Isn’t it funny how people are only appreciated after they have left. Emanelo was slaughtered on here regularly while he was at Chelsea and now we value what he did. For me, the same can be said of Kenyon as well

At the end of the day people like Buck have to speak to Roman and tell him exactly how things are and how we are no longer the force we once were unless some changes are made. The board has that responsibility because it does look as though Roman may not be focussing totally on the Club

All that being said decisions are being made if the press are correct and so the communication still exists, but it needs to be improved if we are to remain a force and continue to get the CL that is vital to our Club due to the lack of revenue that a larger stadium would bring. KTBFFH

1905, questioning why we haven’t replaced Michael Emenalo is not appreciating him I remain highly dubious of Emenalo and I’m curious to the role he played in the FIFA problem and why he left so suddenly.

But he was Technical Director and at the very least he had a modicom of football expertise which the Board currently lacks in spades.

One thing that would improve the Board at a stroke is appointing someone to the Board with real football gravitas Emenalo quit Chelsea over 18 months ago why haven’t we appointed someone of quality to replace him?

Roman has dropped the baton and if he doesn’t pick it up soon it may be too late and trips to Boston at the wrong time of the season albeit for a good cause and then making a one hour documentary out of it with Sky might give Roman, Buck and the Board a warm feeling but it is not addressing the problems we have at Chelsea.

Roman needs to get back and focussed on Chelsea, the Board need shaking up and some real football expertise needs to be added to the Board imho. And that’s before we get to what needs to be done managerially and player wise and deciding what we are going to do about a two window transfer ban.

How did it all come to this a few short years ago every one was chasing us and 7 years ago this weekend we were Champions of Europe now we’re struggling for a top 4 finish getting into the CL by default because of the collapse of other teams rather than what we did ourselves and if we don’t overcome the transfer ban we will be lucky to get out of the Group stages.

Don’t get me wrong I’ve always been a big supporter of Roman and I will always be grateful for what he’s done for our Club and ideally I want him to stay and turn things around but lack of direction and lack of leadership leads to mid table nothingness let’s not go there after hitting the heights that we have done.

I never had a problem with Kenyon & Gourlay they always made astute signings and they delivered us to the top of the footballing tree.

I never liked Emenalo as im pretty sure he had something to do with Ray Wilkins getting fired. Is Emenalo now doing anything of note? No! Because he sucks.
    – On 27 November 2017, Emenalo joined Monaco as its sporting director.
    – On 22 January 2019, Emenalo was sacked by Monaco.
    – Currently unemployed
    – See he sucks

Granovskaia was never meant for this role, she should implemented back to where she was and bring in someone with advanced scouting / footballing knowledge.

Bort – cannot blame Marina if Roman offers her the job as he feels she is capable…? I think the general concensus of opinion is that we get a footballing DOF and let Marina do what she does best and I actually saw a report along those lines about a month ago but nothing since

Not sure if anything would be linked to Sarri going/staying or not but at the end of the day Roman felt she was capable and in his eyes has seen no reason to make any changes – yet…!! KTBFFH

“The Daily Mirror are reporting that Chelsea have been forced to award £9m in compensation to Antonio Conte after sacking the Italian coach last summer.”

If accurate another own goal from the Owner and the Board why didn’t we just pay Conte what we owed him on day one.

This was another one Chelsea were never going to win so why carry on dumb board, Antonio Conte won his legal battle against Chelsea, with the club forced to pay €10m to the Italian coach as compensation after firing him last summer, both parties have been informed of the decision. Chelsea have paid around €97m to sacked managers since 2003. Some people never learn a lesson.

God only wonders how much money the club has made as a result of those managerial chances over the last 15 odd years too. Don’t forget that the changes resulted in a spike in form and success. If they had stuck with managers that were not getting the results they would have finished further down the table which means less revenue, been knocked out of competitions or not won them, again less revenue. They are probably still financially better off as a result. Just my guess though. Any thoughts?

That’s a good point 1976, I’d never thought of it that way. Not to mention all the lucrative sponsorship opportunities that would potentially be lost if we weren’t as successful.

Signs of life if the rumours re Petr Cech are true.

More importantly signs Roman may have awoken from his slumber and his hands are on the tiller again.

Re Conte we should never have got into this ridiculous stand off with Conte though he had a year to run on his contact and we should have paid him what the contract stipulated that’s what contracts are for.

This Villa manager Deon Smith should be looked at. He won 11 games in a row with Villa who don’t really have much stars, it may be a year or 2 too early for Lampard. We can’t buy any big players so why not someone like Smith for a couple of years. Probably want be interested anyway now that Villa are there. Managing Chelsea is a much bigger job with much bigger expectations.

Smith is a villa man through and through so now they are in the EPL I see no logic for him to even consider leaving Villa – not sure he is good enough anyway? KTBFFH
