Given we’ve chased Sterling since the start of the window he could hardly be a panic buy. I think a goal or an assist in circa 70% of his appearances at City tells its own story re his ability.

With Sterling almost sure, we now have another problem. It is rumoured that we may let our captain Azpi (eventhough he modeled for the new home shirt and looked really happy in the video) and Marcos Alonso leave to Barcelona.

Boehly was spotted at Barcelona airport:
    https://www.barcablaugranes.com/fc-barcelona-transfer-rumors-news/2022/7/7/23198856/chelsea-owner-todd-boehly-spotted-in-barcelona-for-transfer-talks

Probably he would try to include Dest or de Jong in the deal? Alonso can leave as we have Chilwell back, but I do hope that our captain stays. We need him. But again, if his heart isn’t at Chelsea, is somewhere else, it’s better that he leaves.

I just read that Luis Suarez is still available for free? He is a goalscorer !

I would hate to see either Saurez or Ronaldo in a Chelsea team or even in a jersey. 2 Despicable narcissistic individuals. I don’t even think we need too many new signings, we have Sterling who has to compete with 6 other top players for a forward role, hope he pays off, probably 1 forward at least will leave. There’s have enough depth in central midfielders, we only need now 2 defenders and that should do it even if Alonso and Azpliquetea leave. There’s young players coming through. It’s just a case of doing the business on the field and that’s where management comes in.

Lucky,100% agree with you on Suarez.

Ive seen no rumours on that one which hopefully means it’s nonsense.

I hope we keep Broja, and hope he is not foolish enough to go to Moyes at West Ham. Doing so would be like committing himself to a prison sentence. He only needs to look at how Moyes has treated Declan Rice. Anyone with true ambition surely would not consider such a move. If he stays with us, I am sure he will get the opportunity with All the games we play and 5 subs

Luckydestiny no I am not. I don’t forget the incident between Suarez & Ivanovic. It was disgusting. But stranger things had happened. Benitez as our coach for example. And may be a player like Suarez (rough, wild) is just what we need. Look at Diego Costa, he is no angel. And he did not want to adapt to Premier League, he did not learn English. But he did the job for us. We are having hard time in this transfer window. Which is normal with all the turbulences that we were having recently around ownership. But the time is pressing and Suarez is available for free while Boehly & Co are having a real trouble to try to convince players to come to Chelsea. Raphinha prefers Barcelona, de Ligt prefers Bayern, de Jong prefers to stay at Barca and so on and so forth.

I don’t want players who don’t want to play for us. Walk away.

Chris451 agreed. We would be silly to let Broja leave. But as 999 has said in his previous comment, I also do believe that everything concerning Broja is just rumours. We don’t have a striker currently, Broja is the only one at our disposal. It would be silly of Tuchel to let him leave.

Seems that Barcelona have now matched Chelsea’s bid for Raphina. I’m not really too bothered either way how this one pans out, but you do have to wonder how Barcelona are allowed to spend all this money on new players when they still owe some of their current players millions in missed salary payments. I’d be pretty pissed off if I was one of them!

Looks like Sterling + Ake will be our first signings. Read that Aké reached personal agreement with Chelsea although no bid has been submitted yet.

Putting aside his history with United, his age and his potentially disruptive influence if Tuchel doesn’t want Ronaldo it would be a major mistake for the Club to overrule him as it may ultimately cost us Tuchel as Manager.

I certainly hope Ronaldo will not come to us, not doubting his ability but the age and personality doesn’t go for many, I’m ok with Sterling and Aka but nothing to get excited about, we must understand though it’s extremely difficult to get the kind of players the team need but we need to refresh too so we will see.

Man city selling quality players and replacing them with even more better quality players still looking solid and recovering the money spent on signing those players, that’s what I call serious business in football. Nathan Eke and especially Sterling are good qualities however I don’t see those players from city to Chelsea as an upgrade going by Chelsea high standards. I totally agree with that gentleman we only stabilizing the squad not improving it.

Absolutely 999,the last thing we want is the manager to resign or walk out because a player he doesn’t want is foistered on to him like Lukaku was.Tuchel knew Lukaku was hard work before we bought him the second time around but at the time we were desperate for a striker and our options in the transfer market were diminishing so perhaps TT reluctantly relented his stance to keep the peace with the hierachy. We’d be toying with fire thinking we can repeat the fete bringing in another player with an asterisk next to his name (Ronaldo) against TT’s wishes

BlueLion: That’s the reality of football. Probably Boehly starts to feel it. Barça wants a player, Barça gets. Raphinha is closed to Barça now as predicted. Barça, Madrid, Bayern, Liverpool, those said “historical” clubs attract players more than Chelsea. But I don’t complain, I always consider Chelsea as up there too. We won the Champions League twice in the last 10 years.

I would prefer the way Mou (Schurrle, Fabregas, Luis, Diego Costa all wrapped up early), and now Conte, conduct the transfers. Gets early, wrap players up early. When Spurs squad are already more or less complete (ins & outs), we will just have our first signing today (Sterling). But I can’t complain, the fact that we’re still competing after sanctions to Abramovich is already good news for Chelsea fans.

Aké I don’t think he is a good player. Bournemouth went down with him. City, he did not really play. He is even smaller than Thiago Silva. So I can’t even bother if this fails. But we do need a ‘marquée’ central defender to replace Rudiger & Christensen. With de Ligt preferring Bayern, Koundé no news, I am not sure who we are approaching at the moment. Koulibaly?

Agreed Aindro, I can’t get excited by the Ake deal in the slightest. Wasn’t deemed good enough at Chelsea, relegated with Bournemouth, and not deemed good enough at City. Why exactly are we getting him back? As things stand, we’ll be going into next season with a back three of Chalobah (jury’s still out on him) Silva (will be 38 in september) and Ake (not good enough). With very little cover for those positions too. Kounde deal has gone dead, god knows why, De Ligt interested has been minimal. Koulibaly seems the most likely of whos left, but thats a deal I could’ve got behind a few seasons ago! Arsenal, Spurs and even Man U are all strengthening. Getting a bit worried about next season to be honest!
