    9’s… Kovacic – Good on the ball, tough tackling, cant shoot, cant pass beyond five yards, an assured top quality player, honestly think that.. but would probably be better settled in North London.

    We’re going to have to accommodate the returning Bakayoko… and he’s proper special at passing to the touchline between Chelsea players. Think even during the wretched season he endured with us, Bakayoko’s got more in his locker than Kovacic. There may even be redemption for Drinkwater next year…

    With everything up in the air, its all to play for… over to you back in the studio.

    Well, our best player who carried us is gone, that is one bullet in the head. and our manager will soon follow that is another bullet in the stomach. I wonder who runs this club? we have no plan every season we have uncertainty. and please spare me the thought of appointing Lampard as our next boss! unless we want to finish in the bottom half of the table. also, don’t mention Allegri anywhere near Chelsea. he is another Conte part two. and the last thing I want at Chelsea is the return of those ugly football 30% possession. we should be looking outside the box. this Sarri man was doing some fine job. but the unfortunate had happened to him. and Juventus is a bigger club than Chelsea. so we need to get some attack minded coach. I would rather lose than win with ugly football.

    Since we lost our best player and we are at the mercy of Willian and Giroud for goals and assist. we are at a disadvantaged place. minus Hazard our top scorer is Pedro, our second top Scorer us R. Loftus Cheek. but he is out injured. this team is in serious trouble if our board doesn’t wake up. 21 goals and 15 assists are gone. where shall we be without Hazard? I’m absolutely terrified with the thought of competing against City who has the best coach in the world, Liverpool who has the most prolific front 3, Spurs who has the most prolific CF in the league United and Arsenal who has scored more than we did last season.

    Wise-fan welcome back

    Sure Hazard will be a massive loss but Chelsea have lost their best players before and have survived just fine. Who knows how Pulisic will do? He is 20 years old with loads of room to develop and the same with CHO once he returns from injury. Anyway as you know its very hard to sustain being one of the best teams in the Premier League, it has taken Liverpool a long time to get back to the level they are now, since Benitez left the club in 2010 until last seasons loss in the CL they had had 1 good season under Brendan Rodgers.

    bort, far too many uncertainties to predict anything sensibly currently although I would say whatever happens it’s unlikely we will be competing with City and Liverpool next season.

    Once we know who will take over from Sarri and and whether the transfer ban is to stick or not we will have a clearer picture. And there’s the possible return of Petr Cech as Technical Director or not to be confirmed too.

    Allegedly we’ve made a bid for Guedes at Valencia if that’s true (without we’re planning to leave him at Valencia for a season which is not impossible given we left Pulisic at Dortmund for 6 months.) that might suggest that the Club believe the ban will be suspended at some point this Summer allowing us to do some business?

    If not we’ve got a great opportunity to promote some of our best youngsters and together with bringing back loanees like Zouma etc I don’t think we’ll be far away from a CL place again.

    Unfortunately football is cyclical and you can’t guarantee to win a trophy every season as we have across the last three seasons.

    Hazard is a difficult player to replace but we’ve lost big players previously in Cech, Terry, A.Cole. Lampard and Drogba etc and prospered that’s the challenge for whoever takes over now and there’s still a lot of quality in the squad to work with and as you say the arrival of Pulisic to look forward to too.

    I’m looking forward to the new season already.😊 Cheers 999

    I think we will need to be realistic. We won’t compete against City and Liverpool. That one is sure. We are in a rebuilding process. Réal value Kovacic £50m. With or without transfer ban: I think we should not buy him. Clearly Réal want to recoupt as much as they can after paying us £88m for Hazard. Kovacic is not worth 50m

    50mil for Kovacic?? I’d be absolutely livid if we spent that much on him. He’s a 30mil player, tops.

    If that plus his blocking better young players path, even with all the injuries. You need midfielders with an end product. It’s an essential part of the game today.

    I’m not sure where the £50m figure for Kovacic came from. I know Real need to raise funds but I would be amazed if anyone was prepared to pay £50m for Kovacic. And do we really need him with Yoko and Mount coming back?

    Real Madrid, Kovacic’s parent club, do not help either, slapping a £50m price tag
    </quote>

    So IMO too expensive. Not worth £50m. Better we stick with Bakayoko and Mount. And we also have RLC who will come back from injury somewhere this year. We underutilized Barkley too.

    <quote>
    The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) confirmed to football.london last week that Chelsea had not yet registered an appeal to get the transfer ban frozen this summer, and that continues to be the case.
    </quote>

    Transfer ban still applies. So we’ll have to make do with the players we have at the moment and the loanees who are coming back. Can’t wait to see Zouma, I think he would do well paired with Luiz or Christensen while Rudiger is recovering

    Thank you, first we can’t compare ourselves to Liverpool. since 2015 Liverpool had been gaining ground on us whilst we were losing ground. since that year there was only one fluke Conte first season that we have finished above them. 2015/16 they finished above us, 2017/18 they finished above us. and last season they have finished above us with a massive gap. and I can bet with my life that they will finish above us in 2019/20. so the two teams are incomparable at the minute. one has lost its last source of goals and assist and the other kept their goal scorers and is hopeful of adding further signings and has kept their manager. which is on the contrary to Chelsea who has lost our source of goals and assists, is set to lose our coach and we are banned from signing players until next summer. that is a massive disadvantage.

