Rabiot seems to have off field issues at PSG. If he can get over them then he could be a class signing. Would need to get his head down and work hard, but the talent is there.

Kostas Manolas being linked again. Apparently he has a £30m release clause. Slightly more expensive then Toby, and without the PL experience but a couple of years younger for those who are worried about Toby’s age.

If we get two bargains then that frees up money elsewhere.

If we get a RB, would like one who is really good and around 28, not far from the tail end of his career. This way Dalot can be his understudy and eventually replace.

“Class of 92? They’re on TV complaining all the time because they’re not active in the club. If you want to work in the club, go search for work in the club. So you can’t be on TV always complaining and criticising. You’ve had your time, we know it.” – Zlatan Ibrahimović.

Moyes and LVG may not have done great jobs, but the class of 92 were always lingering around like sly rats for some reason.

If we sign a RB I’d like to bring in Wan Bissaka. Bags of talent, loads of potential and a dogged defender. PL experience. Also would be a young signing which would focus Dalot’s mind too. If we bring another RB in we either need to go very short term (one year) – which I can’t really see the point of as Dalot will either be good enough or won’t be good enough and we’ll be back to square one next year, or we just bring in the best available. We should start being more ruthless and bring in players to improve on what we have. Start with the key areas and go from there.

RW is going to be interesting. Sancho being touted, but he looks more of a LW and I can’t see Martial moving over to the right – as we have tried that when we signed Sanchez.

any thing ive seen definatly show Sancho as main position RW forward….”other position” LW ….so id say more RW and when needed to cver or mix up you can have him on the LW and mix things up or even try a “fluid” front 3…..

dont think you will get him though

Cheers Steveo, No, I don’t think we will get him either. I think Dortmund will refuse all offers for him. Also, from his perspective it might be better to stay at Dortmund for at least another year.

We certainly need a RW though and if we spend big on that position this summer (assuming the signing works – unlike Sanchez) the position could well be filled for the foreseeable future.

That’s just it, not really sure if anyone stands out.

Bale would be good, if price is right. Which is unlikely.

Joao Felix is a huge gamble (and I’m sure is more of a LW!!)

Steven Bergwijn of PSV is being touted, but not convinced by him.

I’m sure there are loads of potential signings for the RW, but I don’t follow European football so they will mainly be a gamble to me. I’m sure he club is looking into that and they will have a plan – but I thought that last summer too and that didn’t turn out well!!

Lots of young wingers with potential out there. Of the top of my head (and with a quick transfermarkt search) I’d get the scouts to do a job on the following players and see what they come back with:
Sessegnon (definately left sided but quality young English player), Lozano, Ziyech, Neres, Bergwijn, Leon Bailey, Chiesa, Under, Kluivert, Guedes
Some are left wingers but at young age should be able to swap over. None would be automatic first choice wingers but whoever the scouts say is best should hopefully be able to push Lingard in their first season and make that position their own going forward

I’d stay away from Bale – quality player but too old, too injury prone and too high wages – look at what Sanchez’s wages have done to recent contract renewals

Sancho is the one we need – young Englishman who has spent time in Manchester and would join us for not only the money. We could sign him for a decent fee and at 18 has loads of time to develop and for us to get our moneys worth.

Not sure about Rabiot to be honest, good footballer but seems not to be in the right headspace. I don’t think he accepts the ‘no player is bigger than the club’ ideology that we seem to expound in Man Utd. I think so many big clubs are pulling out because he’s seen as a problem in the backroom, sorry no pics. I think there’s better out there and I wouldn’t be getting him just because he’s available on the cheap/

Id take H.Herrera of FC.Porto on a Bosman free, and if Matic/A.Herrera are moved on,pay for someone like SMS/Ndombele/Doucoure,with MCT being given more game time.I agree about JD-what a talent! As for other wingers, names like N.Pepe,I.Sarr,L.Bailey,J.Felix,D.Costa,F.Chiesa, are being mentioned! As long as we stay away from Bale & Griezmann….

This David Brooks guy having a stormer for Wales. Imagine him, Sancho and Koulibaly in the summer. Throw in Wan Bissaka as well and we’d have a very good side.

Brooks is exactly the kind of young player we’d have been all over (sorry, no pics) ten years ago. Club seriously needs to get a DoF in soon to sort this shit out.

How can a football club who calls itself the biggest in the world still not have a permanent manager or a DOF? How can you give Mourinho, Smalling, Jones etc new deals but struggle with De Gea, Herrera etc? Absolutely amateurish. Ole Think twice before you work for these parasites ,who are more interested in pot noodle sponsors!

That’s a load of bollix Zico. Magnier and McManus would have sold out to he highest bidder eventually regardless of that nonsense over the horse. Any one who has worked around corporate finance will tell you the biggest issue was the articles of association of the club. There were no mechanisms to defend against a take over (especially a highly leveraged one like the Glazers). Gill and Watkins should take the brunt of the blame. But it would have happened anyway eventually. The price of the success of the PL is that most clubs are now under foreign ownership.

@n1xer – to say M&M would have sold to the highest bidder “eventually” is like saying Glazer will eventually. At the time football was on the cusp of a massive explosion in popularity, revenue & commercial opportunity. We know this now by looking back at the increase in TV and sponsorship deal. Glazers knew this, which is a reason they wanted to buy. Could not M&M have known it also. If it was a lucrative business for the Glazers why would it be any the less lucrative for M&M especially given the Glazers had to borrow whereas M&M would only have to sit tight.

We don’t know either way but it is remarkable coincidence M&M should decide to cash in when they did.
