Would not disagree at all LD. I think Boelhy wants CR7, if it gets much closer to the registration dates for the league and CL with no striker signed,he may well tell TT to suck it up.

Let’s face the global merchandising appeal of CR would recoup a reasonable slice of his cost, and he would score a goal or two.

I can only wish Timo Werner all the very best in his future career he always gave 110% even in his most difficult of times and he was part of the team that delivered the 2021 Champions League such a shame it didn’t work out for him at Chelsea albeit he leaves with a CL winners medal which I guess he would have settled for before he signed for Chelsea.

The price for Fofana is ridiculous but if Leicester don’t want to sell him and Chelsea want him so badly £85m is what it might take as Mtal suggested earlier on this thread if we’re prepared to bid £70m then just pay the £85m that Leicester allegedly want and get the deal done asap albeit it’s crazy money and more than he’s actually worth.

I can’t help thinking that Connor Coady on a season long loan would have filled a gap and given us some thinking time but that possibility is gone now.

Timo Werner has penned a farewell letter to Chelsea fans after his return to RB Leipzig was confirmed.

The forward leaves Stamford Bridge having scored 23 goals in 89 games in all competitions.

After the move was confirmed, he wrote on Twitter: “Today marks the end of my journey with Chelsea FC.

“I am incredibly grateful for the time I spent at this special club. At this point I would like to express my appreciation for my team-mates, the coaches and staff, and especially for you, the special supporters of Chelsea Football Club.

“I felt so much love and support throughout the last two years and I will never forget how you guys stood behind me in good and challenging times!

“We lifted trophies like the Champions League together and I will always remember the song you wrote and chanted for me. I’m already looking forward to hopefully playing at Stamford Bridge again one day. See you soon, Timo.”

Timo Werner, it did not work for him nor for Chelsea FC. I think he simply could not adapt to Premier League. The speed, the roughness, I have even impression that he could not adjust to life in the UK even (just guessing, no proof, I don’t even know how life is in the UK :D). But like Morata before, if one doesn’t feel settled personnally, of course it will be reflected at work too. It’s best for him and for CFC that he found another club.

Fofana, if we want him, once again just pay up. No other choice. He just signed an extension not long ago. de Jong, I fail to understand where we need him. If Gilmour or Ampadu isn’t good enough, Connor Gallagher, isn’t he good enough?? Give chance to our academy graduates! Seriously. We will waste money for a player we don’t really need. I really hope de Jong doesn’t come to Chelsea.

Aindro I totally agree the problem is Tuchel wants ready made big expense names. He may give a couple of young players some game time now and again but his not a coach who develops young talent. So sadly the likes of Gallagher and company are there just in case he needs them, I hope I’m wrong cause we all want to see our young players flourish but that seems to be the consensus of opinion on all the forums. They all going to leave eventually unless the new owners have their own ideas.

Andro, I think our priorities have to be a Centre Back and an offensive player.

I’m not sure how interested we really are in De Jong and whether he really even wants to leave Barca but De Jong is at a completely different level to Gilmour and Ampadu and a different type of player to Gallagher.

Closest player to compare him to in the PL is probably Declan Rice.

Aindro, De Jong would be a good signing. A goal threat and a player capable of unleashing our forwards by driving the ball forward and making forward defence splitting passes. All in contrast to what we have now, with all the sideways and backward laboured passing. We should become more dynamic going forward

Re Forfana, I hope we don’t do any deals with Brendan Rogers. Same goes with Everton and Moyes at West Ham.

Chris. If we eventually do a deal for Forfana it will be done over Rodgers head.😊

Moos “He may give a couple of young players some game time now and again but his not a coach who develops young talent.”

Yet Tuchel has consistently selected Rees James and Mason Mount throughout his tenure at Chelsea.

I think the majority on here believe the squad needs strengthening and that’s what the Club is trying to do. Sterling and Koulibaly are both good steps in that direction.

“According to The Times, the Blues are edging closer to reaching an agreement with Barca for the 25-year-old’s transfer fee.

