Kepa going is inevitable imo Aindro if we can get a half decent be for him. The Plymouth keeper Michael Cooper looked promising but would he want to be a No 2 probably not.February 14, 2022 at 7:00 pm #2054455
We need to acquiesce to fact that Rudiger and Christensen will be gone at the end of season.Absolutely no point entering a dutch auction and paying Rudiger 250+ grand for 3 years to stay which will take him past 32.Christensen on the otherhand has been promised 11M euros a year to jump ship and go to Bayern or Barcelona. As far ad I”m concerned there’s nothing to negotiate, just let both players go and start planning who we’re going to go after as their replacements,we have a few months to work on it and make it come to fruition.Got a feeling Rice will cost us 100M+ to get from West Ham,I’m not even sure if he’s worth that, but that’s the price we’ll be quoted…take it or leave it.Broja Gallagher and Gilmour need to come back into our squad for next season,no excuses privaricating about who we release from the squad firstFebruary 14, 2022 at 7:04 pm #2054457
…I mean no point paying Rudiger 260+ grand a week for 3 years…February 14, 2022 at 7:19 pm #2054468
mtal61, I was one of fans that did not want Chelsea to break the wage structure for Rudiger. However his performance is solid, consistent & passionate, he is happy at the club & motivated. And this is from TT: Rudiger current pockets a reported £90,000-per-week. That makes him one of the lowest paid senior stars at Stamford Bridge.
He is one of the lowest paid. So I would understand that now he’s approaching 30, he would like to ensure a better future for his family. I don’t think the number is 260k a week though, I think it would be between 200k to 220k a week. If he doesn’t perform, we would be crazy. But the fact is his performance is superb under Tuchel. We would save money here by not having to shelve 90k to buy de LigtFebruary 15, 2022 at 4:45 pm #2054829
Thanx for the reply Aindro. The wages situation is getting stupid and out of hand now!.Forgive me for going on my anti-Lukaku soap-box again…I wonder how much you think is Romelu is on in wages?,a pretty penny I bet!,but do you think Romelu is shaking his head in disbelief and can’t sleep because his conscience is pricking him that we’re paying him so much and he’s not producing to earn that dough?…I don’t think so!.Of course Rudiger is one of Chelsea’s better players who performs consistently, maybe Rudiger is aggrieved watching Lukaku tekkin the urine and he’s telling the club…’I’m breaking sweat playing out of my skin week in week out for the Chelsea cause and you got someone like Romelu swinging the lead like he couldn’t give two stuffs,no more tekkin me for the village cretin, pay me more than what you pay Lukaku or else I’m off!.February 15, 2022 at 8:15 pm #2054922
This puts Rudiger’s wage request into perspective. It is taken from the article linked below.

