This is going to be a strange summer transfer thread. Not everyone can splash like they usually would. On top of that it’s Euro 2021, so if there are any potential players. We need to get them before the competition incase they have a blinder.

We need a central defender and a proper striker as a matter of urgency, if someone is willing to buy Pogba and he won’t renew then use his funds to buy a central midfielder as well.

I reckon Raiola will quietly run down Pogba’s contract like he’s done with Donnarumma. Imagine the signing on fees they’ll both get when Pogba is out of contract

Pogba is an interesting one. Hard to see a top club come in and pay a decent fee for him in the summer considering the impact of Covid and that he’ll be able to sign a pre contract 6 months later. I would sell him and take what’s on offer but what cant happen is we go in to next season with him in his final year and the media circus in full flow. We dont need those types of distractions.

Another interesting one is Sancho. Think we played that well in the summer but is he worth the £88M Dortmund want for him? I cant see many more clubs interested for that type of coin. Think that money could be better spent elsewhere. Plus if Diallo is the real deal where does he fit in? A lot of shit to get sorted in the squad this summer

I think we’ll be lucky if we get £50 million for Pogba in the summer. My guess is we’ll be back in for Sancho this summer ready to offer up to £80 million
Dortmund will need to sell one of Haaland or Sancho. I’m sure Sancho will want to move, not sure if Haaland will be happy to stay for one more season

I may be wrong, but I think the signings of Diallo in particular, and Pellistri has signalled the end of any potential deal for Sancho, especially at anything close to 80m. I think the priorities in the summer are going to be RB, CB and DMF and anything else will depend on sales and what Ole decides to do about Martial’s position within the team.

@blacky – yeah I thought so too, though I guess it depends how Diallo goes for the rest of the season (if he even gets game time).

Think striker will definitely be an area that Ole will look at – think he knows we’re not clinical enough in front of goal overall and someone like Kane or Haaland would be a better investment than Sancho at this stage.

    Cheers

Not sure i have the energy for this thread yet.
But Ole will need to be seriously backed this summer, get him the final pieces of the squad he needs. Then the pressure will really be on him next season – make or break!

I think we’re the one club who can still splash during this Covid period as am sure we still making more money then other clubs.

Can I ask, has anyone seen Sancho play regularly?

Haven’t seen him play but I know his stats are way down on last year. His head was definitely turned this summer by us and it’s taken him a while to get back to form. He’s starting to get back to a decent level recently but if Diallo is as good as everyone says and Pellistri is willing to be a decent squad player then we won’t need him. Dortmund are going to want to sell someone as they’re being tipped to make 80m euro losses this season due to an empty stadium. Selling one of Sancho or Haaland would help them break even. If this scenario is true then it’s a prime time to go for Haaland as our main striker. Kane is too injury prone while Haaland seems to be the real deal. I’d only be wary of Raiola as his agent. If we could come to an arrangement with Raiola that we’d let Pogba go to Real or Juve for a lesser fee if he’d help us get Haaland in the door, that would be something perhaps. I also think, with Haaland’s father having a very strong influence on his son, Raiola will be less of an issue with regard him being unsettled. Raiola made noises earlier about moving and Alf Inge was out fairly quickly to dispute him saying Irling would be happy to stay at Dortmund next season.

Obviously having Diallo and Pellistri makes it look like we won’t be in for Sancho but if anything I think it just means we won’t be ripped off for him as we are no longer desperate. I wouldn’t be surprised if Pellistri spent next season out on loan too – either in La Liga or Premier League. Also if we manage to clear Lingard, Mata and Pogba we could do with one more AM/ no. 10.

As hesitant I am about bringing in another Raiola player, Haaland is by far the best option up front. Apart from Mbappe and Kane who would both cost more than twice as much, I can’t think of any strikers out there who come close to him

We need to strengthen the spine of the team in the summer. I expect and hope Pogba is sold and Diallo will fill the RW position but we need a CB with pace and a physical striker. I believe the whole cm needs a re-jig. Matic should be sold before he becomes more deadwood, we could do with an upgrade on Fred and I’m not convinced by VDB who looks one paced and a bit lightweight for the PL. Pity about Sancho but I think BD have missed the boat with him. They won’t get anywhere near what they want for him in the current climate. Serves the greedy bastards right!

I’d keep Fred, he’s not the greatest but he works like a trooper and makes life difficult for other midfielders. He’s a very good squad player, he’s well down the queue of players to get gone.

Defo need a striker and a beast of an dmf,and if Pogba,Mata,James,Matic,JLing,Andy, are sold/let go,then Grealish should be our main priority.

@killy – The big problem with keeping Fred is that if we do buy another DMF player (and we certainly should!) that will mean we have Fred, McT, Matic and A N other vying for what should only be one position within the team. We’ve got to get away from this concept of playing two number six’s in most games, it’s far too negative a tactic in today’s game. So for me Fred would have to be the one to go, otherwise we will be getting into the crazy scenario again of having to renew a players contract even though he isn’t anywhere near good enough to play at the very top level of the game. Plus we might just get around 25m or so for him to add to the overall transfer budget to buy much better quality players.

Ordinarily I would agree that Matic would be the one to be shown the door before Fred, but seeing as he’s just signed a new deal to 2023 and also considering his age I just don’t see him going anywhere.

Blacky-The only way we will get rid of grandad Matic is if we pay him to leave, like Arse did it with their deadwood.

Anyone heard about this Shola Shoretire kid? I heard a few days ago that we had beaten Barcelona, Bayern Munich, PSG & Juventus to his signature. But now i think he’s actually been a part of our academy all along and we’ve managed to tie him down and fend off the other big clubs….
Anyway he’s a 17 year old left winger.
I’m hearing today that he has already impressed in training sessions and is tipped to break into the first team this season…
    🙂

He’s quick but think he’s just turned 17. Wouldn’t expect him to break into first team this season
Now Anthony Elanga on the other hand. He was flying before he picked up that injury couple games ago. Hopefully it’s not serious

Not a bad article, certainly a good case for keeping Fred ahead of Matic.
