If Atleti are looking for 40m for Trippier, why not just go and get Max Aaron’s for about the same money…

Agreed but having spent so much on AWB I don’t think United ever planned to spend over 15/ 20 million on a right back. I think for some reason we thought we could get him on the cheap but it turns out we can’t

Again, stick with Dalot if you ask me

But why not Brandon Williams? If he’s not good enough now, when will he be?

Because Dalot is coming back from a season loan whereas Williams is coming off the back of a season where he barely played. Williams needs regular competitive football to continue improving. A season of regular PL football will do him wonders

Williams isn’t good enough for me. Game lad yes, passionate yes and versatile to boot both lacking quality going forward.
He’s an old style full back but game has moved on.
Dalot vastly superior going forward .
    Loan or sell Williams.
Play AWB when we have to defend. Play Dalot when we will own the ball against lesser opponents.

Seeing Matic and Andy shit the bed against QPR in pre-season friendlies hardly helps us find a buyer. Maybe we should wrap them in cotton wool and pray!

Exactly moral, he isn’t good enough and needs shipping out. That’s my point. There comes a time when you have to evaluate these lads and if they’re not good enough, get rid.

Exactly JM. We keep all these guys on the books and cant get rid – Andy, Phil, Juan, Eric – they block the path of more willing and able bodies.

Have you lads lost the plot? Williams is an academy product who had a great breakthrough season followed by a year mostly on the bench due to return if first team players
I’m not saying he is or ever will be good enough to be first choice at United but give him a fucking chance. Send him out on loan to get back into the swing of first team football and see how he gets on

Agree it’s time to move on the likes of Jones, Bailly, Pereira, Matic and Lingard

Killy – Just coming back to your post. I think I saw Bruno has 58 goals and assists in his last 70 games. I have no idea why someone would want to call him a flat track bully. Yes he was burnt out at the end of last season but he’s pretty much creating a goal in every game he plays, it’s madness.
Lukaku was a flat track bully when he played for us, all his goals were against Southampton and West Ham – fuck all against the top 6. But he had nowhere near Bruno’s output.

Be a big shame if we don’t get a first team full back out of either Brandon Williams or Ethan Laird. There were high hopes for both.

Injuries look to have done for Laird but I would give Williams the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully our coaches can get in his head and encourage him to work his bollocks off and cut out all the noise and distractions. Be nice to see a North Manchester lad from Harpuhey make it but if he goes out on loan then I think that is curtains for his Manchester United career.

Ethan Laird was out on loan at MK Dons for the second half of last season. Played 24 games, pretty much every game. He did very well. If he keeps progressing we have nothing to worry about with him

@happy, yeah his stats are out of this world but in the big games, the EL final being one, he hasn’t been as productive as against lesser teams. I’m not saying he’s crap or even bad, he’s a fantastic player but needs to produce consistently against bigger teams is all I’m saying.

Looks like the bookies have stopped taking bets on Varane leaving Madrid

And as a bonus seems Jones is on the way out too 👍

I’ll not believe it homerjay…not until Jones is pictured holding aloft a Fleetwood Town scarf at his unveiling. Gurning away because we are still paying his £75k a week salary.

Varane for 34m is an absolute masterclass of a deal!!!

You can’t blame Phil Jones for sitting there taking the money, I mean who wouldn’t? It’s been one monumental cock up after another, awarding the guy contract after contract. A multi millionaire of an average footballer, and he’s not alone.

Yep, good business happy as you say. Doesn’t bode well for what we might get for Pogba though.

    #1976646

Varane for 36-41m when he’s on his last year of his contract and has pretty much made it obvious that he won’t be renewing, as well as Real Madrid being broke AF and desperate to sell players, isn’t exactly a great deal…
