Over 20 mil up the spout as Ashley continues the policy of signing players with hope of selling on for profit. Think of the proven players who could have been signed for this bundle of cash. If he had done so there would be a lot more points on board

Blackandwhite, I’m like you, I prefer proven players, but there’s no guarantee that a player who comes in will improve our squad. Look at Michael Owen, Titus Bramble and Jean-Alain Boumsong, they were all overpriced flops. But the Alan Shearer’s and Les Ferdinand’s and Ginola’s of this world outweighed the flops. But then Graham Carr brought in the like of Cheick Tioté, Hatem Ben Arfa and Yohan Cabaye.

Just wish Rémy Cabella had been given more time.

I think Carr has got a lot to answer for but if he identifies 3 players for each position and the club goes for the cheapest option (which in the past was the case) then who is to know that the number 1 choice would have been better? If I could choose 3 players I’d want to loan in this window I would go for Doumbia as striker, Gibbs as left back and try Cahill of Chelsea as center back

Good point mac 1 we don’t know Carr’s restraints and who has the final decision?