It is explained Manchester United previously agreed a £63million deal earlier this summer to sign De Jong, but the player would prefer to join Chelsea due to their offer of Champions League football.

The report explains Thomas Tuchel’s side will wait the Barcelona star’s decision once the transfer fee is fully agreed.

It’s been claimed De Jong has told teammates that Chelsea would be a good next destination for him if he’s forced to leave the Camp Nou amid financial issues, albeit his preference would be to stay where he is.”

If Fofana is one we want then go for him NOW!,let’s not play it cute and leave it till the last minute to make a once and for all bid or else Leicester will snub any buying overtures for the player giving the excuse that there’s no time left for them in this transfer window to spend the money. There is nothing compelling Leicester to sell has they haven’t set their sights to high but if they suddenly having the money they might feel they can go out and buy 2 or 3 players with the proceeds of the Fofana sale to make them competitive for more than they originally planned for…AIN’T SCIENCE!.We’ve been waiting patiently for Gallaghers return from loan to give him a run in our team after his exploits for Palace.Really hope we don’t have a change of mind and put the kid on hold again because theirs a chance we can get De Jong.We needed someone like Gallagher last season as the kid was in a rich vein of form but we couldn’t make use of him as he was out on loan, even Tuchel himself said the kid was going to be a valuable asset to us.Just hope all that Tuchel talk wasn’t just mere lip service,TT needs to practice what he preaches and give the kid a go for us!

Okay I know a lot of the reports in the paper may be just media hype, but to me the biggest frustration is the scatter brain approach we seem to be taking.

We knew the priorities where strikers and Central defenders.

So we sign Sterling, where we already have an abundance of left sided attacking players, and if reports are to be believed the only reason Timo left is because he pushed for the move, otherwise we would still have a left sided imbalance.

We sign an 18 year old midfielder Chukwuemeka, 13 appearances for Villa in 2 seasons, give him a squad number but not Ampadu or Gilmour both established internationals.

We are linked with De Jong, who there is absolutely no point in signing if we hold on to Jorghino as Jorghino makes the late great Butch Wilkins look like the most attack minded player in the history of football and he would stifle De Jong.

As of yet we have not even made a serious attempt at a coordinated attempt to sign a striker. We desperately need a Director of Football to take over the transfers and structure an approach with the first team coach.

In saying that, again I have concerns about Tuchel who does not appear to have any confidence in our Academy players, who lets face it won nearly all in front of them in the youth set up. How much time would James and Mount get if Frank had not established them into first team.
If he signs De Jong and does not get shot of at least one of our existing mids, Gallagher will be asking for a move.

As I say it is all a bit scatter brain at the minute, and the risk is we end up selling the promising academy players, the new Tuchel signings do not blend in and he gets sacked.

100% agree with that NI seemingly the owners think the same and hopefully that will happen in the not to distant future.

nine: indeed, hence why de Jong when we already have Kanté, Jorginho, Gallagher, Kovacic, I don’t really get it. Would his transfer be Boehly’s preference and not Tuchel’s? And concerning Gallagher, I think he has to adapt his game to our “pattern”. There’s no way with 3-4-3 he can play like he did at Palace. He has to adapt to become an attacking no:6. I reckon he should be able to, he is a good player. And yes we need a CB and Fofana should be our priority.

MightyMoses, Chris451: I don’t have problem to strengthen elsewhere but in CM we have abundance of talents plus an establish core in Jorginho, Kanté, Kovacic. Hence I don’t rate de Jong necessary.

NIBlue: so far I’ve seen, Sterling is a different class than our existing wide attackers. Goals will come from him, he was unlucky to be in an offside position. And we sold Werner. If we can sell Ziyech or CHO, buying Sterling will certainly be justified. About no striker, Tuchel wants our team to be fluid. I expect Havertz or Armando Broja to shine. Hopefully

Declan Rice is an exceptional player, a former Chelsea youth, probably even a Chelsea fan. De Jong would prefer to stay at Barcelona but doesn’t want any salary cut. Same position, different quality, nine. 😉
