As funny as that would be Sympathy, I’d rather they cancelled international friendlys and the Euro’s if necessary in order to complete the regular season and cup competitions.
March 12, 2020 at 3:18 pm #1834581I don’t think anyone believes Liverpool are going to win only two more games this season if it were to keep going. They deserve to win it, much as it galls me to see the scum get their title.
March 12, 2020 at 6:05 pm #1834640@killyboye – oh they definitely do, not denying them that: but if the season is called off before it ends then the Premier League should TECHNICALLY not give them the title as City would still be in with a mathematical chance of winning the league. And if they just say to keep positions as they are, then they’ll open a big can of worms for the lower divisions which are closer.
March 12, 2020 at 7:59 pm #1834710It’s s tricky one but with UEFA moving the Euro’s to 2021, not sure if that is actually confirmed or just speculation, the season can be postponed rather than cancelled.
March 30, 2020 at 9:18 pm #1837792Apparently Jack Grealish was out drinkng all night then crashed his car coming home at 10am this morning.
Can’t see any other reason for him to ditch his car and walk home before police arrive.
Imagine he was a United player the scrutiny he’d be underMarch 31, 2020 at 8:28 am #1837802Not the first time he’s done that either. Plus he’s a turncoat little weasel so I’d hate to see him or that toad Declan rice in a United shirt.
March 31, 2020 at 12:44 pm #1837867They’re both average. Not the standard we should be looking at.
March 31, 2020 at 1:32 pm #1837874I’ve been laughed at for saying this before but happy to repeat it (and it’s probably more relevant now that we have signed Bruno): John McGinn is the Villa player we should be looking at. May not become world class but comfortably better than Pereira, Lingard and even Matic despite his mini revival of late
March 31, 2020 at 7:51 pm #1837968Yeah I like McGinn a lot actually. Not sure he’s any better than Fred though?
We need to strengthen in our areas of weakness. Right now that’s a right sided forward and someone to bang in 30 goals a season (Harry Kane)April 1, 2020 at 4:24 am #1838016Bellingham, Sancho and Kane would be a decent start to the window 😉
April 1, 2020 at 11:37 am #1838088Agreed Homerjay540 – throw in Davies for LB and we’ve got a top level team right there.
April 1, 2020 at 1:44 pm #1838124Unfortunately there’s now way Bayern will sell Davies. He has made that LB position his own pushing Alaba into the middle.
Considering Bayern were happy to pay €80 million for Lucas Hernandez they won’t sell Davies for anything less than that.
If anything possibly Alaba will move but if he comes to England I reckon he’d want to link up with Guardiola againApril 2, 2020 at 11:01 am #1838291Luke Shaw has been in very good form and looks like Williams is pushing him on so think we’re ok there for now.
Sancho is the main one really. Anything else is a bonus.April 2, 2020 at 2:18 pm #1838361Shaw isn’t good enough for a Top Club – offensively he’s dire compared to Robertson as an example. Davies will be tough but if we throw 60m at them then I think they’ll buckle, considering the crazy profit they’ll make and the fact that they have players for that position.
Think this summer the club should take advantage of a lot of uncertainty in the football world and bring in as many big names that they can. Sancho, Kane/Haaland, Bellington and a bonus of Davies would be superb. Imagine if we nabbed De Ligt from Juventus too considering their financial issues?!
De Gea
AWB – De Ligt – Maguire – Davies
Fred – Pogba
Sancho – Bruno Fernandes – Rashford
HaalandMartial, Greenwood, James, McTominay, Shaw, Williams in reserve… now that’s a team I’d enjoy watching week in week out!
April 2, 2020 at 10:39 pm #1838424@sympathy, I agree, this summer is a massive chance for us to flex our muscles but I reckon the cost of those signings would be:de Ligt 90M, Davies 110M, Sancho 110M and Haaland 75M release clause totalling almost 400 million.
There is no way Bayern will allow Davies leave on the cheap. As I said above last summer they paid the 80M release clause for Lucas Hernandes! And this season Davies has made the LB position his own, shifting Alaba one of the best LB’s around into CB. If anything Alaba may be sold but only if Bayern choose.
As for de Ligt. Quality player that will become world class but Maguire is obviously no.1 and de Ligt doesn’t have the pace to complement Maguire. I was hoping Tuanzebe would establish himself this season but injury hasn’t helped.
As for Pogba. Fuck him. Apart from the fact that he doesn’t have the disclipline to play CM, he and his agents don’t give two fucks about the club. They and Lingard can all do one this summer.
As for Haaland, he had the chance to join us this summer. That and if course Raiola being his agent means we can forget about him.
Agree about Sancho though. Quality player who’ll only get betterApril 3, 2020 at 11:09 am #1838480Why not buy Alaba then? He is good in LB,CB and DMF its a no brainer.
April 3, 2020 at 11:49 am #1838493Alaba would be amazing!!
April 3, 2020 at 1:19 pm #1838512Can’t see us bringing in more than 3-4 players.
I think we will try and do a deal for Ighalo.
Sancho is the big transfer the club want and then it might be a CB and / or a CM (depending on Pogba).
If we can get rid of Pogba then that will be the fourth player in, otherwise it will likely be three.
The summer will be manic with some countries trying to finish leagues, CL and El trying to finish and then other leagues wanting to start on time in Aug / Sept etc. A lot of clubs will need the funds but others will not be able to sell as they are still competing. It will be really tough to bring players in unless the clubs decide to void the leagues and start again after the summer, but the longer that decision isn’t made the harder it will be to make transfers.
April 3, 2020 at 1:34 pm #1838515If we can offload Shaw, Alaba would be an upgrade at LB.
Not sure he’s got the height to play CB in the Prem. He’s just under 6 foot and apparently wins less than 50% of aerial duels. I know Rojo and Lindelof are rubbish in the air too but that doesn’t excuse replacing them with somebody equally bad in the air.
Unfortunately if he does leave Bayern (which I’d doubt) I think it’ll be to link up again with Guardiola at CityApril 3, 2020 at 8:02 pm #1838562@Alfie, I also think United want Sancho to be our marquee signing. He is the perfect profile.
Realistically I don’t think the money men will release the kind of money needed for a 28 year old Kane. If he was available for anything near 100 million I think we’d make a move but knowing Daniel Levy we could spend the while summer negotiating and end up nowhere.
If we can get Ighalo for 15m I reckon we’ll go for it – a nice, easy, clean negotiation/ transfer which won’t break the bank and (if we get Sancho) our front 4 should be covered for years to come.
Fingers crossed we manage to punt Jones, Pogba, Lingard and Sanchez this summer -
