Redblood’s been talking bollocks for days now Blacky mate. He still rates nathan clyne…
February 24, 2020 at 4:19 pm #1829308I dont rate Clyne and I rate Shaw even less. But even if Sanchez is on fiver a week its too much,he has been an utter disaster. But lets wait & see what happens with Pogba,he could turn out to be the worst signing in the history of the club, dont you think?
February 24, 2020 at 5:28 pm #1829320No.
February 24, 2020 at 8:50 pm #1829357I wouldn’t class Pogba as our worst signing but he’s probably the most ill-thought one. Did anyone seriously expect a different outcome than the one we are seeing? I, for one, found it pretty easy to predict how his career would develop when he originally left. OK, I didn’t think he’d return but a few years at one club, another few at another – only showing glimpses of quality while needing to be carried by better professionals to actually win something (both at Juve and with France – even in his first year back at United with Zlatan). He doesn’t have that luxury at United which is why he has crawled into his shell and putting on this entire show.
For the record, I don’t view Pogba as a bad person; he’s just an ill-informed boy who likes attention but it would be to his benefit to discover what a hindrance to his career Raiola is. Had he given his all, no one would have begrudged him wanting to win trophies at a club in a better state than United. Everyone wants to win trophies but Pogba is yet to prove that he can be the catalyst in a successful team.
He’s certainly not our worst signing ever but he, more than anyone, embodies everything that’s wrong in the way this club has been ran. He was supposed to be “the chosen one” but, now, his chance to chose his next club seems to have gone. Is there anyone who’d touch him with a 10 foot pole following years of selfish antics andproblems, both on and off the field?
February 26, 2020 at 7:10 am #1829800I think we should just give Arsenal £80m or whatever they want for Aubamayang in the summer. He’s absolutely tailor made for what we need right now. A striker at the top of his game who will get us 30 goals a season, but one who only has a couple of years left at the top level. So the impact on Greenwood’s development will only be positive. It will bring Martial and Rashford to a new level as well.
He could have a similar impact as RVP did.
February 26, 2020 at 8:28 am #1829819@happy – You can forget the notion that the gimps would sanction buying a 31 yr old for 80m, or anything close to that figure. It just ain’t going to happen, plus I doubt very much that he would see us as much of an upgrade on Arsenal anyway, simple as that.
February 26, 2020 at 9:29 am #1829828True. He’d be great for us though wouldn’t he? But he’ll probably be off to Barcelona or somewhere. Last year of his contract so arsenal need to cash in – maybe he’s go for cheaper…
February 26, 2020 at 9:42 am #1829836I’m sure he will go for cheaper if he doesn’t renew his contract, but he won’t be rocking up at OT either way.
February 26, 2020 at 10:06 am #1829844I’d prefer investing in someone like Dembele or waiting for Haaland’s release clause than invest in Aubameyang for 80m. His mentality reminds me too much of Sanchez.
February 26, 2020 at 11:12 am #1829883If we signed Aubameyang you can guarantee that his physical capabilities would diminish the second he signed the contract and we’d be left with a burnt out, broken and overpaid player again!
February 26, 2020 at 2:09 pm #1829982Hooked – We would definitely, but it would take a year or so like it did for RVP to disintegrate. Imagine the impact of Aubamayang and Fernandes together next season with a proper midfield destroyer in there as well.
Game changer.February 26, 2020 at 3:28 pm #1830021Auba isn’t the answer. I’ll be very disappointed if we sign him. The potential transfer fee and wages make it a crazy transfer. If we have to sign an older striker I’d rather we went for someone like Cavani, who at least would be free.
I think our targets for the summer are Grealish, Sancho and a striker. This assumes that Grealish has the reported £45m release clause, Sancho for £100m or so and a cheap back up striker with whatever cash, buttons, lint and sweet wrappers we can find in down the back of the club sofa.
February 27, 2020 at 3:03 pm #1830276Auba is too old now to be a realistic transfer target especially given the fee Arsenal would demand for him. We’d have to pay a premium and it’s not worth it to be honest. He’s a quality player but I’d avoid. I’d be breaking the bank to sign Werner ahead of Liverpool. He’s young, strong, fast, hard working, he’d be a bonus to any team. Plus he could play anywhere across a front three which means he could play with Rashford and Martial without any difficulty at all and their ability to switch at will would cause havok for defences. It’s looking like he wants to go to Liverpuddle but I’d be looking to hijack that deal if at all possible.
February 27, 2020 at 7:35 pm #1830344If we play 433 next season, where would Grealish fit in?
Assuming Pogba goes, I assume we would have a midfield 3 comprising of a stopper (McT or better), a box-to-box (Fred or better) and an attacking midfielder (Fernandes).
Would it be as part of a front 3 – alongside Rashford and Martial?
Sancho will definitely not be bought unless Pogba goes. No chance we are spending big.
February 27, 2020 at 7:47 pm #1830352No chance we are spending big? How come?
February 27, 2020 at 7:53 pm #1830354Nobody plays 4-3-3 mate. 4-2-3-1. Four at the back, two patrolling, three on the move and interchanging and a striker.
February 28, 2020 at 7:59 am #1830474I’d argue that City or Liverpool don’t play with two patrolling midfielders. They have one defensive midfielder (Fabinho / Rodri) and then two 8’s in front of them (Wijnaldum and Henderson / Silva and De Bruyne). At least that’s how City played when they were really good last season.
Two patrolling midfielders puts too much emphasis on defence, especially against the smaller clubs. Attack, attack, attack!
February 28, 2020 at 9:32 am #1830491Of course one of the problems with this little purple patch we’re having is – it might make them think we don’t need at least 3 world class players in the summer.
I can already see a midfield of Fernandes, Fred and Mctominay. Matic, Lingard, Pereira and Mata as cover. Assuming Pogba leaves that is. If he stays I actually can’t now see us signing a CM.
If Ighalo can score another few goals I think he’ll be signed permanently. So Rashford, Martial, Greenwood and Ighalo. Do you think they’d then go and sign another striker? No.
I’d say the only position that seems certain we’ll strengthen is that Right wing/Sancho position! Let’s just pray none of Mata, Lingard or Chong hit any kind of form between now and the end of the season!!
February 28, 2020 at 12:25 pm #1830557I don’t think our purple patch is papering over any of the cracks. I don’t think that Ole is under any illusions regarding the quality in the team. Whether Woodturd and the Glazers have illusions is another matter altogether.
March 5, 2020 at 1:54 pm #1832420Bellingham (loaned back to Birmingham for the season), Grealish and Kane would be a decent start to the transfer window 😉
