2 good signings we needed finesse upfront and height at the back, just a question mark about the age.

What about Ampuda? His had enough loan spells, old enough to be integrated or does Tuchel have reservations about him?, on Colwill it’s being reported he will be going on loan?

I saw the squad that’s in USA, huge, imagine quite a few players will go on loan or be sold, problem is time is flying by. Lots to sort out for Tuchel.

Premier League will allow 5 substitutions, it’s better to have a large squad than a small one. But yes we do have sell or to loan out players. Wit Sterling already joined, one of Ziyech, Werner, Pulisic or Hudson-Odoi will have to go. My preferences is Werner (high salary & ineffective) or/and Pulisic (inconsistent) to be sold.

Koulibaly on the other hand isn’t sufficient yet as backline lost regular 2 players in Christensen and especially Rudiger. The question is: does Tuchel trust Colwill or Ampadu? It looks like he doesn’t and Chelsea are looking for another reinforcement in Ake and/or Kimpembe.

Aindro I think we will get one more defender for sure and possibly two

Luckydestiny: Koulibaly plus one more defender, it’s ideal IMO. We won’t need two more. We have Chalobah & Colwill. It would be a mistake to let Colwill leave IMO. We will also need a RB if Azpi leaves as we’ll be a bit thin there with only Reece James. Hence Koulibaly + one more CB (Kimpembe ahead of Aké) and a RB. LB if Emerson stays, we’re well covered even if Alonso leaves.

Another question: would we need to buy a pure striker after Lukaku left? Or can we give opportunities to Broja? I’m thinking we should keep Broja in the squad, rotate him with Havertz and Sterling as our no:9 or false 9.

Happy with the two signings so far, hope it doesn’t stop there.Ake could be a super addition too, someone young and quick in a back 3 or central defence, similar to how TT used Reece there on a number of occasions last season. Now with Lukaku gone we need to retain Broja if we need a bonafide striker who can add presence imho. For me ,with Sterling here Werner is surplus to our requirements and can go.Would love us to bring back Ampadu and give him a go,no more loans for him. With the 5 subs rule now implemented our up and coming academy players if they are good enough ready and able should not be griping about not getting game time here and would rather go out on loan

“Have Liverpool really strengthened they’ve signed players but two are squad players and whilst they’ve signed Nunez they’ve lost Mane ”

Opinion is mixed within our camp. Klopp got a bit indignant when asked about it there recently but I think there are valid question marks, regards our ability to sustain a title challenge.

My position sounds like a bit of a paradox, because I’ve tipped us to win the league, comfortably. Even as I said it at the time, there’s that part of me that looks at our midfield and seeing problems.

Of course, we’ll likely employ a 4231 at times and that takes away some of the need for midfield depth but I also think it complicates things… but it’s not worth going into.

Liverpools first 11 is IMO the best in the PL but losing Mane is no joke. It’s worth noting however that he was very poor in the first half of the season. You cant say this without getting into a fight :P… its true though.

Nunez still has a lot to cover though, as we’ve still lost a world class player and there’s no getting around that.

I have to say lads, I am intrigued with Chelsea’s project but I’m not so sure about your signing of Ake but K think the Sterling signing was absolutely brilliant.
I’m not Sterlings greatest fan but he’ll be perfect for what Chelsea really need. You woulkdnt think that Sterling is a great finisher etc but he does get a decent amount of goals, especially ,considering that he isnt actually a striker.

Is it just me or did City give him away kinda cheaply also? They might regret that.

Looking at City and Liverpool though, both have some big changes in. After them it’s yourselves and Spurs, who have thwe ability to mount a title challenge. I dont think we’ll see anything from Utd, or anyone else TBH.

Nine, I hope you’re getting better man. Pop into the Liverpool page with your opinion here or there.

mtal61: I am not sure about Aké. He is small for a CB. He wasn’t regular with Chelsea, and now he isn’t regular with City. I am still of opinion that Kimpembe is a better option. I would love Marquinhos though 🙂

Ampadu I am not so sure, but I would keep the following academy graduates in the squad: Gallagher(no brainer), Gilmour, Broja & Colwill.

I still see City as THE favourite but Liverpool already replaced Mané quickly with Nunez. So yeah, Nunez cost a lot, so they’ve reinforced. But again on paper, a player can cost a lot but on the field nothing, it can happen. We saw it with Shevchenko, Torres and the worst of all Lukaku. The guy did NOTHING but caused discord. For almost 100m.