    Coming back to the team. seriously I can’t see where can improve from our existing players. we have Bakayoko and Morata coming back from their terrible loan spell. and we expect them to replace Hazard. we can just comfort ourselves and lead to believe that our returning players will help. Pulisic couldn’t win a regular place at Dortmund. and even if we can do well, he is joining a new team and isn’t guaranteed to hit the ground running. and you add to the fact that we are considering to appoint Lampard who has had one average season in the Championship. are we looking to go backward?

    Two of our current best players are CHO and R. Loftus Cheek, and there is the likelihood that they will both miss the first half of the season at least. which means our main man at the minute is Pedro. God! I’m afraid to say that, even getting Europa League isn’t guaranteed next season. with Everton and Wolves improving and Chelsea at a disadvantaged place means the ground is level now.

    Wise fan,good to see you back.

    And with some newlyf found positivity too.😊

    I don’t think anyone on the site or for that matter probably any Chelsea fan expect Chelsea to catch City or Liverpool for a while.

    Football goes in cycles as the Liverpool and United fans will tell you 30 years next year since Liverpool won the PL title.

    Personally I think if things go our way in the PL we’ve every chance of competing for a top 4 place and maybe if the draws are kind a domestic Cup. But we’ll see.

    Lots of water to flow under the Bridge before the season starts though.

    Yes Liverpool have gained ground on us and surpassed us but around 12-15 years ago Chelsea gained ground on Liverpool and surpassed them. Sometimes your team will just go to shit for a some years and there is nothing you can do but support the team. It’s just the way it goes and this current Chelsea team isn’t going to improve over the summer due to a transfer ban and unknown manager situation. I would reset your expectations and understand you will probably not get a title challenge for at least 3-5 seasons.

    Manchester United and Arsenal are 2 more going through the same shit.

    Thanks, I admire your optimism there. but I hold contrary to your belief. I really can’t see where the goals will flow from now that Hazard is gone. and we are not allowed to replace him to a player who can at least score goals. our current squad has no enough goals in them to sustain top 6 let alone top 4. only two players in our squad are capable of reaching into double figures, Pedro and R. Loftus Cheek. and so far one of them is likely to miss the first half of next season.

    Also, we have only two players in our squad who can beat defenders. R. Loftus Cheek and CHO, and so far both are out injured and may likely miss preseason and possibly the first half of next season. our defense is still fragile. and Jorginho, although he has improved, will be under real pressure since we no longer have Hazard who most of the teams were scared. basically, it will be terrible if we have fewer clean sheets and fewer goals from our last term. let us wait where things go from here. but I’m a worried man at the minute.

    Time to change shifts I think 999. Break time for me. The clouds are rolling in full of lightning with the noise of thunder.

    My thoughts are that, when he returns from inlury, Hudson-Odoi might have some idea on how to score a goal or two and Abraham and Bats may well score a few too and can be no worse than the mid table strikers in our League. Zouma and Rudiger might well be a handy Central defensive pairing (with Luiz and Christensen challenging) and with Emerson and Dave as backs fairly solid there. The midfield with Kante doing what he does best providing adequate defensive support. The defense, in my opinionand reverting back to the football they know best will almost certainly be stronger than what we had this season just gone.

    Transitions season or maybe even two together with other obstacles should bring expectations down. I think it does for most of us. I’m pretty sure Chelsea Football Club will out survive us mere mortals and entertaining many a football fan long after we are all gone and I have a sneaking suspicion that will be in the Premier League whilst we are owned by Abramovich and any subsequent successor.

    Have a nice break folks. Geez the English weather is doing a number on the Cricket World Cup right now, My evening entertainment is suffering big time day after day.

    Even with probably our greatest ever player Hazard gone (not forgetting Zolas wizardry) I think we have enough class to mount our usual top 4 challenge, however we need to get everyone fit and running as soon as possible esp. RLC and Callum Hudson. Upfront Abraham, Giroud, Bat’s are more than useful, we also have goal scoring midfielders in Pedro, Willian, RLC, Mason, Callum Hudson, there are also brilliant gems that can be gradually introduced like Gilmour and Brown to name just 2. My main worry is at the back, they all either too prone to errors or on the slow side. The new management will also be a concern irrelevant of who it may be.

    I still think our main problem hasn’t changed since Costa left. A goalscorer. Giroud is not one. He was good as he created opportunities for Hazard. But Hazard is gone now. We do have Michy and Abraham. Michy can score, but our midfielders have to feed him. Abraham did very well in the Championship. Hope that he will be able to emulate his success with us, but Premiership is a completely different animal than Championship.

    If Sarri leaves, Kante will be back in his natural position, or we would be able to play 4-2-3-1 with Kanté and Jorginho holding midfielders: we should be ok defensively. Luiz, Rudiger, Zouma, Azpi: they are tough players
