Well that rules us out then uww.April 17, 2019 at 7:37 am #1743309
Major major major problem. I always said midfield was the biggest problem, although up front isn’t far behind. Well if Pogba goes and clearly Matic, Herrera, Pereira and, let’s face it, McTominay just aren’t good enough, we need a whole new midfield. And that’s me giving Fred the benefit of the doubt which will probably come back to haunt me. And you know what? We’ll probably bring in one midfielder in the summer because this lot that run the club, including Solskjaer, actually think that list of players above are good enough. Frightening! We’re fucked.April 17, 2019 at 7:49 am #1743314
“One or two additions in the summer” Ole said. Good luck with that!
Problem is we have no proper striker,no right winger,no proper cmf players,no proper cb,no proper fullbacks,no proper owners,no DoF. And the so called worldclass players we have have no mentality to play the game of football. Good Luck Ole!April 17, 2019 at 7:50 am #1743315
We have to look at Ajax and copy that organisation. We have a disneyland football club and the players are wearing donkeysuits!April 17, 2019 at 8:53 am #1743345
Every talent at Ajax, and there are number (what a talent Ziyech is and De Ligt is a monster), will be stripped away by the big clubs in Europe just like Monaco was. And just like Monaco, we’ll get none of em. We’ll still be pondering a move for Gareth fucking Bale.April 17, 2019 at 8:58 am #1743350
Haha, too true JM.
Complete absence of footballing vision at the club.April 17, 2019 at 10:38 am #1743390
Scholes-I m not against signing senior players if they can propel us to title-winning level.Just that I would be wary of paying £150m for a player who is 28.April 17, 2019 at 10:46 am #1743395
Interesting point you make about Monaco JM. Its also true of this Ajax team. And to a certain extent Liverpool. When you look at the team as a unit its clear they are far more effective than the sum of the parts. No doubt some of the Ajax team will go on to be top class players, just like some of that Monaco team have. But by no stretch of the imagination is either a team of worldies 1 to 11. A lot of the players in those teams would not be at the same level in other teams or systems.
For me that is clearly where we have gone wrong post Fergie. Trying to sign players based on name or reputation rather than the system or what complements other players in the team. Thinking Arab oil money is the only solution is fucking daft for me. Its more important to put structure around the club and a proper vision. This mess is going to take years to fix but it has to start somewhere. Just giving different managers 200 or 300 million every couple of years only creates a team full of misfits and mercenaries.April 17, 2019 at 11:00 am #1743405
Spot on mate, just throwing money into the pit will never solve the problem! We need a long-term plan,a vision. We have to forget the quick fix and focus instead of building a system that will benefit the club long-term.If DDG & Pogba want to go,so be it-nobody is bigget than the club! Thinking/dreaming that we will win the title in 2 years is fantasy, simples! Deadwood have to be let go:Jones,Smalling,Young,Valencia,Bailly,Mata,Herrera,Matic,Sanchez,Lukaku,Darmian,Lindelof,Lingard, but it wont happen in one window, unfortunately for us.Short-term we are going nowhere!April 17, 2019 at 11:07 am #1743412
Agree N1xer, but Arab money speeds the process up mate. City have bought and sold several squads worth’s before finally getting it right. I say again though, we’ve got to buy players who are mobile and flexible enough to play forward or back and who are comfortable in possession. City, like Barca, flood the middle of the park and dominate midfield. Even Messi’s starting position is midfield. 4-3-3 is a joke system.April 17, 2019 at 11:09 am #1743414
Sympathy for the DevilsParticipant
What is taking upper management so long to introduce a Director of Football? We need to get one in ASAP so that they can start working on the team for next season; can’t afford to bring them in during the summer transfer window as it will be already too late for them to do their job in that window!
It’s incredible how bad management are at handling such a high revenue-generating business; reminds me of Activision’s handling of Blizzard Entertainment.April 17, 2019 at 11:12 am #1743416
Success built on Arab oil money just wouldn’t feel the same for me mate. I guess everyone has a different point of view on it. Agree about the profile of player definitely. We’re powder puff in the challenge and seem to lack stamina. McTominay is getting rave reviews when he offers not much more than mobility and tenacity.
Would defo fancy Ndombele in the middle next year. What you make of Rice? Think he would improve our midfield?April 17, 2019 at 11:22 am #1743426
You don’t need to spend big to improve the current team. I would for next year get the following players:
Wan bissaka/ meunier
And two big names in our 3 man attack. Guys who change games and can take on players. Obviously get rid of few of the current attackers
Promote angel gomes in the 3 man midfield looks very intelligent and comfortable on the ball rather than your usual headless chickensApril 17, 2019 at 11:28 am #1743429
The club is rotten to the core top to bottom. Mourinho got sacked deservedly but he was spot on about the players and the structure at the club. Ole is a yes man, because if he wasn’t then phil fucking jones and trashley young would not get contract extensions! He sais “one or two additions”?? WTF just proves hes a yes man and hes forced to work with this shite. The club is finished for a long time, we wont make top 4 as I cannot see us beating Everton, Man City and Chelsea and then I could predict what will happen in the summer… Pogba, de Gea and herrera gone, we wont get a DOF, we wont sign koulibaly for 80m instead woody will go for cheaper option in Alderweirald or Manolas, we wont sign the players we want, Lingard will still be in the starting 11 next season along with young, jones and smalling. We are officially the new Liverpool, let that sink in people and stop dreaming. We will have to put up with man city and liverpool domination unless the board fuck off or sack that inept dick ed woodward but we all know that ain’t happening!April 17, 2019 at 12:21 pm #1743440
Oles excuses are piling up!
Why does he need to spend?
“Football is easy when you have players this good”
“I’m happy with this squad”
“I can’t wait for the window to close to focus on improving the special players at the club”
Those special players are showing you the way!April 17, 2019 at 2:19 pm #1743475
I’d take both Rice and Ndombele N1xer as holding / box to box type midfielders, plus a super quick genuine wide midfielder and a playmaker out of the Xavi mould. If Pogba stays, he gets a free role and that’s your 5 across the middle. One 20 a season man up front with genuine pace, and that’s not any of Martial, Rashford or Lukaku for me I’m afraid. In fact, talk of Barca bidding 100 mill for Rashford – i’d drive him over there myself. And if it sounds like I’m obsessed with midfield, it’s because I am. By the way, did you notice Jordi Alba last night? Got up and down more in one night than fat Luke does in a season. Desire!April 17, 2019 at 3:25 pm #1743486
It seems to me that the arabs have put a pretty good structure in place at the Etihad as well as spending shitloads. We just spend shitloads on players based on their commercial value. All this talk about re-building does my head in, we’ve been re-building for 5 years and are worse now than when we started. Well done to the Glazers and Wudturd for turning a once great football club into a comedy show.April 17, 2019 at 6:35 pm #1743509
At least every paper and every site covering the club today is united on the following:
– We are miles behind on player quality
– At least 5 first team players are required
– At least 8 must be shown the door
– Ed Woodward has mismanaged all footballing decisions for 6 seasons
Esteemed commentators, brilliany journalists, students of the game, ex players, ex managers are all AGREED on the above.
Every cloud and all that, there has definitely been some sort of catarsis after last nite.
Nobody is buying the bullshit spin anymore.
I hope City fucking bury us too as anything else will be letting Ed Cuntward of the hook….April 17, 2019 at 8:13 pm #1743536
Come on spurs !!!April 17, 2019 at 8:22 pm #1743546
