@happyhurling – I see you have come to terms with your reservations about Ole and are now behind him. I’m sure him saying things like this win you over ….. “I would rather be an optimist and be wrong than a pessimist and be right. “
He also said ..
Building a team or rebuilding a squad takes time. I am not going to ask for too much time because as manager you’re also under pressure straightaway, maybe not for results but the way we want to play football. I hope with the way we approach games, the fans will see what we’re trying to do and the results will come.
This is what I’ve been trying to tell you for years about what progress is and the way forward. First you build the team, the style and if you do it right then the results will come as a consequence. You have argued the opposite, focus on results however they may come and then afterwards turn attention to style.
July 17, 2019 at 6:58 am #1766696Still no Maguire despite Alfie’s post announcing Maguire was having his medical. Perhaps he’ll still sign and it was just a premature ejaculation from Alfie.
Second rate effort from the site troll. Things must be lonely for him. Again.
July 17, 2019 at 7:02 am #1766697This is from the TT article about Fred being loaned …..
However, with long-term doubts over the future of Matic in particular, Solskjaer believes a loan move only would be the best option at this stage for Fred, with the 26-year-old still hoping for a route back into the side in the years ahead, and the club not at this stage, prepared to make a major loss on their investment.
So Solskaer has doubts about Matic making it through the season. In that case why don’t we offload him now. In the good old days we moved players on when they started to go downhill, nowadays we wait till they reach the bottom of the hill!
The comment about the club not wanting to make a major loss is telling. That’s a case of commercial interest coming before footballing interests. If he stays on the books but doesn’t play because he’s out on loan then there is no loss on paper. But if we sell at a loss then there is a loss recorded in the accounts.
July 17, 2019 at 7:05 am #1766698Mac – I was always behind him, I loved Ole as a player and hoped he would do a good job. My questions were around his credentials for the job. He’s proven he can get the team playing at a good level, now he needs to do it over a season. It’s a big one for him coming up.
That said I’m really looking forward to seeing you “happy to take style over results” in the coming season. So I won’t see any moaning from you when we drop points? Perfect!
July 17, 2019 at 7:11 am #1766700@Alfie – Given your views on how you can’t believe anything that’s in the press, it was surprising you of all people should choose to rush to post the “breaking news” that he’d signed based solely on tabloid media reports.
Alfie. we all read the media so no need to inform the forum with the headlines from the sports media or give us the team line ups before games, unless it is in relation to a comment you are making.
July 17, 2019 at 7:23 am #1766706@happyhurling – I won’t make a big deal out of it, but that to me is a contradiction. You were always behind him (ie his appointment) but had reservations about his credentials. Sounds like something less than full support to me.
And happy, you really have to start getting your facts right if you want to pull me up over my post history. I really belief in your mind your mind you create a pidgeon hole for fans who do not subscribe to your views and then tar them all with the same brush.
I have NEVER complained about results. In fact the opposite, I have always said the result doesn’t matter. (you recall the results v performance debate not to mention the progress one). Fact is, in most case the bad result came as a result of a bad performance and that’s what I complained about.
And if you recall, we had arguments when we had good results and I argued the result did not reflect performance. For you the two words are synontymous!

Deary me mac, third rate trolling. Not a great troll day for you, is it? I never said he signed, I said that the papers said there was a medical booked for him and that I’d only believe it when I saw it – that last sentence was part of my drive to be more inclusive with my language, so even the site clown could understand what was being said. The fact that the medical turned out to be false shows that my caveat was rather wise. Only a fool believes all they read in the papers.
Alfie. we all read the media so no need to inform the forum with the headlines from the sports media or give us the team line ups before games, unless it is in relation to a comment you are making.
You sound more like a dictator every day! You are not a moderator, and your profile on here is often one of a clown, so please don’t tell anyone how to act or behave. In fact if I were to take TT posting etiquette from any poster, you’d be the last in the queue. You are clearly very lonely today and feel the need for attention from those who you have never met, but I won’t respond to any further – exceedingly poor – attempts to troll from you. Just bore off.
July 17, 2019 at 8:34 am #1766723Alfie – I know what you said, fact remains, you think everything in the media is bullshit yet post a link to a media report you yourself did not have faith in. Why post it then?
Yes you can and often do post any bullshit you want, I’m not fool enough to think I can stop you but I can point out hypocricy and idiocy.
I’m not the wannabe moderator, we all know who that is. In fact, I think you are also wannabe editor rushing to break the news to the forum about team line ups, injuries or what’s in the papers. Fair enough though, I’ll just post a sarcastic one liner anytime you tell us anything anybody with an internet connection already knows.
