@libanski – I beg to differ mate: Ole could’ve done something about the match: after we didn’t score in the first 10 minutes of the second half and started losing the midfield, etc. he could’ve made a number of changes:
– Removed Rashford and pushed Martial out wide and go Ighalo in there to finish off the goals rather than give Ighalo only 3 minutes to provide something.
– Taken off Greenwood, who wasn’t at the races, and put in James/Mata to change our attacking output (even if not really an improvement, it would provide something different to something that definitely wasn’t working)
– He could’ve removed AWB and Williams immediately after their 2-1 goal as he knew we would need to get a goal or be eliminated. His decisions on Fred over Matic and, to a lesser extent, De Gea over Romero were justified but once again his in-game substitutions left a lot to be desired.
Cheers
August 17, 2020 at 9:01 am #1867207We’ve had 46 shots in the last 2 games scoring only 2 goals, both penalties…
August 17, 2020 at 9:14 am #1867213@zico valid question regarding what’s up with rashford.
My opinion and it’s just mine is he typifies what is wrong with the club and why we find ourselves at least 7 years behind city or Liverpool
Rashford is an average premier league footballer. From day one he has been hyped up beyond belief by the class of 92 and pundits purely down to the fact he’s English and a local lad who has come through the ranks that’s it. When you hear former professional players compare him to mbappe you know the world’s gone mad
What we tend to do with our English home grown players is treat them like royalty, therefore they think they are already the best thing since sliced bread.
I look at rashford the way he struts around the pitch there’s a element of self entitlement with the lad. A proper coach and management team would have taken him out the team long ago and told him some home truths. Ole easily could have dropped him put martial left and given igahlo a few starts, I mean what was the point extending his loan ?
But OLE will never drop rashford as long as he’s fit he will play simple as that. Yes he will score a few goals next year and the statistical analysis will be used to compare him with the rest of the league, however those stats cannot mask the fact he is bang average and at best should be a squad player instead of Dan James who should be gone asap
August 17, 2020 at 9:20 am #1867216Spot on rs83.
August 17, 2020 at 9:33 am #1867220Anyone heard Ole when he talks about Rashford? All he says is Rashy, Rashy, Rashy, like he wants to suck his dick.
August 17, 2020 at 10:01 am #1867228Alleged report the arguments and fighting continued in the dressing with injuries ….
August 17, 2020 at 10:21 am #1867234He called him a son of a bitch.
August 17, 2020 at 11:01 am #1867247Glad to hear that Steve. Hope there was a few right handers thrown as well. About time that lot grew a set of bollix and played for the shirt. Agree about Ole’s in game management. Rashford was embarrassing himself and he still left him on. We must be paying one million per minute for Ighalo because it seems Ole would rather cut his own dick off rather than give him game time. Also couldn’t believe how poor AWB was last night. There’ll always be doubts about him going forward but defensively he was atrocious. Have to hope he has hit a brick wall through fatigue otherwise we’ll have another £50M dud on our hands.
Time to focus on getting some reinforcements in to the club.
August 17, 2020 at 11:37 am #1867257Scholes said we need another defender to cover for Maguire’s weaknesses. What weaknesses are those I wonder..
August 17, 2020 at 11:57 am #1867261He was referring to Lindelof.
August 17, 2020 at 12:37 pm #1867271I’m not a fan of Maguire particularly and his price tag was fantasy land stuff, but he’s the least of our worries. Keeper, full backs, CB, midfielders, wingers, striker, where the fuck do you start?
August 17, 2020 at 12:58 pm #1867279Jm1502 true we need to address those areas you identified. My issue is I don’t trust the current setup (including Ed) to bring in the right players for those positions
We will spend another £150m and I guarantee you this time next year we will be having the same conversations
August 17, 2020 at 1:29 pm #1867284We will have the same conversation next year as the number of players we need exceeds what will will bring in this summer.
We say the same every year, but the club need to identify key targets, move for them and move on to back up list players if those key targets cannot be signed. Hopefully we will move on from Sancho if we cannot make any progress shortly.
August 17, 2020 at 1:53 pm #1867291We need to just get on and sign Sancho. We know how much he costs, we’ve already agreed personal terms, he’s our primary target. We’re either prepared to pay the money or not. There’s no point trying to drop down a tier of player and risk getting someone who’s no better than Greenwood or Rashford and sitting them on the bench next to Dan James.
August 17, 2020 at 2:09 pm #1867297I agree, but we cannot be here in three weeks’ time saying the same thing. We must have back up players – Chiesa, Bernardeschi, Coman etc
Same for any position, we need a CB and CM to start and any decent striker will score 30 goals in this side, so Ed needs to pull his finger out and get on with it now.
August 17, 2020 at 3:01 pm #1867313Agree rs83, particularly when you think that two of Ole’s summer signings are abject failures in my view and the other cost twice what he should have done. Bruno has been the only addition I’ve been satisfied with. I’ve made no secret of the fact that I’m not a fan of Solskjaer, much to the dismay of most people on here, but to me he’s not good enough as a manager and never will be. Neither do I trust him with the transfer kitty. Problem is, he’s here to stay.
August 17, 2020 at 3:37 pm #1867316Is now a good opportunity to replace Ole with someone like Pochettino?
August 17, 2020 at 3:41 pm #1867317Rather than Pochettino Alfie I would like us to go for someone like the RP Leipzig manager he reminds me of a young klopp the way he recruits players and sets his team’s up
August 17, 2020 at 4:05 pm #1867322The biggest fraud is Maguire.
Harry Maguire's defensive awareness is on another level.pic.twitter.com/9WhVM97B2M

August 17, 2020 at 4:13 pm #1867325Agree zico! Probably need to spend £100m on a proper top draw centre back. This is why I just don’t trust the current setup recruiting the right caliber of players
