The Longstaff deal is most likely being held up by the fact they have no manger. I’d assume being a local lad he’d like to stay at Newcastle if he believes in the manager and ‘project’. Once Bruce is appointed he’ll be crawling over broken glass to get away…

Leicester seem to have spent a few quid in the transfer market, £70/80m, another couple of signings for them and the amount they’ll accept for Maguire will crystallise – replacement cost + budget shortfall.

SMS seems to be a replacement for Pogba if/when he goes.

Wish we’d get one of the deals for a midfielder over the line. Entering the season without a new CM is currently more terrifying than entering it with our current CB’s!

SMS/Donny & Milenkovic/Diaz should be snapped up as soon as possible, imho. If we get anything over the money we paid for Lindelof and he should be sold, like any other player currently playing for United, not including DDG. Shocked we havent been linked with D.Neres of Ajax-what a gem of a player!

hooked – I was reading yesterday that Newcastle has refused to sell Longstaff for any amount of money. Which seems a tad strange, if true, but I cannot believe will be any great loss for us. If true we should just move on.

Agree on SMS only coming in if Pogba leaves.

Fernandes’ agent is apparently in the country sorting out that deal (and has been for a week if reports are true! – so no idea what is happening there, but I would guess it’s minor issues being sorted out).

Pogba and Lukaku sum up a lot of the things that are wrong with football and indeed society today. Pogba thinks he’s entitled to win trophies and Lukaku thinks he’s entitled to a place in the starting XI but neither are willing to work for it. Pogba wants a join a team where he’s guaranteed to win trophies without putting much effort in himself because he’s all about the flashy stuff on social media while letting others do the hard work.

As for Lukaku, he’s nowhere near as good as he thinks he is or his transfer fee suggests and continues to struggle against better opposition. Squad players like Chicharito and indeed Ole Gunnar Solskjær were a great asset because the chipped in with valuable goals and didn’t kick up a fuss when they were on the bench. Obviously, every player wants to start but there are those who are willing to work for it and those who can’t work out why they might not. Lukaku could be an asset, especially as there are so many other pressing issues throughout the squad, but his attitude means that we should just take the money and run.

Arsenal and Chelsea seem to be in a worse place than us, that’s the only relief, as for us we are still crawling instead of finishing up business before the league starts, i hear Bruno and SmS seem to be an almost done deal which in a way seems to be a good buy but why are we ignoring the CB position, without a leader we won’t go anywhere close next season, we need a strong experienced 27+ year old CB to sort out the mess in our defence and no, Maguire is nowhere close. In an ideal world maybe a fit mature Bailly could solve our issues but can we really trust him to have a good season?

Bailly is like Smalling, seemingly rock solid for a period of games and then has a complete brain fart allowing a goal or gets himself sent off. Reliably unreliable, excuse the oxymoron.

Bailly is the one I’m most disappointed in, as he was the one who looked most like succeeding. He got off to a great start where he showed all of the attributes and then he got injured and has been hit and miss ever since. Reliably unreliable is the perfect summation, Killy.

If its true that Mata rejected a massive offer form a team in China worth £400k p/w,well done to him.

Yeah agree on Bailly. Fast, strong, tough tackler, tenacious. But absolutely no brain whatsoever!
The goal he allowed to happen against Newcastle was a level below amateur. He was hauled off a few minutes later and we came back to win. Unfortunately we’re a far better team when he’s not in it, it seems!

Bailly also seems to be constructed of balsa wood and glass, which isn’t great for a CB!

When he first signed, I thought he was going to be superb. Seems he was playing above his average. Think last season he struggled and was below his average. Once fully fit I expect his ‘average’ performance won’t be good enough for us, which is a shame. As happy says he’s got some great attributes but absolutely no footballing brain!

Jeez (if true) Newcastle want 50m for Longstaff. Its good in a way because it means no need to waste time. But apparently, their valuation is in part based on the AWB transfer. Leicester sees the Van Dijk transfer as benchmark to be surpasssed.

But I guess we are doing the same, our valuation of Pogba has increased to 180m I read. That means he isn’t going this summer and it remains to be seen how that will affect his mood and performance.

Getting annoyed with the number of signings so far, how many more do you think we will sign?

Pereira has reportedly told Pogba he needs to lead by example this season. I’d rather take £120m and lose him than keep him as captain. Juve have also apparently agreed a £67m fee with Ajax for de Ligt.

De Ligt transfer has dragged on and on, hasn’t it?

Scholesy – two more in I think. A CB and a CM.

Need 2 cm’s or we are screwed!

    #1766007

if w don’t get a central midfielder in at the very very least – we’re going to be in trouble.

In reality we need a CB, CM and RW to really be ready for the upcoming season (and those are to just make Top Four).

James, Lingard, Mata, there won’t be a RW signed unless perhaps Sanchez leaves.

hooked-By screwed you mean we will finish 6th,again?
killy-We should just take the money we paid for the virus and be done with it.Same about Lukaku,he is nowhere near worth the £80m the club apparently is asking.

Strange comments from Solskjaer after the game when asked about new signings. Told the journalists to ask Ed and said that time is limited now!! He didn’t seem to have a positive demeanour at all. Really hope Ed is not fucking about haggling over fees. I understand taking an approach like that in different more successful times but we are desperate and need in’s and out’s done asap so we can focus on the coming season. Really frustrating. Whats the point in getting a player in 2 weeks before the season starts??