July 17, 2019 at 11:01 am #1766782Actually chaps,it was me who posted the link from the talksport I believe,so my apologies for causing all that/this misunderstanding.
July 17, 2019 at 11:04 am #1766787Come on Alfie, dont be silly,I wouldnt be lonely with all them shemales and ladyboys of Bangkok, hehehe!
July 17, 2019 at 11:09 am #1766788Back from vacation and have followed but not been able to post in here.
Mac,as always, you come clean in your arguments against the usual premature ejacultaors, they need a tissue not you.
Roy,great posts from you about the true state of our team.
Even Happy believes you but if i have posted the same he would ridicule me.Sad to read that Ole´s chopping plans are halted and changed to give Fred,Mata,Sanchez and their likes new chances but there are surely financial reasons for this.
Hope to see some cmf players coming in and CB but the one i really wants to joins us is Nicolas Pepe. He will become one of the very best players in the world and costs the same as Lukaku. Its a bargain!
July 17, 2019 at 12:33 pm #1766828Zico – when’s your next holiday pal? 😉😩
July 17, 2019 at 1:30 pm #1766853Redblood – no need to apologise. Mac is always lurking for an opportunity to troll me. The fact the hypocrite ignored your post whilst trolling me in the name of ‘hypocricy’ only makes it funnier.
July 17, 2019 at 1:32 pm #1766854Maybe October but save your tissues for your premature ejaculations pal =)
July 17, 2019 at 2:23 pm #1766873Alfie-But I rushed with the link,so my fault entirely.Tbh I want to be the one taking the fault because I dont want us to pay anything over £50m for Maguire, but even then only if it leads to Rojo and Jones being sold so we can get some money back.If Fred & Sanchez can get the 2nd chance, why cant Bailly? So Lindelof & Bailly our 1st choice pairing in defence, with Smalling & a youngster as a back-up,which frees Jones & Rojo for transfer.
July 19, 2019 at 9:19 am #1767306It’s getting to the point now where we should be adding players that we are intending to add. No point fucking about with fee’s a few weeks before the season starts. Time to pay the extra £5m or £10m premium and get the team set up for the new season. You can’t blame other teams for holding out for top fees as we are doing the same with Pogba and Lukaku. When you are in the situation we are in and needing certain players for critical positions then you have to pay over the odds sometimes. If we were in the same position as City then we could afford to play hardball and walk away from deals but we’re not. If Woodward and the Glazers are serious about getting us back to the top then we need to start spending to get business done. As things currently stand, we have spent around £130m in the last 3 transfer windows. Not exactly massive money for a club like ours. Also, why haven’t they been shifting the deadwood quicker. Darmian, Rojo and Jones should be long gone. Regardless of how this window ends, I find how we do business to be strange to say the least
July 19, 2019 at 9:31 am #1767312Agreed N1xer. Time to sign them up or move on to the back up plans.
I have lost count at the number of times the papers report that Fernandes’ agent has flown in to seal the deal. Maguire is proving to be equally tedious. If we won’t pay the fee, and Leicester won’t budge then just move on.
July 19, 2019 at 9:39 am #1767313whats a bit odd is the fact you lot seem to want to pay hardball with how much you get for players (lukaku and Pogba) both of whom i think are overpriced …but then you offer way less than selling clubs want for players (or what they are actually worth) you cant have it both ways!
July 19, 2019 at 10:10 am #1767322N!xer – I agree we should getting a move on. Although having said that, if we’re not going to get the signings in time for pre-season does it matter if they don’t come until the window closes?
I’d really love to know how far apart we are in valuations but we have no way of knowing.
I don’t think the club thinks it needs “certain” players. It wants a player for certain positions but seems to be still shopping around and doesn’t care if it gets player A or player B. It’s the price not the player that seems to be the objective.
And I’m not sure the club sees any great need to sign new players. The club has shown no eagerness to sell any players, be it a top player like Sanchez, Lukaku or deadwood like Darmian. They may think all it needs is for Ole to get the players playing like they did when he arrived and top 4 is in the bag, especially given Arsenal and Chelsea problems, and they have no expecations beyond that.
@theMartialArt – Apologies for commenting on transfers before the window has close but clearly N1xer didn’t get your “let’s wait” memo.
July 19, 2019 at 10:17 am #1767324@steveosnakeeyes – Some here will no doubt tell you that sell high buy cheap is what a good businessman like Ed should do.
But I suspect the truth is simpler. The players we want and other clubs want from us are players the respective clubs dont want to sell. The price therefore is very much a “make us an offer we can’t refuse” price. If a club wanted to buy Sanchez, Rojo, Jones etc. I’m sure they’d find us more flexible. Hell, we’ll even give then money to help pay the player wages. That’s not hardball!
