Now that Upamecano is off to Bayern, will be a good chance to assess Konate on Tuesday

If we do not finish in Top 4 there will be very bad developments in the team!!
Yankess will sell players and Liverpool will be something between GH and BR team…
    It will be a disaster.
We are not favorites for TOP 4 and only a miracle will save us…

Bayern, can have Upamecano, he gives away the ball for too much.

I thought he was a better player, until he proved otherwise on Tuesday

Raphinia far more likely for Liverpool than Mbappe, but you just never know when it comes to Edwards and FSG as they delivered both Van Dijk and Alisson for world record fees

It won’t take a miracle for us to quality for the CL, it will just require us to hit something approaching lasts eason’s form. The team are improving now, if they can keep it up we’ll start racking up PL wins. As for FSG becoming GH+ … This is just drama.

Mak, we might even win the Champions League yet, we still have great players in the squad and they can beat anyone over two legs… Its even possible that Van Dijk could be back for the final or semis… Imagine that though, the worst champions ever winning the Champions League for the 7th time… Now that would get the old brigade ranting! Keane would have a meltdown!

I have to say Bingo, Keane really rubbed me the wrong way there recently with that rant about us being bad champions. That’s just pure hackery and he’s a Corkman, so I’d be inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt usually but that shite was so bitter, it’d be absolutely FANTASTIC to see someone like Carra rub it in his face, if we could manage number 7.

As far as things stand now, I’d be worried about meeting a really tough team in the next round, of course this one is far from over. Anfield means nothing ATM, except away goals for them, so it was so important that we got another from Mane.

Anfield means a great deal for the lads, I bet nothing has hurt them more than back to back defeats there…

I was just reading that City are preparing a 430 million bid for Messi…

If that happens this summer the market will get crazy, currently Barcelona are kinda fucked with about 80% of their entire budget going towards wages.

If they want to rebuild their side they need to let Messi go, just to get rid of his wages, that opens the possibility of them signing one of our forwards…

I can also see Madrid going for Kane, rather than Mbappe, the former must be hungry for winning something and this could be the window where he finally moves to a club that is capable of winning a title.

Then of course there is Lukaku who will be a man in demand after his latest exploits with Inter who are 200 million in minus because of the pandemic…

I dont know why but I have this feeling that this might be Mane’s last season with us, we already have a ready made replacement for him in Jota…

Doesn’t messi get to leave for 100m or something like that, if he announces it at the end of the campaign? I cant see anyone payiong 400m+ for him at this age, regardless of him being the best player ever. As for Barca buying one of our forwards with any proceeds, I guess that’s quite possible. How much would we get for them though in and around 29 years old? A lot less than we’d have got for them the summer before.

Raphfina and Neto are to good players who would really flourish Under klopp but I doubt we could afford either as their prices will have rocketed this season

Bousimaa be an ideal replacement for Winji

Messi is out of contract this summer.
Why would anyone pay 10s of millions never mind 100s of millions for him?!

I’m beginning to have a glimmer of hope that Gini might stay. Maybe he won’t like to leave his mates in the lurch, though most of the time there’s no romanticism among modern football players.

Good question Ginger. Seems Klopp didn’t want him – maybe it was just a contingency in case the Kabak deal fell through?

    Doesn’t make sense to me.
Increasingly the Kabak signing isn’t making sense either.
He’s been playing in the worst defence in the Bundesliga for a year and a half and at 20yrs old we decided to bring him in to try to help out in our defence after the rot had already set in. He doesn’t look particularly fast which is kinda a pre requisite for our central defenders.
While I don’t think Nat Philips is a med/long term answer and defo has his deficiencies he hasn’t been that bad for us when he’s played, he’s been quite good at times and is an actual centreback. So far, from what I can see from limited appearances from each, Philips is better than Kabak.

Since the summer 18/19 window after we lost the CL final when we bought Fabinho and Allison we haven’t really done much inwards business that’s made a hugely positive impact bar Jota, maybe Thiago at a stretch.
That’s 5 windows that have went by with very little impact from our transfers. We’ve won the CL AND the Prem in that time but yet failed to properly capitalise on that success in the transfer window. Jota has only played 3mths of football too.
I’ve alluded to this previously but it smacks of a squad in decline.

Kabak will improve. He’s learned the hard way that unlike the bundesliga there’s no round of observation in the pl. One thing I’ve noticed is that VVD took some time to talk and guide a new partner, Fabinho for example when he was drafted as CB for the first time.
No doubt he would have warned Kabak to be wary even in the first seconds of the match. Hendo in midfield would have helped yesterday, I’m sure he would have headed the ball as far as possible instead of dithering like Thaigo.

Ginger, my concern is that Klopp and co. thought that this system could bring sustained success but no-one could have predicted the number of injuries we have had (one a week pretty much atm) BUT when we have had most of our players available we have often huffed and puffed and got the result but these days we huff and puff and don’t get a result. We haven’t played well for 12 months now. That length of time to me is the worrying factor. It’s like an illness or a discomfort. If you get a pain and it goes in a few days or a week then usually nothing to worry about but when that pain stays for months, even a year, then it’s time to seek advice. There’s something wrong somewhere that needs urgent attention and that’s where we are at. In our case ‘the pain’ is our over reliance on our ‘system’ (something I posted separately about a while back) and simply not bringing in a top centre back when Lovren left and building on our successes of previous years.

I don’t have a problem with the Thiago and Jota signings but ONE area that you must, must ensure that it is well stocked is the back 5. We are well stocked now with Davies and Kabak (Phillips and Williams) but they are Burnley/Wolves/Crystal Palace type signings/players not former European and Premier League champions signings/players. It’s unfair to critique this level of player. Critique Virgil, yes, but is it the formers fault that they’re expected to ‘captain a ship as interns’?

My worry (like Pep at Barca) is that a) our system has been found out permanently (Everton KNEW that we would field a 433 so can plan all week to combatting that) and b) we are now square pegging/round holing and band-aiding our deficiencies and that could mightily cost us (and likely cost us) come game 38 when we are not even, potentially, in Europe and how will world class players that our on our radar this summer view that? Not in a good light.

This situation we are in could seriously cost us (again) for years to come.

We MUST change the system/formation/players going forward and be that ‘poker face’ that Klopp amusingly called Ancelotti before yesterday’s game and not give away our hand as we seem to do on a weekly basis. Wars are won through deceit not transparency.

Jesus. With City winning at Arsenal (predictable) they are now 19 points clear of us.

    Look at this.

    Week 14
    Crystal 0 Liverpool 7

We are 1st on 31 points with a GD of 17 over City who are 6th on 23 points with a GD of 7.

    Now
We are 6th on 40 pts (9 pts from 11 games – 24 points dropped) with a GD of 11
City are 1st on 59 pts with a GD of 35.

    Last 8 weeks
Us 9 points gained and a -6 DG
City 36 points gained and a +28 GD in that same timeframe.

That is a 27 point and a +34 goal differential swing in 8 weeks.

That is the biggest turnaround in that short a length of time I have ever, ever witnessed.
