I know putting up this thread in December is a little like supermarkets advertising Christmas before Easter but I don’t think there’ll be much movement in the winter window so most of the focus is on next summer…
December 6, 2021 at 2:02 pm #2027582One casualty of the RR era I expect (especially if he gets another 12 months in charge) is Wan-Bissaka
Dalot much better suited to this style of play and I think the Portuguese connection will only help him
Laird seems to be having a great season playing as wing back for Swanswa and we also have Williams out on loan this seasonWouldn’t be surprised if Newcastle moved for AWB in the summer. I’d happily take £20 million for him – cut our losses and move on
December 6, 2021 at 2:11 pm #2027586I think there’s going to be another rip it up and start again rebuilding job, despite what appeared to be good work from Ole.
Depending on what tune Ralf gets out of this group, arguably he could be looking to get in a couple of defenders. The obvious and huge gap in central midfield needs to be addressed. Then there’s the strikers, Cavani will be gone and surely a 100-year old Ronaldo can’t play every game next season. Then we have to see what he makes of the wingers, Sancho still finding his feet and Rashford going through another awful spell in his career.
He’s already made a dig about the squad being too big so you’d say there’ll be a lot of players sold off, or just politely asked to fuck off!Martial
Mata
Matic
Jones
Bailly
Lingard
PogbaThat lot are surely all gone. Then big question marks around AWB, Maguire, Van De Bench and McFred.
Hard to know where to start really…December 13, 2021 at 11:02 pm #2030294Crazy amount of big name players will be out of contract in the summer

December 14, 2021 at 6:43 am #2030297From those out of contract players, I’d take Kessie, Dybala, Cantwell and Sergi Roberto
December 14, 2021 at 1:39 pm #2030479I’ve never been convinced by Dybala and Roberto is approaching 30 with massive wage demands
Cantwell or Brooks maybe to replace Lingard and Mata if Mejbri is sent out on loan
Kessie would definitely improve our midfield but Rice and Bellingham would be ideal
December 14, 2021 at 2:15 pm #2030499Not sure if Cantwell is an improvement on anything we have if two successive managers in Farke and Smith don’t seem to want to play him. I think in his situation it’s a case of a load of unfounded hype over a decent but not great English player.
Kessie would be a good signing but I think we need a more defensive minded midfielder at the moment, like Rice. Bellingham is a generational player (by that I mean players like him only come along once in a generation), break the bank to get him.December 15, 2021 at 8:40 am #2030726I see that cunt Lingard is determined to hang about until the summer and leave on a free, as predicted by the way. Always said he had a deal with the porn kings. Greedy, ungrateful little twat. We could have got 20 mill for him last summer – another Ole fuck up.
December 15, 2021 at 9:39 am #2030758@killy, I agree re Bellingham been a generational player – reminds me if a midfield version of Rooney. He’s gone abroad and quickly made himself first choice CM ahead of the likes if Delaney, Witsel, Can and Dahoud. Love his comments on the ref too after the Bayern game. He’s obviously becoming a leader in the team already
December 15, 2021 at 9:57 am #2030762Given your Bellingham comparison with Rooney homer, I can only assume Roy Keane was before your time mate.
December 15, 2021 at 10:05 am #2030766Lingard, Pogba, Matic and Mata will all probably leave on free’s. VDB is too slow and not good enough, McFred could easily be improved upon and Bruno looks to be in terminal decline. In summary, the whole midfield could be replaced and most of them should be but it obviously won’t happen. If only ONE midfielder is coming in we are set for another decade in the wilderness.
December 15, 2021 at 10:26 am #2030780Looking at the free transfers you could easily let Matic, Pogba, Lingard and Mata go and get Kessie, Dembele, Brozovic, Kamara and even Todd Cantwell for no outlay apart from a larger than normal signing bonus, and the wages most of those players are asking for would be less that we pay the four outgoing players. Splash out on one or both of Rice and Bellingham, along with Haidara and you’ve a completely new central midfield with two wingers to push Greenwood, Rashford and Sancho. That would be the smart money but Man Utd and smart money don’t seem to go hand in hand.
December 15, 2021 at 11:01 am #2030799Spot on killy. There are some decent bargains around, but we need to get back to targeting the best players in the world in their respective positions. Still think Rice is a top holder and Bellingham the best box-to-box, but it all depends on how we’re going to play. But even if, as Zico says, Rangnick doesn’t use a holder, I’d still be in for Rice because he’s so much more than that.
December 15, 2021 at 11:06 am #2030800Agree yorkshire. Pogba, Matic and Mata need to be gone, along with Pereira and you’re right, VDB isn’t good enough. McFred are nothing more than back up for me and Bruno’s looking more and more like a busted flush. Problem is, instead of getting 50 million for him now while we can, we’ll hang on to him until he’s worth fuck all like the rest. Same with Rashford, cash him in now I say.
December 15, 2021 at 11:07 am #2030801Then there’s the defence 😩
December 15, 2021 at 11:07 am #2030802And the attack…
December 16, 2021 at 12:02 am #2031101@jm, I’m talking about Rooney and Bellingham at 16, 17, 18. Both played well beyond their years. Keane was playing for Cobh Ramblers when he was 18
December 16, 2021 at 12:15 am #2031102The attack is okay… we just need one of Haaland or Vlahovic to lead the line 😂
December 16, 2021 at 8:32 am #2031118Funny thing is the best attack we’ve had since Fergie was Rashford, Martial and Greenwood 2 seasons ago. 100 goals and assists between them.
December 16, 2021 at 8:37 am #2031121Martial hasn’t been the same player since Mourinho came round. He needs a fresh start in either a lower level league or at a club where he’ll play week in – week out. Assuming we keep Cavani till the end of the season Martial should be loaned out to a League 1 club, see if he can regain his mojo
I think Manchester United is too big a club for him -
