RDS: yes something changed, Spurs are strongers now than before. I agree with you that it’s Hoddle who laid the foundation for us. The FA Cup final against Man Utd and then the Cup Winners Cup ride the season after where we went to the semifinal.
May 29, 2018 at 1:03 pm #1642370I would say Hoddle as it was him who started attracting the likes of Gullitt and co to the Club. Have to say that I was not a fan of Hoddle as his diamond formation lacked flexibility and once sussed the results began to falter, however, no getting away from the foundations he laid
To be fair, Conte needed to be sacked just for losing at home to Spurs. Simply not acceptable regardless of how much they have improved….!!. KTBFFH
May 29, 2018 at 6:56 pm #1642476Chelsea needs to wake up
Sack the manager already get the new one in place and start signing players. Liverpool are on the move already.
You can expect another dismal and disorganised summer from the suits at Chelsea FC.
May 29, 2018 at 6:59 pm #1642477Zenit already appointed Semak. Means if we want Sarri, we have no competitor. What are we waiting?
bort: yes, I can expect that too. With WC starting very soon, if we don’t appoint a manager quickly and start to dig into the transfer market: we won’t get our targets quickly.I think it’s still the fee to Napoli that impedes us to sign Sarri
May 29, 2018 at 7:50 pm #1642487Bort, 100% agree with your first two paras we can only hope that the last para is proved wrong but I’m not holding my breath.😊
May 30, 2018 at 8:01 am #1642563Clearly Chelsea are reluctant to fork out extra compensation cash if they don’t need to which is why they are waiting and playing chicken with both Conte and Napoli
I am still confident that they know what they are doing and that come 01/06 we will start to see movement and things happening quite quickly. Interestingly, I bet that Conte is sweating a bit as well as he obviously is looking for a decent pay day but on the managerial front his options appear to be running out (although I am sure that someone would find a job for him but possibly not what he would prefer…?). KTBFFH
May 30, 2018 at 8:25 am #16425691905, Chelsea are contracted to pay Conte for another year he can sit tight on that and wait for the right job to pop up next Summer.
I suspect what we’re trying to do is negotiate a deal where we pay Conte say £6m now and he’s guaranteed that whilst as soon as he takes another job between now and when the contract ends we stop paying him.
May 30, 2018 at 11:54 am #1642709A lot of reports link us with Icardi if Sarri joins. I am told he is more like Drogs/Costa than Morata and has a prolific goal record but must admit that I know little else
Would he be a good buy considering I am reading the fee would be in the region of 96m…!! KTBFFH
May 30, 2018 at 1:52 pm #16427851905 Icardi would be a good buy imo he will do better than either Morata or Giroud, how much better is difficult to say due to high the standard of the EPL.
May 30, 2018 at 1:55 pm #1642787Unfortunate that so many in this world are willing to accept schoolboy errors from those that have stature however are quick and ready to trample all over those that don’t. Who compares superstars to average footballers – not I. What is being proven though is that errors are made by everybody in all walks life and therefore people need to be acceptable of that fact. My post elsewhere which you were party to 999 was in no way comparing one player to the other. What it did prove however was that elite performers in all aspects of working life get preferential treatment. That is grossly unfair. Posted that here to avoid conflict elsewhere 🙂
May 30, 2018 at 2:43 pm #1642810new keeper if Courtois goes. Who is available. Oh wait a minute – Scott Sterling – a good laugh for those that have never seen it 🙂
May 30, 2018 at 2:54 pm #1642815You bastard, everybody in the offices wants to know what I’m laughing at… need to do some work now…
May 30, 2018 at 3:11 pm #16428251967, I don’t believe in taking debates from one site to another but Gerrard slipped it could have happened to anyone and it wasn’t a mistake it was a slip.
Karius on the other hand made two ridiculous errors not for the first time on Saturday that cost his team any chance of winning the CL. Have a look at him taking a goal kick v Sunderland and putting it out for a corner.
The Gerrard slip and the two Karius errors are about as comparable as Apples are to Avocados . But it’s not a subject for the Chelsea site mate. Cheers 999
May 30, 2018 at 3:14 pm #1642827Great Vid 1967.😊
May 30, 2018 at 10:09 pm #1642932Forget the slip, the back pass which Drogba intercepted and scored from was a Gerrard error which proves my point. As I said in the previous post, posted that here to avoid conflict elsewhere as I wanted your response 🙂 Let us leave it at that.
May 31, 2018 at 9:28 am #16430101967, if you think that the Gerrard back pass puts him alongside Karius in the mistakes stakes that’s your opinion mate and your entitled to it but the two mistakes Karius made v Real killed off any Liverpool chances of winning the CL and Karius is a serial maker of mistakes whereas Gerrard is one of the best player to ever pull on a Liverpool shirt which is why we tried to buy him.
Are we bothered about Katius though?
Not me mate, just as long as we don’t try and sign him!😊
The Courtois situation though is much more bothersome I would sell him to anyone but Liverpool ideally to a European club.
This is what happens when you let players run their contracts down we could hold out against any move to Liverpool but if Courtois decided he wanted to go there he could join them on a free next Summer and sign for anyone in Europe on a free come January too.
However I doubt Liverpool will go through the Summer without significantly strengthening the Goalkeeping area which would rule out a Courtois move next Summer.
Best solution do a swap deal with Atletico for Oblak in the Summer and everyone is happy!
May 31, 2018 at 10:13 am #1643030Courtois will stay on as will Hazard in my opinion. I will be stunned if we reach the new working week without any announcement on the managerial front followed fairly swiftly with some market activity. The World Cup is only just over a fortnight away so plenty will have to happen between now and then. If not then I will be convinced Roman is losing interest or otherwise occupied as I would not think he would want a season of mid table mediocrity which is where we would be heading. Let’s hope not as this season was painful enough around these pages. Glad you enjoyed the vid btw – very funny 🙂
May 31, 2018 at 10:19 am #1643036I dont care what Courtois wants to do with his future, there are better Goalkeepers our there. If we appoint Sarri then i see a big problem for Courtois given Sarri prefer playing out from the back and the way his team builds up attack is very similar to Man City and thats a big problem for Courtois. If am in his shoes i will be very worried about this appointment.
May 31, 2018 at 1:36 pm #16431671967, hope so mate.Cheers 999
May 31, 2018 at 2:01 pm #1643179Today Courtois is linked with a surprise move to Liverpool and we are looking to bid for Allisson – who knows…
I agree that by Monday morning I expect a lot more clarity on the managerial front and I have always expected Hazard to stay and if Sarri is appointed then I see no reason to change my mind. KTBFFH
