I’d rather sign a proven player that plays LB (and also LWB). Imagine Sandro and Hazard on the left. Would cause problems all day and night. Plus Alonso can play in games where we require a more physical type player such as against Burnley etc

We need to be ruthless in our transfers otherwise we will fall further behind

I still think we should not buy players who are 30 years old or more. We need to think a bit farther. So no Vidal, no Higuain, no Hamsik.
LB: we have Alonso, why should we buy?

What’s the desperate need for a LB. Alonso and Emerson are just fine. Emerson looks very very promising actually. Would be crazy to sell him now. I’d also keep Luiz and see how he goes under the new manager. I’d migrate him to central midfield. I certainly wouldn’t sell Willian either even if a swap deal with Martial was offered. The papers are quoting 35m for Willian and 60m for Marek Hamsik…who’s a year older. Are they mad? I’d also give Morata another shot…maybe he would thrive under a new manager. Players to sell would be Pedro, Zappacosta, Drinkwater and possibly Zouma. Players in are a top right back, centre forward, winger and central midfielder.

I was a supporter of Morata, but I am not sure if we should take the risk to trust our attack to him one more time. It really does not seem that he wants to adapt. He keeps falling, keeps complaining. And the result is he wastes so many chances.

I would sell him to fund for a new striker. Who, that’s another problem, no idea so far. For me, no to any players to be bought older than 30 years old. No.
So no to Hamsik, no to Vidal, no to Higuain. I would retain Zappa though, I think right back, center-back and left back: we don’t need to buy.
We do need to buy a CM to probably replace Fabregas. We do need to buy a striker to replace Morata. We do need to buy a creative source to replace Pedro.

Don’t you love it that United don’t want to sell Martial to a direct rival that has gifted them Mata and Matic (a few seasons back) while players such as Rooney (way back) and Lukaku (recently) from Everton were also purchased by them from within. If reports are true they also want Willian from Chelsea. Hypocritical bastards. Heads I win tails you lose is their attitude.

You guys are forgetting that the probability is that Conte will be out and the favourite is Sarri who plays 4-3-3.

Alonso is a good wing back but he lacks pace. If you want to see an improved Chelsea, you have to upgrade your players. Alonso has not been great playing in a back 4 in the past and has had the luxury of the LCB covering for him. He won’t get that in a back 4.

In terms of signing 30 year olds, you have to make exceptions for world class players. Lewandowski will be a huge upgrade on Morata and Giroud. Granted we will only get 2 or 3 years out of him but if that’s the difference in winning the league then it’s well worth it. Plus look our the team that played in the FA Cup final, how many players were 28 and over? Cahill (32), Fabregas (31), Azpi (28) and Giroud (31). Out of those 4 it is likely that Cahill and Giroud will be on the bench therefore only Cesc at 31 will be older than 28 in our first team. So we can make an exception for a world class player who will be 30 and doesn’t rely on pace.

All those wanting to get rid of Morata after just one season reminds of all those calls to dump Salah after an equally short period and look how that turned out!!!!

Gibblue – They are different situations. Salah was always behind Hazard Oscar and Willian. Morata will not settle in playing second fiddle and i don’t think he is good enough to be our main striker next season. I’d happily keep Morata but i’d like to get Lewandowski and he would be our main striker. We could have kept Salah and rotated with Hazard/Willian/Oscar at the time, however Jose decided he was not good enough as a squad player.

It would be a shame to lose Morata as he is obviously a very skilful player. I’m wondering if he could play on the right of a front three? Hazard / Lewandowski / Morata sounds like a pretty good – almost Real Madrid type front three to me.

I cannot get my head around the exchange deal Sarri has a 8 million buy out clause even though Ancelotti has been installed at Napoli, and now we are said to be offering Luiz as exchange, I know Luiz did not play a lot last season but would of thought that was due to fall out with Conti, sure we could get more than 8 million for him if Sarri does not want him.

I have to admit I wasn’t keen on Sarri at all. I still think it could be a massive gamble, but articles like this are certainly helping to change my mind!

devchels Napoli want Luiz and reports in papers are saying they would want to buy him for £20m in exchange for letting Sarri come to chelsea for free.

So Conte is dragging his heels for a pay out… Napoli are wanting a pay out despite the fact that if Chelsea walk away the Italians could end up paying two massive contracts for two managers.

I’d say walk away. Effectively we will take a bigger hit on Luiz IF he is part of a deal to land a manager. which makes negotiating for Courtouis or Hazard… er more haphazard. Pick yourselves out of this mess my beloved Chelsea.

RDP – there is no big hit on Luiz. £20m for him is fine given his age.

The “BIG MONEY” Striker buckets of quality:

    BUCKET 1:
    Hasselbaink
    Drogba
    Costa

    BUCKET 2:
    Crespo
    Shevchenko
    Torres

    BUCKET 3:
    Sutton
    Morata

Can’t wait to see Morata leave. That £75m deal is the worse in the clubs history.

Regarding players in their late 20’s to 30’s.

Not sure why some poster are against us signing older players. Some of Chelsea best players have been in their later years and without them the club would not have established itself as it stands today.

    Gullit
    Hughes
    Vialli
    Zola
    Desailly
    Makelele
    Ballack
Drogba (27 when he signed for us)
    Belletti (played his part)
    Giroud (Recently has done wonders)

A 29 Lewandowski, a scoring midfielder like Vidal or Hamsik would be awesome signings.