2. Thiago Silva – £300,000-a-week

4. Gerard Pique – £220,000-a-week

10. Harry Maguire – £190,000-a-weekFebruary 15, 2022 at 8:18 pm #2054923
I like it mtal. Well put and probably right!!February 15, 2022 at 11:46 pm #2055020
I was surprised to see Thiago Silva’s salary that big. This is from: https://www.spotrac.com/epl/chelsea-fc/payroll/
He earns 105k poundsterling per week.
Our highest earner is Romelu Lukaku 325k per weekFebruary 16, 2022 at 12:55 am #2055023
Reece James only on 58,000 a week must be due an upgrade just quietly. I know he is pretty young but…..February 16, 2022 at 7:45 am #2055034
The next big contract agreement sets the level that the players coming up for contract renewal will look to in their negotiations ie Reece James and Mason Mount etc. That’s the problem the Club faces.February 16, 2022 at 8:36 am #2055053
Two Engalnd Internationals playing in a club side alongside a mouth that wants to whinge and whine that earns 5 times what they do. I’d call that a wage disparity if ever there was one and age certainly should not come into it, not at that level. You are right the club has a problem there which is going to blow up in time.February 16, 2022 at 10:56 am #2055140
67, Reece James signed his current contract in January 2020 it still has 3 years to run from this Summer and as I understand it the Club are looking to offer him a new improved contract that more reflects his current status.February 16, 2022 at 1:24 pm #2055223
We wanted badly to buy a striker and I think that was the price we needed to pay to attract Lukaku back to Chelsea. I am pretty sure that Chelsea are looking into extending James & Mount with offering them much higher salary. Otherwise they will leave.
But it’s also important to reduce the salary burden. Hence integrating players from the academy would help: Broja, Gallagher for next season. As well as to get rid of inefficient high paid players, for example WernerFebruary 16, 2022 at 1:41 pm #2055233
Lukaku seems to have become a bit of a pantomime villain amongst some Chelsea fans and he hasn’t always helps himself but I wouldn’t write him off just yet let’s see what transpires between now and the end of the season.
I think the injury and Covid held him back plus he lost the guys who potentially loaded a lot of bullets for him in Chilwell and James. All of which had an impact on his form imo. Even then he’s scored an average of circa one goal per every two games across all games.
Here’s another possible name Aindro:
“ETHAN AMPADU could follow in the footsteps of Trevoh Chalobah by breaking into Thomas Tuchel’s first team next season.
The versatile 21-year-old is on loan from Chelsea at Serie A side Venezia, where he has caught the eye with a string of impressive performances.”February 16, 2022 at 6:08 pm #2055396
I used to follow Serie A in my youth when there were Gullit, van Basten, Matthaus, Maradona etc. But once I saw a Premier League match early 90’s, it became my favourite right away. The speed, the passion, it’s unbeatable, until now and it’s get even better now compared to the Premier League in the early 90’s. And Serie A hasn’t stop declined IMO.
If Ampadu performs consistently there, I think he can be another academy player who succeed with this current Chelsea next season. Mount, James, Chalobah, Christensen (if he stays), Hudson-Odoi and next season they will be joined by Gallagher, Ampadu and Broja. What an exciting team will be, full of Chelsea trained players.
I still have a doubt though, I googled: he’s played 15 times for Venezia. But when you look into the detail, he’s played everywhere: left back, centre back, right back even defensive midfielder. It’s good that he’s versatile but can he cut it at Chelsea if he doesn’t play in a specific position? Or will he become Azpi part deux, who can play anywhere in the defense and even more as he can play in the midfield too?
Lukaku, I second your opinion. Me too have a high hope that he will score goals here until this season ends. Let’s seeFebruary 17, 2022 at 12:10 am #2055653
That sounds good for Reece James 999 and I would imagine that Mason Mount should be under similar consideration whatever his current contract term. Both would command substantial wage increases right now if they were on the open market. Certainly performance based wage increase consideration would be appropriate. I can imagine what sort of wage 23 year old Declan Rice would command to come to Chelsea and all three James, Mount and Rice would be similar quality on the field.February 17, 2022 at 7:54 am #2055694
67, from what I’ve read Chelsea are looking to offer Mason a new improved contract that reflects his current status his current contract was signed in July 2019 and won’t reflect that. Be good to get it done this Summer hopefully.February 17, 2022 at 3:28 pm #2055878
I think Chelsea board won’t be stupid enough about Mason Mount and Reece James. They must be working on it. On the other hand, we really have to get rid of inconsistent players who command high salary. I really think listening offers for Werner and Pulisic who are in and out but never consistent would be a start for the summer window. And probably for Kepa, it would make no sense that our 2nd GK earns 3 times than our 1st.
It goes without saying for Barkley and Saul. They shouldn’t be at Chelsea past June 2022. Promote academy players like Galagher and Broja to reduce the wage structure. Having Declan Rice would be nice but it won’t be mandatory. It would be crazy if we sell Kante. Just watched again highlights of Champions League final, he was a monster. A big game player. World Champion with country and club. Kanté, Jorginho, Kovacic and Galagher with Gilmour as a backup should form our midfield for these 2-3 years to come.February 17, 2022 at 4:06 pm #2055899
“Chelsea are planning to open talks with Mason Mount in the coming months. Discussions over new contract have not started yet, no direct contact – but Chelsea want to negotiate this year to avoid problems. 🔵🏴 #CFC
His current Chelsea deal expires in June 2024.” Fabrizio Romano 17/02February 17, 2022 at 8:00 pm #2055988
One average game for Kante who was probably carrying an injury and I’ve read elsewhere people saying we should sell him. Crazy talk. Only recently he put in an effort at his highest level when we desperately needed it. He is now that age when Chelsea prefer not to offer long term contracts however has a contract running until June 2023. He is therefore in that territory where we could lose him for nothing and that is why the club may sell him to finance Declan Rice. It would all be about business transactions, not performance in my opinion. I am fairly sure most supporters would give the man 100% respect and total credit for what he has done for the club to date.