With respect Aindro I think Ake has been unlucky. He was comfortable at Chelsea as squad player. He wanted more game time so transfered to Bournemouth playing regular in over 100+ games.Pep Guardiola at Man.City rated him and duely bought him where Ake played 20+ times.Ake was up against quality at Man.City to get games so he wasn’t a regular. That doesn’t mean Ake is not good enough for us,far from it!.As a defender he’s far better than those ‘accident waiting to happen’ messrs Alonso and Sarr…imho!

Unfortunately there is not a surfeit of quality Centre Backs available on the transfer market currently and we are having to replace Rudiger one of the best Christiansen and possibly Azpi too if we sign Koulibaly he will be a perfect replacement for Rudiger imo and if we were to sign Ake he is certainly not worse than Christiansen and he’s probably better, additionally he’s a left sides player too let’s wait and see how things work out I’m pretty sure we will sign two central defenders possibly three dependent on the Azpi situation.

Mak, yeah I stand by my statement of ” Have Liverpool really strengthened they’ve signed players but two are squad players and whilst they’ve signed Nunez they’ve lost Mane ” that’s the way that I see it but I still think it’s a two horse race for the title again between City and Liverpool. Whoever wins it I think it will be close again.

Chelsea are rebuilding I think the best we can hope for is retaining a CL place providing we get the right players in during this window. Sterling is a good start imo and his price was influenced by the fact he was in the last year of his contract.

Thanks for your kind words.Cheers 9’s

Mtal as the most intelligent poster you may be but I disagree that Aka has been unlucky though I do agree that he will be a better bet than Alonso or Sarr or Ampadu and I would say his on par with Christiansen who wasn’t the greatest either. Very difficult to find players in historically Chelseas class. Werner and Jorginho should also go, they weaken the team in general play. Problem is everyone wants to play regularly and that’s not going to happen with certain players.

Never been a fan of Jorginho myself although at one time I had hope for him, feel his holding back more enterprising players, Gallagher is one youngster we must not even talk about selling or going on further loans, he needs to be integrated into the starting 11 from day one. Maybe Gilmour can go on loan as he just had a poor season for whatever reasons but it needs to be to at least a probable mid table club not one that’s going to be fighting for survival. I would also send Sarr on loan. I read they going to sell Colwill? I haven’t really seen much of him, he did not have a good game in the promotion playoffs but I think we should persevere with him for another season going by all accounts.

“Ake has been linked with a move back to Stamford Bridge for several weeks. It had been claimed personal terms were agreed for him to join Thomas Tuchel’s side.

However, Chelsea will now have to look elsewhere. The Athletic claims City were not keen on selling Ake in this window, seeing his versatility as a crucial part of Pep Guardiola’s side.

Chelsea were also not able to meet the Premier League champions’ valuation of the player. A mutual decision has therefore been reached between City and Ake for him to stay at the club, which he is claimed to be happy with.” Express

Seems like we may have to look elsewhere???

The BBC has been forced to apologise after wrongly showing a photo of Raheem Sterling during a report on a Premier League footballer arrested on suspicion of rape.

Sterling was announced as Chelsea’s latest signing, and the image of him in his new kit accidentally appeared in the background. The player accused has not been named.

“A Premier League player arrested on suspicion of rape has not been suspended and can fulfil his professional…” the host said, before suddenly stopping. “We’ll have more on that story a bit later on.”

As “xxxx ups” go they don’t come much more embarrassing than this.

As usual the internet is full of who the alleged player is.

“Chelsea striker Armando Broja is in high demand currently and the Blues might be willing to listen to offers for him this summer. This is according to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs (h/t football.london), who reports that the Albanian is open to a permanent transfer if he is not given instant game time.”

I think Broja is one for the future and would be a useful plan b this season but I don’t think he can demand “instant game” time.

Shame with ake nine, I really think we need a player with his profile on left of the three defenders. Hopefully it means we step up pursuit of kimpembe who is of similar profile and potentially a better long term signing.

Re Broja, if we don’t sign a striker he should be rubbing his hands at the opportunity for him this season. If he has the ability I hope tuchel can utilise it but it has to be earned.

I seen that report as well the Aka deal is off cause City wanted too much for him. I’m okay with this too however there is not too many choices available probably why we want for him in the first place. What about lowering our sights a bit try to find one in lower clubs.

Personally I’m pretty relieved the Ake deal is off. Don’t think he’s the player we should be signing to go to the next level. Kimpembe, on the other hand, is a signing I can definitely get behind. He has the ability to piss opponents off the same way that Rudiger could. Always nice to have a central defender like that! A back three of Kimpembe, Silva and Koulibaly, with Chilwell and James as wingbacks is without doubt the best defence in the league (on paper at least).
