May 4, 2020 at 7:54 pm #1842996You’ve got a point Red. Things are certainly on the slide in all directions and listening to the news and reading the papers these crazy days there’s nothing you can accurately measure anymore. This global blizzard of factual, semi-factual and non-factual bullshit has overturned the order of our souls.
During my lifetime I’ve seen nations rise and fall. I’ve read the stories, heard them all, and booze appears to be this nations favourite engine of survival for this particular motherfucker. And who can blame them!
After all the tonnage of daily media bullshit, all anyone can really do is keep their distance, wash their hands and hope for the best. It’s as simple as that!
Stay healthy mate, Lenny.May 5, 2020 at 3:22 pm #1843107Lenny-Love reading your posts mate, hope a book is in your plans @ some stage.
Stay safe all.
May 5, 2020 at 7:42 pm #1843135A book Red? I’m flattered mate, but to write a book at least requires a logical or illogical discipline of purposeful thought. Nowadays I have neither. As I mentioned, we’ve all been fed factual, semi-factual and non-factual bullshit every day for what now seems like months, and to tell the truth, I’ve now got to the stage where I don’t know whether to take a shit, have a shave, or go for a haircut, let alone write a fucking book.
Stay safe and distant hugs,
Lenny.May 5, 2020 at 10:07 pm #1843149Lenny I stopped watching the news early March. Have felt much better for it.
May 6, 2020 at 12:00 am #1843152UK hitting the top of the death charts in Europe despite having the most time to prepare, despite having the most insight into what was to come due to being the last country to get hit, and despite being a fucking island and despite having one of the very best health services in the world, is about as predictable as it gets. What’s worse is that we’re still posting daily death tolls in the 600s – we’re far from done.
Nobody’s allowed to criticise Boris/Brexit/the Tories it seems these days without being a naive left-wing remoaner Corbynite communist Islamophile self-hating Britain-hating muppet who just needs to get over it and whose shrill bleating is the whole reason the Tories won such a large majority at the last election, but I’m going to simply point out that we (well, you guys, I’m lucky enough to live on an island where the locally elected farmers, shopkeepers and electricians took sensible, proactive and well-communicated steps at the right time to keep this thing relatively under control) as a country voted to double down on this group of charlatans and lo and behold, the first serious challenge faced by the country in the aftermath, while unprecedented, has been absolutely bungled.
Then there’s SAGE, what an absolute shit show. We’re just going to ignore what’s happened in all the countries in Europe as this virus has steamrolled towards us from across China, think that we know better than all of them and take a completely different route which fails and gets disproven within a week and decimates public trust in the scientists’ competence to guide us through this crisis.
The foreign coverage of Britain’s handling of this crisis is absolutely damning, and this government is lucky they have an ally across the Atlantic whose ongoing demented episode of Black Mirror makes the rest of the world look intelligent by comparison.
May 6, 2020 at 2:00 pm #1843241Lenny-In the order of urgency, mate, thats hows it should work, lol.Back to the issue of a book, just your own thoughts, experiences, and ideas, completely independent of 1984 state of affairs, which we now are well into.Take the numbers re Covid-19,for example, and you find out that they are only counting hospital deaths, not nursing homes and people in their own homes. So much histeria, lies, nonsense, etc.
Just stop & count your contributions on here, and see how far you would have been.Stay safe matey.May 6, 2020 at 8:40 pm #1843310Red, the most insane thing with all this madness is, the Covid-19 issue has flummoxed everyone. All the politicians, eminent doctors, professors and uneducated self professed experts etc have as much idea as we do! And the press and TV media no matter who you read or watch know even less, if not nothing at all.
We are on our own mate. There is no one out there who can really tell you how to react, behave and avoid a plague. It all comes down to common sense. Trump and co who spend all of their time firmly rammed up their own arses may think otherwise, but in reality they know next to fuck all too! – I suspect even less.
The only advice I can offer is: keep your distance, wash your hands and duck for cover whenever anyone spits! It happens in East London all too frequently these days. But that’s the free world for you and another subject entirely.
Other than that, there’s not much on the horizon at the moment mate and certainly no book. Stay safe and sanitised and give booze a chance,
Lenny.May 7, 2020 at 10:18 am #1843360Lenny-Before the Corona virus, did you know anything about washing your hands? Lol. I bet you cant wait to visit East London once the lockdown is over, right?
May 7, 2020 at 9:55 pm #1843471To be honest Red, and I’m not boasting here, I’ve always washed my hands thoroughly, and even more so after a good dump or before stuffing the turkey, but I do find it unnecessary after a shave or a haircut.
I’m from the east end and it’s not what it was. No way mate! There are now areas where you have to hopscotch along the pavements in order to dodge the spit and vast globules of mucus.
The council to their credit put up necessary warning signs in Urdu but they have been totally ignored.
They say that Corona virus can be spread by micro particles emitted from the mouth. I can tell you that particles emitted from thousands of mouths in the east end are in no way micro! You could easily skid a few feet on some of them and break a leg.
Cheers, Len.May 10, 2020 at 8:42 pm #1843838There was an interesting article in the Observer today informing us that the USA and UK are currently and woefully lagging behind the rest of the world in containing the Corona plague. I know the paper is anti-capitalism but do they have a point? Perhaps they have, but then again perhaps not.
I suspect that once this virus really takes hold in places like Africa, South America and the middle east, and definitely it will, the Observer/Guardian will have to eat their words.
They won’t of course, it’s a given, but What do any of you left on here think?
Lenny.May 10, 2020 at 9:42 pm #1843839Great speech Boris. You can go outside, but you can’t go outside?
Also repeat 50 times – In the past 2 months.
May 12, 2020 at 8:46 pm #1844117Fight.
May 19, 2020 at 12:38 am #1844846June 15, 2020 at 12:16 pm #1848799Some shops are back open and there are hundreds queuing already. One of the rules they’re trying to imply is touch only what you’re going to buy. This is a strange one as you’re not going to buy everything you touch. I can see another disaster within a month. Much worse figures then what we’ve had over the previous 3-months.
