Lallana gone there’s a need. Todd Cantwell has been interesting the club I’m led to believe.
Another attacker is needed IMO, on top of Werner. I can see us going for someone who may not necessarily be on the radars, someone young up and coming. Unfortunately not Sancho as much as I would like it too happen.
Not sure what they’ll do with the backup left back slot. I’m aware they have been looking at options outside the club last summer but so far have stuck with what we have within the club.
There was also the rumour of Betis interested in Adrian. At his age, after winning the league this year, he may want to go back to his boyhood club for regular first team football. Again it’s a situation of do we buy or promote from within.
Doesn’t look like it’s gonna be a busy summer with major incomings but I definitely believe we need to freshen up the squad and add greater depth, particularly to the front line.March 12, 2020 at 7:44 pm #1834697
