Pep on City’s winning run – “We have a lot of money”.
‘Pep Guardiola joked that the key to their formidable run is their financial backing’.
Is he fucking serious???? Ha ha ha! Wow. I’ve always thought the guy was a fucking arrogant prick but is he actually seriously trying to say that where City are as a club right now is not down to money??
Ha ha ha – and i thought i was fucking delusional!!

Could Isak put himself on United’s radar with a good performance tonight? His pace surprised me in the first leg and he scored a hat-trick since. In fact he’s scored 8 goals in his last 7 games

Dortmund do have a €30 million option on him which does complicate things.

Lots of talk about Botman. The young lad Djalo playing alongside him looks better

Isak is a fine player. Some spectacular goals on his account.
I thought their number 8 Merino was good too.

Declan Rice for £20 + Lingard + Matic – Jones
That’d be a struggle even hacking Football Manager 🤣🥃🤣

Man Utd to offer West Ham big-name trio to sweeten Declan Rice deal

I think Aarons at £35 million odd would only make sense if, unlikely as it is, we somehow managed to get £20 million odd for Dalot. More importantly through I’m not sure it would make sense from his point of view to choose us over either Everton OR Bayern

Time for Amad and Greenwood to be given a run of games on the right wing and up front respectively? Could influence our summer transfer plans

Serious death of top strikers out there. Apart from Mbappe, Haaland and Kane who would all cost a fortune it’s not easy to find a quality no. 9

Ings is very good but probably not good enough. Jimenez maybe depending on his recovery. Patrick Schick is a good CF but not a prolific goalscorer. Andre Silva is doing well at Frankfurt but did nothing when he was at Milan. Luka Jovic can’t even get into that Frankfurt team

    Any thoughts/ suggestions?

    @homerjay540,

If we can’t get one from Haaland, Mbappé and Kane then I’m voting to forget about a new striker for now and instead spend the money elsewhere.

I also advocate we play the 4-3-1-2 formation more, in which Rashford and Cavani are first choice up front with Greenwood and Martial back-up. I think four strikers/CFs for two positions is generally enough, but maybe someone from the Academy can be promoted to fifth choice when needed.

Obviously if Martial leaves we have to buy someone though.

As for Amad and Greenwood, I think they should share the RW/RF position, with Greenwood also being third choice ST/CF. He has to improve his box-play and hold-up play if he wants to play centrally. Today against Chelsea James put in a great cross towards the first post for him but he didn’t anticipate it and thus didn’t get on the end of it.

I also think bringing in a more attacking and overlapping RB (Max Aarons) as rotation for Awb would greatly benefit Greenwood. Having someone providing the width on the right would allow him to cut in and get into scoring positions more easily. Also, Aarons has good technique which would facilitate triangle plays between him, Greenwood and Fernandes on the right like we see with Shaw, Rashford and Fernandes on the left. In short, we would become a more balanced team that threatens on the right as well as on the left.

Leeds Raphina is a very good winger,a swap with James would warm my heart.
I want Haaland too but he is bound to be blue in City or Chelsea.
Wouldnt mind take a punt on Sociedads Isak he is better than what folks thinks.

Yeah Raphina is quality and a little older than what we got. He would make that RW position his own allowing Greenwood to fight for striker position

I think Isak is impossible as Dortmund have a €30 million buy back option on him. We couldn’t just go to Sociedad with an offer of €40 million as Dortmund would simply exercise their option and with Haaland leaving either this summer or next the Germans would probably demand a lot more for Isak

Irrespective of who does or who doesn’t come in the one thing I’m certain of is it won’t be anywhere near enough to plug all the gaping holes in this squad. As far as I’m concerned there is only Henderson, Shaw, McT (just), Bruno, Greenwood and Rashford worth preserving with, the rest are just a mediocre bag of shite.

Mbappe is not an 9 and apparently wants to only play as a left-sided attacking forward. That leaves Haaland,Kane,Lautaro,Icardi,L.Jovic,A.Silva,DCL,Richarlison,etc.

Primarily we need three new players in the next transfer window:

    1. A fast CB so that we are guaranteed to always have at least one fast CB even when Bailly and Tuanzebe are not available.
(Koundé, Koulibaly, Alaba, Varane, Badiashile or Carmo)

    2. An attacking RB that overlaps Greenwood so he can cut in and get into scoring positions more easily and we become more of a threat on the right like we are on the left.
    (Aarons)

    3. A CDM/DLP who allows McTominay or whoever is the BTB midfielder to go forward more.
    (Bissouma)

Then if Pogba and Martial leave then we also need replacements for them. Grealish and Haaland being the obvious candidates, but perhaps the money would only be enough to buy one of them. Or we go for two cheap options and try to find bargains. Or perhaps Mejbri can come into the fold and Greenwood maybe move into CF while Amad takes up the RF/RW spot, though that’s a lot of perhapses and maybyses.

@cr – I watched Bissouma again against ‘mighty’ WBA at the weekend, to say he was a complete and utter bag of useless shite is putting it mildly. I wouldn’t pay for that fucker with a bag of rusty washers, simple as that.

    @blacky,

I could be wrong but from what I’ve seen of him he seems very impressive, he seems to be bit of a mixture of a CDM and a DLP which is exactly what we need. Can both break up play and play a pass. Good technique, good passing, energetic, high work rate etc. Rice is good as well but he’d cost more and I have questions about his passing and technical ability in tight areas.

To be sure, I do rate and Fred could be back-up to both the new CDM/DLP and McTominay, meaning he’d still play a lot. Perhaps Levitt/Garner/Galbraith can take one of the midfield spots eventually as well.
