Ole said not playing VDB, shows how much depth we have. Sorry, but depth and quality in depth are 2 different things. If we have depth, why is James playing?
October 27, 2020 at 3:56 pm #1887690@mufc – Not giving VdB a fair crack of the whip is a disgrace when you consider that Mata, James and Pogba have all had multiple starts in the team this season. It doesn’t highlight the strength of the squad, it just reinforces the depth of ineptitude in the management, simple as that.
October 27, 2020 at 4:21 pm #1887693I think the unwritten story with DVB is that he’s Pogba’s replacement, but we bought him whilst he was available and at a cheap price.
He gets eased into the team this season whilst undergoing a strength program and making sub and cup game appearances and Pogba gets told he’s first choice for now.
At some point I’d expect him to start somewhere in the middle of the park and really show his quality, at that point it will be difficult to hold him back and he’ll probably win a regular slot.
Ole can’t come out and say this or it will just cause a weekly Pogba news storm.
October 27, 2020 at 4:30 pm #1887695If that fucking French cunt is not sold in January and stays till the summer,he will only have 12 mnths left on his contract and would be able to sign for foreign clubs a pre-contract on a Bosman ruling the next January.Just get rid, ffs.
October 27, 2020 at 5:00 pm #1887702You guys need to hold off on this vdB not playing stressing out. He has just joined us with no pre season. Hold off a couple more weeks and see how he’s getting on
@mike2005, I think there is a very good chance that is what’s happening
October 27, 2020 at 5:08 pm #1887703October 27, 2020 at 5:17 pm #1887704I’m not disagreeing with the possible concept that he’s been bought to replace Pogba, and I genuinely hope that’s the case BUT to keep giving minutes in the team to players who are absolutely stinking it out whilst completely ignoring VdB makes zero sense.
It’s hardly like he’s a young kid who needs protecting, he’s an experienced 23 year old, a current Dutch international and has played and scored in a Champions League semi final, simple as that.October 27, 2020 at 5:20 pm #1887706@mufc – I saw that debate mate, Carragher wiped the floor with Neville, who made about as much sense as our resident Rampton inmate usually does!!😂😂
October 27, 2020 at 5:33 pm #1887711Can’t believe City aren’t playing Torres more – absolute disgrace!
October 27, 2020 at 5:51 pm #1887712Speaking of potential Rampton inmates!!😂😂😂😂
October 27, 2020 at 5:56 pm #18877135 games. We’ve played 5 games. Chill out.
October 27, 2020 at 6:03 pm #1887716Yeah, it’s all bound to come good any second eh mate? After all, there’s only Liverpool who are better than us “at the moment”!😆😆😆😆
October 27, 2020 at 7:38 pm #1887753Damn straight!
Maybe Bayern Munich too! 😂😉October 27, 2020 at 8:29 pm #1887763Neville embarassed himself last night as by the end he was talking in riddles – he finally suggested playing 1 out and out defensive holding player and then 2 ahead in Pogba and Bruno. We have done that countless times and it does not and will not work. Just because it resembled 2 holding on tge team sheet, it effectively was what Nev suggested. Pogba cant hold and doesnt want to hold. Carra was right, its not possible to have a midfield 3 with Bruno and Pogba in it. One of them would need to take a forward position – thats whst Nev should have suggested – i.e. Pogba played in an inside left role for Juve multiple times while 3 other midfielders did their thing in the same side.
And Carra was also right in saying whole Fred and McT offer the best midfield pairing at the moment, its still not of the standard we expect of a united midfield pairing. Certsinly not one with aspirarions of winning titles.
I thought Ole was totally misguided today talking about depth and quality – it was as if he was trying to convince himself. As pointed out above, when you have Dan James in the squad, let alone in the first 11 against a top 4 rival, you know there is an issue.
The elephant in the room continues to be Pogba – the fact he has a short contract span left may invite some low ball bids, in Jan or in June. If not, expect him to be offered a new contract to safeguard the investment – that will ensure this circus endures for at least 3 more years. Certainly, it is very obvious that Ole is pussyfooting about him, literally walking on egg shells. Paul and his entourage of bullshitters will surely see off Ole in the next 18 months….October 28, 2020 at 9:01 am #1887861Reading about Dayot Upamecano and a possible transfer in the summer; the article says that for 7 million we DIDN’T sign him!! In other words he would have cost 45 mill but we wanted to wait 12 months to save 7 mill and get him for 38 million!!! This is absurd! If the guy is worth getting, then 7 mill is nothing. Yet another unfathomable transfer deal/ non-deal that Woodward has failed to negotiate. It’s doing my head in!!!
October 28, 2020 at 12:08 pm #1887916Pretty sure Leipzig were demanding £60 million for him this summer. Think that article is incorrect
October 28, 2020 at 1:16 pm #1887932Homerjay – That doesn’t go with the narrative though mate! 😉
October 28, 2020 at 2:00 pm #1887944Meh, I’m just surprised the likes of van Basten are harping on about it. Since when is a new player having to play himself into the starting XI a bad thing?
October 28, 2020 at 2:10 pm #1887947We were not in for him this summer. We were in years ago before he moved to Leipzig and did not pony up the money for him then – some reports suggesting we would not pay the extra 200k required. We have learned from that and now pay the big money required to buy the next potential stars. Wily Kambwala a case in point – a serious prospect at centre back.
We wont be signing Dayot next summer or any summer soon. His release clause will make him a snip for up to a dozen top teams – ALL of whom have a far better chance of winning leagues and/or champions leagues than we do.
The media will be delighted to have this new link – it will be the new saga to replace the Koulibaly saga, acting as click bait until he moves to someone else. Signing him would require United to admit that we WASTED 80M on a fat tub of lard who turns slower than milk. Neither Ed nor Ole would admit that. Look at Pogba as Exhibit A – the club still pretend we have this world star in our ranks but all these years later, e’one knows we are hiding a proven fraud much to the delight of opposition fans. The proof is in the pudding as they say.
170m on Maguire and Pogba and we are better without them.
October 28, 2020 at 2:33 pm #1887961Agree moral. To accommodate Pogba and Bruno you have to have Superman behind them.
As it is now we have 2 holding mf in Fred and Tominay. That is also a protection of our weak CB Maguire. To accommodate Maguire you also need to playing with 3 cb´s.
Thats as you say 170M and neither of them can pull their own weight, incredible. -
